Works perfectly as described and does not slip.
This mat is absolutely perfect! I bought this for a tub that is part of a fiberglass tub shower enclosure. Nothing sticks to the tub floor so any other mat does not stick in place. Even though it is textured, it gets slippery and exiting the tub is unnerving. Well this little gem stays in place. It has a great texture and stays secure and in place. I love this mat so much that I emailed the company suggesting they make additional sizes, for a shower enclosure perhaps? I highly recommend this item. It is awesome!!
I struggle with vertigo and have a fiberglass bathtub with shower. It is only lightly textured on the bottom and can be slippery. Nearly every time I turn my head I feel a little dizzy and worry that I may fall. I hoped a good quality bath mat could help reduce this risk. I didn’t want a mat with suction cups which could damage the finish. I decided on this product because it reviewed well, didn’t have suction cups, used weight to keep it in place, and can stand up in a roll to drip dry, making keeping it clean simple.
However, during my first few uses of it, the mat did slip towards the drain and rotate just a bit. I couldn’t figure out how this could be happening when the mat seemed very stationary under my feet. The first few uses of the mat I had the front edge of it positioned about an inch away from the drain and by the end of my shower, the front edge of the mat would be nearly halfway across the small drain opening and no longer square with the tub edges. I experimented with placing the mat about 4-5 inches from the drain (further toward the back of the tub) and found that when the mat was placed further from the drain it didn’t move or rotate at all. This placement works for me as the drain is at the far end of the tub in such a position that I wouldn’t ever be putting my feet on either side of the drain anyway. I hypothesize that since the slope of the tub dips toward the drain and then is more deeply depressed for about an inch around it, water is able to get under the mat and allow for some rotation. This problem is now solved by keeping the front edge of the mat away from the drain.
I give this mat 5 stars in spite of the fact I had to figure out the best mat position for my situation. This circumstance is on me, not on them. Additionally, I like the fact that the mat has a woven pattern that allows one’s toes a place to find a grip—a literal toe hold. I am now much more stable in the tub/shower and feel much safer. While no mat is slip-proof, I’d really have to work at it to slip while using this mat.
Worth the money
After buying 2 different bath mats and returned them ,because they did stand up to what was advertised
I decided on this on and it’s great
my feet don’t hurt and it stays
Love, love, love this mat. Been through so many cheaper mats. All of them had issues where you could still slip or collected mold. This one is worth the price. The weight keeps it on the floor for the most part. My kids have been able to get it to slide a bit. But you really have to try to get it move around. Since it has no suction cups it allows for simple cleaning without an issue of mold for us. At first it can seem weird on your feet, but we got used pretty quick. Its very thick and has texture. We have two rough boys. We’ve has for at LEAST a year. This has had zero issue of breaking, smelling, or staining.
I thought a lot about this purchase prior to making it as this bathmat is spendy. BUT slipping has the potential to cost a lot more than this mat, so I bit the bullet and purchased it. Not sad I did. So far, I am impressed by how securely it stays in place, how solid it is, how thick it is, and how easy it is to roll up loosely, stand it upright in the tub (where it will stay in place on its own), rinse it and let it dry. Easy and quick.
A couple of thoughts on how it might be improved:
1) Make the front of the mat more easily discernible to ensure the correct end is placed towards the front. As it is now, there is a very, very slight curve to indicate the front of the mat, with a small (very) arrow pointing to the front. Can’t see the arrow (or word ‘front’ which is printed on the mat) without picking it up and getting it close enough to read – like within 12 inches. Maybe just making the curve more pronounced could do the trick.
2) The mat is quite hefty, and a built-in handle could make it easier to pick up.
One thing I am waiting to see is if the legs of my shower chair will in any way negatively impact the mat, particularly as there are open areas on the mat which could make it more susceptible to wear, i.e., will the pressure of the chair feet damage the mat. Time will tell.
I really do like this mat. There is room for slight improvements, but that doesn’t deter me from still giving it five stars. If anything changes, I’ll update.
Expensive but works
If you have a textured shower floor this is the only mat that will stay in place. The textured floor doesn’t quite prevent falls for the elderly.
My elderly parents required a safety mat for their walk-in shower. I searched high and low and tried many styles. None worked except for this one.
It is heavy and stayed in place. It is soft on the feet and does the job. Nothing sticks to a textured shower floor so this worked well.
I thought the price was too high but I think the company knows there isn’t anything else available – zero competition.
In the end, for this situation, the cost was worth it.
I was worried that mat might be too heavy for me to roll up, but it does so easily and stands in the shower until next use.
I have limited mobility and am really impressed with the quality. It stays put on the 1″ floor tiles, and the low nubs on top keep my feet secure.
Well worth the money.
Very happy that I purchased this bath mat, even though it is a bit pricey. I had my tub reglazed and was told not to use the suction type bath mats. I put it down on a dry tub, and then showered. It was comfortable and stayed in place. Nice and heavy! On the package that the mat is wrapped in, it says “not intended for smooth surfaces”. I did not see this before I bought it, in any of the descriptions. I ended up trying it since this was one of the few options I had, and am glad I purchased it.
While a bit pricey, I ordered this as it seems to be a unique product. I looked for other products that would meet my need, but found none.
I have an old clawfoot tub and needed something non-slip and a bit softer than the metal bottom. It’s a sooth surface, but the cheap suction cups found on most mats fail to hold at all.
Pros:
– Does what it says; stays in place even with a full tub and provides good traction
– Seems substantial in build
– Does drain most water when laid properly
Cons:
– Material is quite hard, something softer would be more comfortable
– Still retains some water so I pull it up after every bath, loosely roll it, and stand it on end to dry. Not that I fault them for this really, it would be inevitable with any design.
– Expensive. This is the only product out there like it, and it is priced accordingly.
We’ll see how long it lasts. I imagine at some point it will start to crack on the outside corners but hopefully it gives me a few years due to the cost.
Worth the expense!
We are thoroughly impressed with this product. While it is a bit heavier than a standard bath mat, that weight translates to excellent durability. Despite our bathtub having a textured and slightly curved floor, the mat fits perfectly and provides a secure, non-slip surface. It comes at a higher price point, but the quality and safety it offers make it a worthwhile investment. We couldn’t be happier with the purchase.
