This weather radio is great! Between being able to customize what you want alerts for and programming your regions it has plenty of customization. The signal light is a great option for a dark room as well along with the warning indicators on its face. The reason we bought it is because we run a coffee shop and comic store, since we deal with the public and the sirens go off we like to be able to know where, when and why. We are in a 100+ year old building with lots of brick, the longer wire antenna is a must. It is just the perfect weather radio.
I love this noaa weather radio. It’s easy to setup and comes with an external antenna and strobe light for alerts. And it also gets alerts faster. And it doesn’t need to be plugged into a port, it can also be powered by 4 AA batteries. It has S.A.M.E. Technology which can alert you about severe weather in your area. I prefer people to get this for better reputation and faster alerts it’s worth the money.this noaa weather radio can be powered by a power cord or batteries which is the back up power source just in case the power goes out in severe weather.
Definitely alerts to all kinds of watches and warnings. Customizable to the ones important to you. Loud alarm and the flashing light works well. Woke me up out of my sleep for a tornado warning and that was why I bought it.
I’ve owned weather radios before, and while they’re fantastic for giving advance notice of weather events, my past experience was frustrating. My older units would broadcast every single weather warning for a huge geographical area. This resulted in a tremendous amount of alerts—for thunderstorms, floods, and snow—most of which were far away and irrelevant to me. The deluge of notifications caused classic “warning fatigue”, and like many others, I ended up ignoring the radio completely, eventually turning it off.
However, after watching the news coverage of the Texas floods, I realized just how vital these warnings are, especially for major, life-threatening events. That’s when I ran across this specific weather radio featuring S.A.M.E. (Specific Area Message Encoding) technology on Amazon, and after doing my homework, I knew this was the solution I needed.
What I truly love about this radio is its ability to provide localized warnings and, most importantly, allow me to filter events. As soon as it arrived, I set it up with my closest broadcast station and immediately filtered out everything except the major, critical events like tornadoes and localized flooding. The ability to customize exactly what you want to be warned about is a huge feature.
Since setting it up, the experience has been night and day. In three months, I’ve only received two alerts, both related to localized flooding. This proves the system works exactly as intended! The alerts themselves are robust: the alarm function is incredibly loud—loud enough to wake me up—and even if I’m not home, a large, blinking red light lets me know immediately that an important warning was issued.
This is a quality radio that is easy to set up. Yes, you need to dedicate a few minutes to reading the instructions to properly activate S.A.M.E. and set your event filters, but that small investment of time is completely worth the peace of mind. If you’re tired of false alarms, this radio is a must-have upgrade for serious weather preparedness.

Works Great!
Works great! Easy to program for my area which means I’m not getting alerts constantly for counties out of my area. It is more precise area wise compared to my last weather radio. Clear reception to hear messages from weather service. It fits conveniently in a small area near an outlet and is loud enough to hear but not so loud to be disruptive to anything else you are doing. It has a backup batteries and a flashing light so works even when the power is off. This was a better price than my previous weather radio and works better. I would highly recommend this product.
Excellent little radio that does exactly what you need a NOAA weather radio to do
Excellent compact radio for the price–does everything you need a NOAA weather radio to do, including specific configuration of the alerts you want along with the exact counties you want. We used this radio on a long RV trip during which we ran into severe storms, tornado watches, and even a tornado warning. With the NOAA station configured for the area we were in, the radio alerted us before we got notifications on our phones. We also appreciated the audible alarm, which guaranteed that we weren’t dependent on hearing our phones when an alert came.
I also appreciated that the radio ran perfectly on batteries as well as AC, because we unplug our RV from AC power when there’s lightning.
The one thing I’d like this radio to do is show the NOAA station frequencies along with the number (1-7); NOAA’s station list provides the frequency, but I had to look in the radio’s booklet to map that frequency to the station number in the configuration. It’s not difficult, but I had to have the booklet handy.
