Bean bag chairs never had real beans, they were just shaped originally like the bean bags used in the game where small bags of beans were thrown at targets to score points. So, kind of ironically, this chair has neither the small (dreaded) polystyrene beads (aka beans) nor the bean-bag shape, but it is derived from the concept of loose fill material that is especially conforming and comfortable therefore.
And yes, this chair is a much better shape (than a bean bag), a very nicely designed shape in fact, that works well with the foam filling. The cloth exterior with the broad corduroy is a good pairing — comfortable but functional in that it’s not too slippery or “sticky” (original bean bag chairs were plastic that stuck to the skin easily).
So the feature that is best about this is that it’s got a more gentle effect on the body than a chair built around a hard wood or metal skeleton. But at the same time, its shape limits the amount it deforms so it’s not too loose and unstructured.
Original bean bag chairs were a novelty and kinda fun until they leaked plastic pellets all over or until you sat in one on a hot day and it stuck to one’s legs. This has none of those short-comings, and a lot of benefits in terms of comfort and conformability.
That said, I’m six feet tall and weigh over 250 and I found this chair didn’t really work for me. For all it’s virtues and features, I think it’s better for lighter and shorter people. I love the idea of this chair, and I thought because it was “rated” for 300 lbs by the maker, it might work for me. But it’s too soft and too low to the ground for my size and weight. But I will say, it looks great and if I was smaller and lighter I think I’d really enjoy it.

Decent foam based chai
This bean bag chair is incredibly soft and comfortable, making it a cozy spot to relax, read, watch TV, or play games. The corduroy fabric feels plush, and I like that it’s filled with foam instead of traditional beads, giving it a different feel and helping it keep its shape.
It doesn’t offer a lot of firm support, but I think that’s intentional since it’s designed more as a lounging chair than an upright seat. If you’re looking for something structured, this may not be the best fit, but it’s great for sinking into and relaxing.
Overall, this is a comfortable, well-made lounge chair that’s perfect for casual use, especially if you prefer the feel of memory foam over traditional bean bag filling.
