Well made, well padded and good looking backpack.
Pros
– Feels durable and well made. Stitching is good. Shoulder straps and laptop compartment have adequate padding (except at the bottom of the laptop compartment). Zippers work smoothly. 5 compartments and a drink bottle holder are well laid out.
– Could be used as an everyday back pack, or for travel.
– Stylish design. Blue and white with gold hardware looks very good.
– Easily fit my 16″ laptop. Should fit most laptops except the largest desktop replacements.
– Water resistant (but not waterproof).
– Value for money is reasonable considering the size and quality.
Cons
– Internal straps can get in the way if you don’t want to use them.
– Not much padding at the bottom of the bag. There is some padding at the bottom of the laptop compartment but I don’t consider it adequate. I’ll be placing my laptop in an internal sleeve or padding the bottom with material to prevent hard knocks when the bag is put down.
– White material will be difficult to keep clean.
A great layout for travel, if you don't mind a bit of bling
I needed a reliable bag that would maximize my carry-on space for quick trips, and the color layout on this one immediately caught my eye with the contrast between the beige and army green. Out of the box, the construction feels surprisingly rugged. The stitching is tight, the shoulder straps feel durable, and the main compartment unzips fully like a suitcase, which makes packing and sorting through your clothes incredibly easy. There is also a dedicated laptop slot that has some decent cushioning to it, so you don’t have to worry about your computer getting banged around when you set the bag down.
However, the styling choice on the hardware caught me off guard. The zippers are heavy-duty and glide smoothly, but I completely underestimated just how shiny and bright gold they would be in person—it is a bit too flashy for my taste, though that’s a purely cosmetic preference. On a more practical note, because this bag is so deep and holds a massive 40 liters of gear, it is incredibly easy to overpack. If you fill it to capacity, you are almost certainly going to bust right through the strict 7kg carry-on weight limit that many airlines enforce, so you have to be disciplined when loading it up. If you are looking for a spacious, well-organized personal item and don’t mind a little extra flash on the hardware, this thing absolutely does the job, but just keep an eye on the scales before you head to the airport.
Versatile, and perfect as a carry-on!
This soft-shelled suitcase is the perfect shape and size for travel. At 40 L, it is right on par, in terms of capacity, with the standard hardcover carry-on suitcase. It is incredibly versatile in that you can carry it by any of the different handles or you can choose to wear it as a backpack. It has a multitude of zippered pockets, both inside and out. It opens up nice and wide, in order to make packing and unpacking convenient. There are also straps on the inside to help hold your items in place. Another feature I really like is that each side has two clips that can be used to hold additional items or simply just further secure the suitcase.
The colours are lovely, the canvas is thick and durable, and the zippers are good quality, which is a nice touch. The gold accents add a little bit of class to this bag, making it suitable for both business or casual use.
Because of the soft covered nature of this bag, it is easy to store. It can also easily be tossed in the washing machine!
While at first glance, it does appear a little bit small, don’t let its appearance deceive you. This bag has excellent storage capacity and was well designed by someone who was looking for the perfect hybrid between backpack and traditional, carry-on suitcase.
Overall, we absolutely love this product and can’t recommend it enough!
I always travel with a travel backpack as I like the option of being able to carry it on my back and have my hands-free. This has become especially true with having a little one and needing to hold hands in public spaces like airports. This backpack is really a fantastic option whether you travel for business or pleasure.
I love the color combination with this soft green color. The material also seems like it’s going to be pretty durable and easy to wipe off.
If you are looking for multiple storage
compartments and a way to separate your travel items, then this is a great alternative. In the very back is a padded spot for your laptop/iPad/tablet and any accessories. The middle compartment is designed for clothing. When I travel for work this is typically where I store an extra outfit in case my luggage is lost. There are additional pockets to further organize items in this compartment. You have front zippered pockets for things like business cards, and smaller items. You even have a place for your water bottle to go.
