The fabric is different across sizes! One soft and silky, the other is nasty and crinkly polyester!
So… I nearly didn’t order this skirt because of the mixed reviews and complaints about the fabric and shape, but I liked the pattern so much I decided to see for myself. I ordered a large and medium and they arrived separately with the large arriving first. I was very pleasantly surprised, the fabric was soft and silky, and the waist had a hidden side zip with flat front and a very light gather at the back. It was also not to flared and I loved the pattern. I do know what some people mean about the pattern around the crotch, but I won’t be tucking my tops in so it doesn’t really notice. The pattern is printed on one side so it is plain on the inside but I don’t think that matters. The only issue for me is the design is for ladies with smaller waists than hips and I’m more of a straight down type of person so the large is still a little tight on my waist but the hips are a bit baggy. I’m still keeping it though I love it.

On to the medium! These two skirts are like night and day. The medium was horrible and I can see exactly why people didn’t like it, (see pictures) it feels cheap and has a wide elasticated waist with full gather and the skirt becomes wide because of this, the large with flat front and zipper was a little tight on my waist, but this medium was cavernous! I hate the fabric which is a coarse crinkly polyester, it feels slightly rough to the touch and when I put it on it flared from the waist out. I can see exactly why people would send this back, and I’m glad I got the two sizes so I could get the really nice silky zippered version. The question is which one is the old version and which one is the new! All I can say is make sure you choose the zippered version.
