The non slip rubber design provides dependable traction for everyday foot traffic, making it a useful mat for outdoor entrances, restaurant work areas, garage floors, pool areas, patios, porches, workshops, and commercial spaces. Its black rubber look blends easily with home, cabin, garage, and business settings while standing up to repeated outdoor use. Available in two sizes, the 24″ x 36″ mat is a great fit for front doors, back doors, steps, and smaller entryways, while the 36″ x 60″ mat offers wider floor coverage for larger entrances, patios, garages, kitchens, and wet work areas. Cleaning is simple: shake it out, sweep it off, vacuum it, or rinse with a hose and let it air dry. New rubber products may have a mild odor when first opened; airing the mat out in a ventilated area can help reduce the smell before use.

    Heavy and non-slip
This is a great heavyweight rubber mat for outdoors. Solid weight makes it less likely to move when you’re stomping your boots off, and the raised surfaces make it very easy to use to scrap boots and shoes clean. Perforations allow for easy draining, and this is a fantastic mat for a deck or other surface that has board spaces that allow for draining. If you’re going to use it on a sealed surface (such as concrete) you will want to move it around a bit to make sure things drain and don’t accumulate.

Very good value for the money, and unrolled flat right out of the box. It does have a very strong rubber smell when you first open the box, which is to be expected. Rubber feels very solid and durable, and this expected to last a long time. It is a very thick and rasied mat, so take that into consideration if you’re going to have it in front of a door with minimal clearance.

We’ve had a few days of heavy rain, and this is already proving its worth and value.

Golden Review Award: 1 From Our UsersBuilt Like A Truck Tire And Willing To Be Your Door Mat.
We installed this mat at the base of an outdoor stairway that sees regular foot traffic, falling leaves, dirt, and the occasional Maryland downpour. Our first impression is that this thing is built like a tank. At over seventeen pounds, it is substantially heavier than the typical decorative door mat found at most home centers, and that weight works in its favor. Once placed, it stays put.

The large open-hole design is the defining feature here. Dirt, leaves, small debris, water, and mud fall through the openings instead of accumulating on the walking surface. In our application this is exactly what we wanted. Rather than trapping debris and becoming a muddy sponge after a rainstorm, the mat remains functional and drains naturally.

We were initially concerned that the large holes might make the surface uncomfortable underfoot, but that turned out not to be the case. The rubber has enough thickness and flexibility to provide a surprisingly comfortable walking surface while still feeling extremely durable. It also offers excellent traction whether dry or wet.

The mat arrived rolled and flattened out quickly after installation. Like many rubber products, it has a noticeable rubber odor immediately after unpacking. In our case, because it was installed outdoors, this was largely irrelevant and diminished with time.

The dimensions are generous. This is not a small decorative welcome mat. The 36″ x 60″ size provides substantial coverage and is particularly well suited to larger entryways, patios, workshops, garages, utility areas, pool decks, and commercial-style applications.

Based on our initial experience, this feels more like commercial-grade equipment than a typical residential door mat. Time will ultimately determine long-term durability, but the construction inspires confidence.

    Pros:

    – Extremely heavy and stable

    – Excellent drainage performance

    – Dirt and debris fall through instead of collecting on top

    – Strong wet-weather traction

    – Comfortable underfoot despite the open-hole design

    – Large coverage area

    – Appears highly durable

    Cons:

    – Strong rubber odor when first unpacked

    – Large industrial appearance may not suit decorative entryways

    – Considerably heavier than traditional door mats

    Star Rating:

This is a 5-star deal at this price point there.

Golden Review Award: 1 From Our UsersHeavy duty, go-nowhere outdoor mat.
NOTICE: above all else, the one thing you need to know about this floor mat is that you can expect a considerable amount of off-gassing odors in the first few days. You will want to splay this thing out in a heavily ventilated or outdoor area. I had it too close to the back door—don’t make that mistake. The first few days were… stifling… to say the very least.