The shoulder straps are padded and quite comfortable to wear, even with the heavy load. This is really a great find and something that I will use on a regular basis.
I really like this backpack. First off, it’s cute. I got the Army Green and it has a nice look to it without screaming “I’m going hiking in the wilderness.” It looks more like something you could use for travel, work, or just everyday life.
This thing holds a surprising amount of stuff. I was able to fit way more in it than I expected and I like that it opens up wide so I’m not digging around trying to find things buried at the bottom. There are enough pockets to keep me organized without feeling like I need a map to find my chapstick.
The laptop section is nicely padded and fits my larger laptop without a problem. I also like the hidden pocket on the back for things like a wallet or passport when traveling.
The straps felt comfortable and the bag didn’t feel flimsy or cheap. The material seems durable and should hold up well. It also has a luggage strap, which is handy if you’re dragging a suitcase through the airport.
My only complaint is that when you really stuff it full, it can get a little bulky, but honestly that’s because it holds so much. Overall, I think this is a great travel backpack, especially for the price. It has plenty of room, looks nice, and feels like it was designed by someone who actually travels.
I received this backpack for travel to replace my old laptop backpack ( that was very much designed to protect the laptop), this one has less padding ( which is fine for me since I do not use a laptop much nowadays), and it has a lot more room for storage, probably enough for a weekend trip.
There are plenty of pockets, the zippers all work great, especially like the zipper in the back for important documents.
It has a soft strap on the side so it can be carried like that. Also the side adjustable straps are great to extend or compact your bag. Through you have to unclip them all if you have your clothes packed inside like a regular luggage.
My one and main complaint is the shoulder strap which is too short and too low, so impossible to use. I was looking forward to that since I have back pain occasionally so it would balance better. It might work for very slim men, but impossible to use by women ( I wear a L in shirts).
The colors/design is very classy. The fabric seems ok, hope it will last many international trips.
Perfect carry-on that actually fits airline requirements
I’ve taken this backpack on three trips now and it’s become my go-to for short getaways. The 40L capacity is legit—I can fit a week’s worth of clothes, toiletries, and my laptop without it feeling stuffed. What really impressed me is how it actually meets airline personal item dimensions. I’ve had backpacks before that were supposedly TSA-approved but still got flagged at security, so I was skeptical. This one slides under the seat without any hassle. The laptop compartment is padded and secure, and I love that there’s a hidden back pocket for my phone and wallet when I’m moving through crowded airports.
The build quality feels solid. The zippers are smooth, the stitching looks reinforced, and the water-resistant material has already saved me once when I got caught in unexpected rain. It’s comfortable to wear even when packed full—the shoulder straps don’t dig in and the chest buckle actually helps distribute the weight. I also appreciate the side handle because sometimes I do want to carry it like a briefcase instead of wearing it on my back. The dusty pink color looks exactly like the photos, which is always a win. For the price, this backpack is a steal if you travel frequently or commute to work.
The backpack’s size is accurate as described, but also at the same time does feel bigger than I had expected when ordering it. It fits a 15.6 inch laptop very easily in its inner pocket. The blue color is pretty nice and the bag is pretty stylish overall. I don’t love the logo on the front, but it is just as expected and true to the product images. Each of the zippers work well without issue and there are plenty of external pockets for storing everything. I especially appreciate the small anti-theft pocket across the backside of the back for storing my passport. Even if someone steal something from the pockets without me noticing, there’s no way they’ll be able to get into that pocket while I’m wearing it. The side clips have good give and hold- ideal for something like a sport bottle for travel or hiking. The straps in the main compartment are great for holding things down, and helps this feel more like luggage than just a school backpack. I also appreciate what they call the wet pouch – perfect for storing dirty clothes like socks after a full day of hiking. At its current price of $43, I think this is a reasonable price in line with other lesser-known backpack brands in the 40L size range. It’s a perfect entry level bag for someone who may need a sturdy pack but arent’ ready to pay 3x-5x on a more professional-style bag. This will easily store enough clothes for a 3-5 day trip for a single person, maybe even more. I would happily recommend it to any friends looking for a travel pack.
