I already own a LilySilk duvet insert with both silk filling and a silk outer shell, and it tends to feel cooler on hot summer nights. I wanted something warmer, so when I found this silk-filled quilt for a fraction of the price I had paid for my all-silk one, I did not hesitate to buy it.
It is amazing. It has a pleasantly substantial feel, almost like a light weighted blanket, which I personally enjoy because it helps me feel grounded and sleep more comfortably. It is also wonderfully warm, especially when used with a linen duvet cover.
The quality is excellent. I especially appreciate the additional ties along the middle, which help keep the duvet cover securely in place. The quilt is washable, although frequent washing should not be necessary when it is protected by a duvet cover. Regular airing is still a good idea.
My only mistake was ordering a California king instead of a standard king. I ended up giving it to my son, and he loves it just as much as I did.
I got sold on all silk filling for comforters when I toured a factory in China demonstrating the whole process. My last silk comforter was purchased 15 years ago. I am VERY pleased with the quality and comfort of this Lily silk
All Season Comforter. The price was very reasonable. I keep in a duvet cover so I will only wash the outer duvet. I would recommend this product.
I bought this duvet insert in 2021, so I have had it now for about two and a half years. I was dealing with menopausal hot flashes and was desperate for something to help me get some stinking sleep.
People talk about how thin it is. Mine is not thin. It isn’t thick and bulky either. It also isn’t heavy, so if you are looking for a weighted type blanket, this is not it.
It’s soft to the touch, but it doesn’t really matter. It says not to wash it in the machine – either spot clean it then hang to dry or have it dry cleaned. I paid about $250 for this when I bought it so I haven’t taken chances with it in the wash. I always use a duvet cover, which is why I say the softness doesn’t really matter. I recommend a nice microfiber duvet cover. The softness of the microfiber works really well with this insert for that soft, fluffy feel most people are after.
I don’t understand why people are saying “ease of cleaning.” I have had to spot clean it a couple of times with just a wash cloth and warm water, then thrown it in the dryer on the lowest heat possible (just air, no heat) and it fluffs it up a little and makes me feel a little better about not being able to machine wash it. But, spot cleaning isn’t easy. Taking it to the cleaners isn’t easy. Just use a duvet cover and you should be fine (unless you spill something on it).
My husband and I sleep every night with this. There have been no rips, stains, or tears. Additionally, my cats sleep on it often (without permission, but they don’t give a rats hind quarters about permission) and they approve and despite many kitty biscuits being made, there are no signs of biscuit making.
I bought a king sized for my queen sized bed. It drapes over the sides (left to right) nicely. It still seems a little short from head to toe to me, but I also like it to hang down far enough so I can tuck the end behind my footboard. This means that I can’t have it pulled up all the way to the headboard like I do my sheets. It’s not a deal breaker for me, but I thought you might like to know.
The loops that a cover would tie to are really well made and strong. They look the same as they did the day I bought the insert. Putting a cover on it is a freaking chore. This may be because mine is a king sized and I myself am not king sized. It takes me about 15 minutes to wrestle with it.
Do I love this insert? Yes. Despite not being able to wash it and despite having to pull off some ninja moves to get the cover on, the thing has made my sleep so much better. Back a long time ago when I first started writing this review I mentioned hot flashes. If you aren’t familiar with hot flashes then let me tell you – one minute you are sitting there minding your own business, the world is a happy place and then a millisecond later you being consumed by a fiery dragon that will make even your toenails sweat. You beg for relief, then just as suddenly as it came on, it disappears and you are left freezing cold. It is intense. This duvet insert helps dissipate the heat and then miraculously warms when the flash ends. I have slept much better since using it. If you struggle with hot flashes or just a hot sleeper, I recommend pairing this with a nice set of bamboo sheets. It isn’t perfect, but it has made my life a lot better.