That short term problem aside, this heavy duty (and just plain heavy) mat is going to stay where you put it. Well designed from a water drainage standpoint, although I did note one hole not having been correctly formed, but which will be easy enough to punch out. In fact, there were a few other areas where the rug felt just a little bit malformed, but all were relatively minor and largely cosmetic. I’ve found the holes great for collecting debris and, critically for me, tufts of dog hair. It has also been remarkably easy to clean out by way of my shopvac.

It’s got great grip to it, even after dirtying it up a bit to lose that initial raw rubber feel. Not the greatest feeling on bare feet, though.

    Stays put in strong wind
This review is for Backyard Expressions 36″ x 60″ Outdoor Rubber Drainage Mat

I was looking for a heavy duty outdoor mat for our slider. We’ve had a problem with mats folding over or shifting around in strong wind. This mat has good weight to it. We have had it out in the yard for a few weeks now, and even in strong wind it’s not budging. The mat arrives with a strong rubber tire like smell that took at least a week to die down. I’d recommend that you unroll this and leave it in an open spot for a few days until the odor dies down. It’s pretty strong. Our slider opens to our living room, and the odor was intense at first, now we don’t smell it at all.

The mat does a great job of cleaning debris off of our shoes and it’s very easy to clean. It drains well when it’s wet with rain of after hosing clean. It has good grip. It’s a good size for our large slider. The mat is well made and appears to be very durable. I think this will last for many years. It’s a good value considering the high quality of the make and material.

Great Strong Soft and Study Mat!
I live in Middle Tennessee where the weather is varied and it rains a lot. To top it off, I walk in grass and love my birds, so I track a lot of dirt and grass in my house and now that I have this wonderful drainage mat, I can tell you that I’m getting less grass and dirt in my house.

This is a HEAVY mat and it smells like brand new tires. I put it in front of my front door, and as you can see from the picture, it covers a mass amount of space. It’s huge.

I love the drainage holes because one of the worst things about having a mat is how they get so dirty and they really wear out quickly.

This is a very thick and soft on the feet. I can see someone standing on this for hours and it not bothering their knees. It’s got some bounce and it’s nice.

It’s already been in very heavy rain and it didn’t move a bit. It stayed in place and the wind didn’t move it at all.

I highly recommend this mat. I think it’s worth the current asking price at $60 and once the tire smell decreases it will be perfect!

Golden Review Award: 1 From Our UsersGreat for Garages, Not for Indoors Due to Rubber Smell
I recently ordered the Backyard Expressions 36″ x 60″ rubber drainage mat, and it’s a practical option for wet, high-traffic areas, especially outside. The mat feels heavy-duty and the surface provides good non-slip traction, which is helpful around entryways, patios, and pool or wet zones.

One thing to note: I don’t recommend this for indoor use due to the strong rubber smell like new tires. It’s the kind of odor that can linger, so it’s better suited for spaces with ventilation or where you don’t mind the initial scent—like a garage.

For garage use, though, it seems like a good fit. The drainage-style design with holes helps prevent pooling, so water and debris don’t sit on top as much. After rainy days or wet shoes, it’s easier to manage than a solid mat that traps moisture. The size also covers a useful footprint without needing constant repositioning.

I’d call this a solid, functional mat for wet outdoor areas and garages, but I would avoid using it indoors unless you’re prepared for the strong rubber smell.

Golden Review Award: 1 From Our UsersGreat door mat!
I really like the mat. It is nice and heavy duty. It has a nice rubbery feel and feels durable. It has a commercial feel. It is really, big, so make sure you measure your space. It is bulky and heavy, which I find a plus. Easy to clean with a spray hose. I love it, I have another mat on top for right before you go in. The design of this one allows my other mat to air dry. The only thing I don’t love is that it smells like a tire store. It has been on the porch for 2-3 weeks now and I can still smell it. It is fading though, nearly gone. I didn’t mind it enough that I wanted to remove it. I really like this thing.
