Narrow field of visio
I like this camera brand (although their app does have some annoying ads in it) as they are pretty inexpensive and do work quite well in terms of the person detection etc.
This is good for attaching to the window which is a nice and easy way to deploy a camera looking out of the front or back of your house without having to run cables outdoors.
What is a bit unfortunate about this is that it doesn’t have a very wide field of view so it doesn’t work so well once people get close up to your property.
Little window camera
It is a window camera. It is home security. It is easy to set up. The camera connects via WiFi , it works on 2.4GHz and WiFi-6. The companion app guided me through pairing in just a few minutes. It is designed for window mounting, the adhesive pad is already fitted, so I simply pressed it against the glass and angled it toward at my front window. Just let you know it is not a battery powered camera. It requires constant power via a USB adapter, so you will need a plug nearby or an extension cord. The 2K resolution, 3MP is excellent. During the day, images are clear, and I can easily identify faces, license plates, at closer range, and details like packages on the front door. At night, the colour night vision is good. The built-in AI does a good job differentiating between people, general motion, and sound. Notifications are fairly quick, usually within 2–3 seconds on my phone. The app is clean and functional, allowing me to view live video, play back recordings, and adjust settings like motion zones. It supports 24/7 continous recording. It required a microSD card which is not included. It is a compact and discreet little camera. Adhesion seems solid so far, but I’ll have to see how it holds up through summer heat and winter cold. Value for money. Good quality.
Good for security and indoor positioning protects from thef
This camera is especially easy to connect: simply download Littlelf app, set up an account and, in my case, I didn’t need to do anything else because the app instantly began searching for the camera, ‘C4’, with no input from myself and then it was ready for use. Within 3minutes from opening the box, it was in use. The easiest experience of all the cameras I’ve used!
The camera adheres to a glass door or window by applying one of the 3 stickers supplied, which has a magnet attached, to the glass pane and then the camera attaches magnetically. Thanks to 3 stickers being provided, the camera can be moved between locations.
Images are bright and clear making it ideal for home security and monitoring visitors, invited and otherwise so it is ideal for use for monitoring any area around the home, including pets in the garden. Via the app, motion and/or sound detection alerts can be sent to a phone and prowlers can be monitored remotely for home security.
The camera has the benefit for being indoors behind glass for complete security, unlike doorbell or outdoor cameras which can be damaged or stolen and there are no reflections from the glass, even with double glazing with a 20mm airgap between panes – unlike positioning a standard camera behind a window which gives double-reflections.
It also has a consistent power supply via USB it needs to be positioned close to a power socket and will have a trailing cable – bear this in mind if using on an opening window or door. It also means, because there is no internal battery backup, it will fail during a power cut – but so will the WiFi router too!
Although the camera produces clear images in both daylight and night conditions, I found the white balance varied a lot in daylight, often with a yellow cast. However, the camera is not intended to produce photographic landscapes or portraits and is intended for security and monitoring so this would not deter me at all.
It is an ideal camera for security and property monitoring, especially easy to set up and use and safe from theft. I would have preferred it to have an internal battery however to avoid the power cable trailing by our door.
Innovative new window cam
The thing that is outstanding about this camera is the colour night vision, in the smallest amount of light the camera sees in full colour rather than the black and white of IR lighting. It will not see in total darkness but works well in light where you can only just see,
This new colour technology has a shortfall in that in daytime viewing the colours are all too intense but the night colour advantage outweighs this.
This camera is also different in that it is designed for being attached to the inside of glass. This is great where you want an indoor camera to view outside. The camera is magnetically attached to a sticky pad which prevents most light reflections although there is still a little on double glazed windows. There is also an issue in that the camera can only be mounted with a view purely perpendicular to the window, you cannot adjust the camera to look left, right, up or down. If your windows are raised from the ground or upstairs, this camera will not be covering where you really require it. Perhaps and angled or adjustable mount could be provided for these situations.
The camera is provided with a power supply and a long USB cable along with three window mounts.
There are also some other features which are not publicised in that whilst in pairing mode a new WiFi AP appears in my phones list and there is also a network feature that lets the camera access a different network if the usual WiFi network is down.
Where the camera falls down is the Littlelf Smart app which seems to have issues when multiple Litocam cameras are used. If you are viewing a single camera the networking seems to work fine but when you use the Multi-View option, cameras keep dropping out with “failed to retrieve video stream messages” until no cameras are available and you have to restart the app and sometimes clear the cache. The app seems very slow and the advertising in it is intrusive, if I quickly want to see my camera I do not want to have to watch an advert. I also get dropouts and lockups when in playback mode. In the app store this recent version of this app is poorly rated. Hopefully a future update will fix these issues and allow full advantage of these new cameras.
Good quality
This uses the little elf app, which I already had. It works on 2.4 and 5 GHz. I have a smart function on my mesh routers so it makes little difference to me, but it probably means a faster connection, too.
You get a power adaptor, cable, clips and 3 stickers for the window.
Set up was quick and easy and the anti glare feature works well. It has zoom and AI enhanced colour night vision. This has motion, sound and person detection and can recognise and alert you to certain sounds, like crying or suspicious noises. Which I’ve not tested, but person detection works well if someone goes into our front garden.
You can use cloud storage, SD card, or the app also stores the latest clips so you don’t actually need either, unless you want to have a record of everything.
I like this, and find it works reliably and feels well made and well thought out. It is quite obvious in the window, but I don’t think that a bad thing.
This is a Vine Voice review, but that has not changed my opinion. I try to use or test all products, or if I can’t, I at least check them.