I bought this silk comforter after researching for hoursssss which is the best one. I am allergic to dustmites and have been having asthma for over a year because of it, so I read that silk is naturally resistant to them. This comforter has the highest reviews, and I really liked the transparency in the description. I was worried that it would be too lightweight but it is the PERFECT weight. Like the description says it forms to your body so it completely regulates the temperature (for perspective it is 62 degrees in my house right now). I took a peek inside to inspect and let me tell you this is DEFINITELY the finest silk. It feels like a complete cloud in there. And the way they stitched it is great too. This is everything the description says it is, incredibly comfortable. I will never go back to a different comforter!!! I also am telling everyone in my family to buy this. Great quality, great brand. Thumps up for me!!
Ive developed an allergy to the feathers in my down duvets and while visiting family in England discovered the beauty of silk duvets. I chose this one after researching what’s important to loo, for, like that it is mulberry silk, what time of year you want to use it, and the weight that will work for the temperatures in your area. I chose the one advertised as year round, and so far, as of December 1st, it is perfect for the Pacific NW climate. Family who had them abroad said they are excellent for year round use- not too hot in the summer but warm in winter. It is heavier than a down version but not excessively so and it feels more like it hugs your body, no cold air creeps up from the edge of the bed. My partner always wats tone of blankets and I am the opposite- but this is keeping us both happy. I am very pleased with it.
Well, I agree this is a bit too hot for florida summers. I did sweat less with it even with that. It is over 2lb of silk which makes a bit more thick. Having said that , It is very light. I also have a “summer” silk one from another company that says it has 2lb of silk However it is similar in review to another person who said it was too thin. It is not the same long fiber silk as the lily silk but it is ok for summer. Both were supposed to have the same silk amount- I wonder if I got a winter one instead, or the other one was not long fiber silk but the cheaper silk that did bunch up after washing. How very Goldilocks of me!! Ha. There was some silk smell at first but I just left it outside for 1 day and it is fine. It is soooo soft and comfy that I cant give it up, so we will use it instead of our lightweight down one for cooler times. The silk is so much better than the down. Less allergy issues and breathes much better. Only gave it 4 stars because it really is an “all season” one not for summer use ( if you I’ve in Florida that is)
I bought one cheaper one, that had like two strings of silk in it so when I bought this one I was worried but hopeful, and I’m so stoked that I got this one! It feels like a regular comforter or duvet, except glorious because it’s silk inside. The thickness is perfect, the outer cotton shell is so soft, and it’s the most fluffy body, hugging and warm blanket. I have ever had the pleasure of using! I use a linen duvet cover over it. Assuming it will last for years it’s a great value for the money. It works perfectly, fits perfect in the duvet cover, functions as it supposed to.
It says not to wash, however, I am a silk aficionado and I wash every piece of silk I have so this baby will be no different. I am going to wash on delicate in Cold water and line dry so if I don’t update the review, you can assume it worked out just fine because I won’t update the review unless it gets ruined in the wash, which is highly unlikely.
So overall, it is glorious! OK bye.
Years ago, we had bought a SmartSilk brand comforter from a club store, and liked how comfortable it was in all seasons – warm in winter, but not hot in summer. Over the years, the filling had shifted so much it no longer was useful, so I went searching for a replacement. (SmartSilk no longer offered theirs in the CalKing size we needed.)
After examining many of the product listings here, I settled on the LilySilk, with a bit of trepidation. My first delight was finding that the actual size was very close to the listed size – something I have found rare with bedclothes from China. If you’re not used to silk-filled comforters you might think it was too thin, though not “t-shirt thin” as another reviewer called it. You will want to run this for 10-15 minutes in a dryer on air-only to restore the fluff from the tight packaging. Note that this comforter is not washable (the SmartSilk claimed to be.)
We were delighted to find the Lilysilk comforter warm and comfortable, with just enough weight to feel secure. It remains to be seen how effective the few sewn circles are in preventing the filling from shifting, but three weeks in we’re happy with the purchase.
Keeps you warm, even in Canadian cold nights.
Silk definitely keeps you warm, and is a sufficient weight; not for summer though. I haven’t washed it yet as I am concerned that quilt stitching is way too minimal, so I have added a lot more quilt stitching of my own to hold the silk in place for a wash.
