What a great find! Easy to put together, are sturdy and actually stay in place in the garden to protect plants. It would take a large animal with hands to pull this up. And it’s so beautiful – like a lovely ornament in your garden. The bird on the top is the lookout!
These are very cute and effective cages for your plants. Know that they are not very big. They work well on smaller plants. Know that it requires some construction. The quality is very good although we did have one of the birds break but was able to remedy with glue.
These are sturdier than I thought they would be, and the design is quite charming with the little bird on top. The top doesn’t really bend open like a lid like the photo, it’s more of lift-it-off type lid. But I do love that you can access your plant from the top. Some have mentioned using zip ties on one of the top loops so you can make it a more flip top lid, so maybe I’ll try that.
I use 6″ metal u-shaped garden stakes around the bottom edges because I have encountered critters getting at things, so the garden stakes keep the cloches in place more firmly. Thus, you can see why the openable top is so helpful – you don’t have to undo all of your work locking the base in place with the garden stakes. I have had squirrels literally pull cloches right off plants and chuck them aside, so believe me, metal garden stakes are your friend.
Finally, my lillies have made it to flowering without being stripped by the bunnies! I had almost decided to just give up on having these plants, but these cages came to the rescue. My only wish is they came in a bigger size as well. Well worth the money and they look cute with the metal bird in top.
