Since 1850, Emile Henry has produced in France a large range of high quality ceramic cooking utensils. our products are made from natural materials and have been designed and manufactured in France, in Southern Burgundy. Emile Henry unveils Modern Classics, an American inspiration and the first significant launch of an Emile Henry collection since the original pie and lasagna dishes debuted in the early ’90s. Modern Classics is a range of cookware and bakeware that has been on the drawing boards for many, many months. It is truly an American collection as the shapes, capacities, and dimensions were developed with an eye toward American foods, style and recipes. All of the shapes have been designed from the ground up to attract the American consumer while preserving the intangible design elements and the performance properties of Emile Henry. A good pie, which melts in your mouth, needs to be cooked slowly and evenly without drying out. The secret is to use a ceramic dish. And you can serve it directly on the table, still warm, without turning out.

I love these Emile Henry pie dishes, they are beautiful but more importantly they bake the contents of the dish evenly and completely. They wash with ease ( I put in dishwasher) . I have several of them this new one was replacing one I had for st least 10 years.
A beautiful pie dish.
Beautiful quality. Even ceramic, no ripples, pits or chips, plus I love that this pie dish is deeper than your standard pie dish. I’m glad this was discounted during the black Friday sales, as it’s quite expensive, but the discount persuaded me to buy it, glad I did.
I make a strawberry cake from a recipe I found online and it was shown baked in this exact dish with the ruffled edges so I knew I just had to have it since that recipe quickly became a family favorite. The red from the dish goes so well with the red from the berries. So beautiful!
Came super securely packaged in a lovely EH box. would be perfect for gifting. Great quality. Washed beautifully by hand or dishwasher. The ruffles are perfect size. I’ve seen some dishes mimicking this look but their ruffles were just off… some were too big, too small, too tight, too loose, too pointy, etc. The EH is perfect and the ruffles make the dish look dainty but you don’t have to baby it. It’s durable. Lovely piece of bakeware that will be loved and enjoyed for years.
This dish also fits perfectly in the pie container I got from Amazon to tuck away leftovers <3
The Emile Henry 9" Pie Dish is like a work of fine art!
The legendary Emile Henry 9″ Pie Dish is like a work of fine art! Yes, it costs considerably more than traditional glass or metal 9″ pie dishes, but it is worth every penny. If you need a new 9″ pie dish then do yourself a favor and purchase the Emile Henry Dish, you will be glad you did.
Emile Henry makes wonderful baking dishes, and this French company has a long history of producing quality baking dishes from clay. This pie plate is no exception. Not only is it lovely to look at, but using it will leave you with a pie that looks like you are a trained baker, even if you are not. The clay the company uses heats evenly. When you are done the dish is easy to clean up as nothing really sticks to it. The pie dish does not really get scratched, so it looks like new after it is washed.
I have another Emile Henry pie plate in a different style in that sides are scalloped. It bakes a great pie, but you can not get a slice out of the pie plate in one piece because the scallop shape does not allow you to get a pie server underneath without breaking that beautiful scalloped side crust into pieces in the process. This style pie plate is a big improvement in how your pie will look when serving it.
The actual pie dish is quite deep, so you can use this pie plate not only for desserts, but to make things like chicken pot pie, or any recipe that calls for deep dish pie plate. Emile Henry claims the pie dish can go from freezer to oven with no problem – I can not speak for that, as I have never used it that way.
I will say they can chip, as any pottery piece can do, so you do want to be careful with it, as it is a bit more expensive than many other pie plates. But all around, this is a great pie dish, and it comes in a lot of different colors, so you should be able to find one that you like. Highly recommend.
Beautiful Dish!!
I purchased this as a gift for our daughter. It is a deep 9″ pie dish with fluted edges, making it useful not only for pies but for most anything you want to cook. It is heavy and well made, and she really liked it. Sort of wish I had gotten one for myself!
This exquisite, deep-dish pie pan arrived carefully cushioned in bubble wrap and two boxes. It is a deep, deep cobalt blue, perfectly even glaze outside, completely smooth cream-white glaze inside. Will be easy to slide pie out of this. Solid, a bit heavy, should bake an even, crisp pie crust. Comes with a ten-year warranty. Needed another pie dish after realizing my pre-baked shells have butter in them, which one of my kids can’t eat (dairy allergy). Considered disposable aluminum for her, but am glad I changed my mind—now “her” pie will be in the most beautiful dish.
