High quality mulching blades for John Deere mowers with 48” decks
This 3 piece G3 Gator blade set from Oregon are excellent replacements for many John Deere mowers with 48″ decks. These blades are heavy duty and designed for superior mulching capability. The high lift teeth help suspend and disperse the grass clippings, which ultimately reduces the grass into smaller particles for more nutrients that improves the growth of your lawn. I ordered these blades for my John Deere Z425 mower that has a 48″ deck. I’ve been using Oregon Gator blades for many years now, and I have not found better quality blades than these. I experience excellent results including, even cuts and less grass clippings, vibration free balance of the blades, long lasting cutting edges. The blades are easy to install, whether you remove the deck or put them on without removing it. These blades are a great value for the money. If you want increased performance and efficiency from your mower, I would recommend getting a set of these Gator blades, you’ll definitely see the difference in your lawn.
I’ve been running some very tired old OEM blades a few years longer than I should have, and finally ordered this new set. They arrived quickly, they look great with no apparent shelf wear, rusting or other issues I have seen with other third party blades (usually bad paint).
After getting them installed, I have been reminded at how excellent the machine cuts now that it is equipped with blades that are correctly honed for the task. After mowing the entire property, I revisited the underside of the mower deck – they fared well, no missing paint, no interference issues with the other blades, everything is in order.
Installation is just as simple as OEM blades, and once installed they function well. They fit the machine just as well as the blades I removed, and they are adequately thick steel material well suited for durability and longevity for the long run.
Easy install and excellent cut quality.
These are good quality blades and honestly perform very much like the original manufacturer blades that came on my mower. Fitment was spot on for my deck and installation was straightforward without any issues. I really like having an extra set available so I can switch between my mulching blades and regular blades whenever one set needs sharpening. Instead of taking the mower out of service while sharpening blades, I can simply swap them out and keep mowing. It saves time and makes maintenance much more convenient.
The blades feel well made and durable. The steel construction appears solid and they arrived with a good edge right out of the box. After installation the mower produced a clean even cut across the yard with no issues. The Gator style design does a great job with mulching. Clippings are recut efficiently and distributed evenly leaving the lawn looking cleaner and more professionally finished. Airflow also seems improved helping with both mulching and discharge performance. I’ve had good experiences with Oregon products over the years and these blades continue that trend. They fit correctly, install easily, and deliver consistent cutting performance.
These are quality replacement blades that perform very similarly to OEM blades. They’re easy to install, cut well, and are great to keep on hand so you can quickly swap blades when another set needs sharpening. Very satisfied with the performance and convenience.
These blades are awesome. They have plenty of lift and with the mulch edge really do a great job of shredding the leaves and all up. I have tried other brands in the past and the cutting edge is often short. The Oregon blades are top notch, perfect fit and balance. They also come well packed in a proper box.. The material is a heavy gauge steel that hold up well and I am hard on my mower with mulching sticks, leaves and grass.
