We purchased 4 and 2 ft wire for gopher proofing our orchard that will have 8 fruit trees and 4 hazelnut trees. We’re made an allowance for our homestead orchard, and we budgeted for everything we need for success. This wire will be buried as the horizontal barrier to keep the gophers out. It is heavy weight, with a sturdy build, which gives me confidence that it will hold up against any critters.
We’re planning to plant this weekend and will set up temporary deer fencing until the materials arrive for the 7 foot fence that will protect the garden, berry patch and orchard from deer, bear, moose etc. The 2-foot height makes it easy so we don’t have to cut wire, it’s the recommended 2 foot barrier and perfect for burying around the perimeter, and the 4-foot wire will go nicely in the bottom trench. Overall, it feels like a solid investment for protecting our future harvest!
Great price and arrived quickly. We purchased this hardware cloth to line the bottom of our raised garden beds, and it worked perfectly for that purpose. The wire is durable, a good thickness, and easy to work with. We had plenty left over for other homestead projects, including protecting our chickens from predators. Very happy with the quality and value of this product.
Great for a chicken coop
I used this as fencing around my chicken coop. It was easy to put up and super sturdy. I would advise that you wear gloves while you are handling it due to the fact it is sharp.
Favorite hardware cloth for chicken runs on our homestead
This HUNKA 1/2 inch hardware cloth has been our favorite on the homestead for building and repairing chicken runs. We’ve used quite a bit and it performs excellently.
