Fantastic find!
We use these for setting up for community events. The great thing about these weights is that you could use sand if you wanted to but water makes it much easier. They seem to be very durable and have not shown any signs of leakage. Being able to flatten them for storage is a big plus as well.
Fill these weights up with the material of your choice, strap them to your legs and you’ve got a secure area for recreation or other activities!
I got these canopy weights as I will be building a temporary greenhouse for the winter over my citrus and bananas. I live on the Chesapeake Bay and we can get some pretty bad northeasters, so I wanted something I could rely on to hold my poles in place. I have a box of sandbags, but sand is not really available to me at home and the water is only a hose length away.
The bags are well-made and the Velcro straps well stitched. I would definitely not try to lift these when full as the handles might not hold (nor your vertebrae).
While the listing shows them used at the beach, filling them there would be problematic without a bucket and some sort of giant funnel (too bad they didn’t include one almost every kitchen item I buy now has a silicone collapsible funnel and a giant one for using when a hose is not available would be great!) Sandbags will be much more convenient at the beach for filling as you can do it right by your canopy no need to haul multiple buckets of water all that way.
These are great for canopies at any kind of outing that has a hose available and they don’t mind you using enough to fill them up. They’re awesome around the home or any situation for which you need to hold something down in high winds. As an added perk, you have a pretty nice stash of water when they’re ready to empty just siphon into watering cans or buckets for use.
These absolutely saved me yesterday at my craft show. Forecast was for possible strong wind gusts later in the week and I only had small plastic weights plus the sand bags that came with my tent and knew it was not going to suffice. I saw these and decided to get them as a way to quickly fill them on site as they would take up less space in my car and they worked exactly as I had hoped. I would have been in trouble without these. They are also easy to fill and easy to carry, if you can lift that much weight. They seem very heavy duty so expect they will last a long time!
