Is exactly what it says. Collapses into small low package. When totally stuffed it stands up but slouches and sort of falls over, when it isn’t. It rolls when full, not smoothly, but well enough to manage ok in an airport. The fabric is strong but not thick like canvas. I got it to avoid paying a big UPS fee to ship some clothing. I was stuffed to the top and checked with no overweight charge, and met Southwest size limit for a big bag (60 linear inches), and survived a cross country trip. The top handle is soft but it manages to do the job. This is not a heavy duty travel bag but wow is it huge, and useful. If flying, it’s so big I think you’d have to avoid putting heavy items in it to avoid overweight fees. It would be stellar for moving, dorm travel, family vacation, big trips, even clothing storage.
The suitcase was exactly as conceptualized: it could be packed away compactly but expanded to a large size when needed. However, it’s worth noting that it isn’t lightweight on its own, so if you’re taking it as an extra suitcase, it will add a fair amount of weight.
It’s made from a fairly durable fabric, but because it’s not rigid, that flexibility can be both an advantage and a disadvantage. The lack of a fixed shape means it’s not particularly stable. Also, it doesn’t have a typical carry handle; you pull it with a strap, which I found difficult to control—it kept veering left and right. I felt that the relatively low maximum height of the suitcase itself also made it harder to maneuver.
Despite these points, the ability to pack it down small and then expand it into a very large suitcase when necessary makes it a compelling product.
Pretty good, but has usability issues.
First off. I like this after doing a couple of road trips with it, and recommend it to others.
In fully expanded mode you have to be mindful of it being top heavy. So you need to plan your pack well. Also it will slump to one side depending on how you pack which makes it fall over easy while wheeling along bumps etc.
Next time I use it fully expanded I will try putting cardboard around the inside to give it some stability.
Good features are the outside pockets, as well as being able to store it under the bed when empty.
So, my hubby has been in/out of hospital this year (currently early April), six times already for week-long stays (yes, that’s 6 weeks out of 13 weeks!).
And each time, I’ve had to lug around a carry on suitcase, plus 3 smaller carry-on bags containing all his supplies (special needs), drinks (water, juices etc. due to frequent UTI’s), snacks, pillow, blankets (his and mine), fresh clothes, and more, because ER visits are always super long and mostly during crazy hours of the night, and then admission processes can be a tiring wait too… so all of this PLUS navigating his wheelchair around the ER/hospital with my other hand.
I looked for a bag with wheels that could expand to accommodate all this stuff, but also have the capability to be compactly folded/stored away when not in use. And found this bag.
First of all, it’s a bit of a monster. In the pictures you can see it sits in the wheelchair. The wheelchair seat is 18 x 17.
And while its much bigger than expected, it fits EVERYTHING that I used to lug around in 3-4 bags/suitcases!
Secondly, it has good sized pockets on the outside, and a long shoulder strap that can also be used to pull it around.
The material and wheels seem to be of great quality, and the wheels move very freely. The only “downside” for me personally (so, a preference, and not a design flaw at all) is that I wish it had a rigid pull handle (like on suitcases).
But then, I guess this would prevent it from being able to fold down and store easily.
Will upload better photos later, but I just wanted to have something to post with this review (better than nothing? ).
Anyway, this works very well for my purpose, and I hope it holds up well over time
Once you convert to top-loading, you will never go back. The versatility of this thing is incredible. I’ve used it fully open, compressed, and as a hamper all in the same trip. I use it as a hamper & a tote when I’m not traveling. The lack of bones shaves 4# off the average suitcase weight, meaning you can pack more. 5 wheels means this bad boy ain’t gonna tip even when leaning. Way easier to pack with organizers and find things. Folds completely flat to store. Completely durable and won’t scuff or rip. Easy to find at baggage claim. I’m pretty sure this thing would babysit your kids and fold your laundry if you asked it to. Get one and your eyes will be opened.
I bought the bag for my esthetician class. I needed something spacious that is sturdy and easily accessible. This provided just that. I was able to easily add my 2 containers of skin care and esthetician tools, small trash can, bed sheets, blanket, towels, portalble face steamer, and other accessories. If I needed more space I could always unzip bottom to extent height. The cherry on top was price and color selection.