The travel backpack from EMPSIGN is made from excellent materials that look very nice. The stitching is very well done. I do not see any defects in the materials or workmanship. The straps are strong and sewn in with X pattern stitching. Except for the adjustable straps, the back straps are wide and cushioned for comfort. There is a handle on one side in case you want to carry it that way. It is also cushioned and there is extra stitching to hold that on as well. The backpack looks like it will be very durable. I really like how the colors go together. The logo is rose gold, which looks a little off compared to the zippers, but that’s the only nitpick I can find.
It’s quite remarkable how much this bag can hold. It can swallow up a large laptop, and a tablet, accessories, clothing, and lots of necessities. There are 6 zippers on the exterior and inside are pockets inside of pockets. All of the zippers work without issue. Rain shouldn’t be an issue since the material is water resistant. Just don’t let it get soaked. One thing to note, the padding on the bottom is not thick so be careful when carrying a laptop and setting it down. There is a compartment that’s like a small suitcase. It has mesh on one side and straps on the other side to keep your clothes and items in place. There are many other compartments including one near the bottom of the back. The zipper is black so it blends in more. The description refers to this as an anti-theft compartment.
This is a very nice bag. It’s got tons of room yet can be carried onto a plane. The materials are all very good and it is well designed. I am genuinely impressed and plan to use it a lot.
I work remotely for an out-of-state company. As a result, I have to travel periodically to our corporate offices. I was looking for a sizable travel backpack that could serve as a carry-on suitcase, in lieu of a checked bag, when I was offered to review Empsign’s 40L Travel Backpack.
My first impression of the bag is that it is constructed from high quality, water-resistant fabric. The material is moderately thick. It is flexible and not too rigid, but feels that it would be highly durable and resistant to rips and tears. The bag has a number of zipper pulls and the zippers are of good quality and look to be reinforced.
Opening up the main zipper compartment of the backpack reveals a suitcase-like interior. The main panel has a 270 degree zipper that allows you to fully pull back the top panel. The backpack’s dimensions are 18″x14″x8″. The main section is 8″ deep and provides space for a couple or few days clothes and a light jacket. Inside the top panel, there are also two zipper compartments. These could be used for a pair of shoes (one per pocket) or for toiletries, underwear, or other smaller items. There are two straps in the interior compartment that can be connected to help secure your clothes in place.
In addition to the main interior packing section, there is another 270 degree zipper on the opposite side of the main compartment. This opens a padded compartment with two sleeves for your computer and tablet. The computer sleeve is large enough to hold up to a 17″ laptop, while the separate tablet sleeve holds a standard size IPad or IPad Pro. There is also a velcro strap across the top of both so you can secure your laptop and tablet in these sleeves.
Not to be outdone, the exterior of this travel backpack is as well appointed as its interior. The backpack’s straps are adjustable and come with a cross-body clasp to connect the two straps. There is a strap across the back that can be placed over the handle of a suitcase, for easy carrying, if you are using this in conjunction with a suitcase. On the back of the backpack is a zipper pocket that can be used for travel documents or small items.
On the front of the backpack is another zipper pocket, that would be good for a book, or large headphones, along with some inner compartments for pens and other accessories. The cover to this section also has a zipper pocket in it for additional storage. On top of that, at the top of the front of the bag is a small zipper pocket that would be perfect to hold a cell phone.
In addition, the right side of the backpack has a holder that is perfectly sized to hold up to a one liter bottle of water. Both sides of the backpack also have adjustable clasps that can be used to compress the contents of the bag. They can be unhooked to allow full access to the interior. When closed, their straps can be pulled to further compress the contents in the main compartment. These straps, in coordination with the large bottle holder space, can also be used to secure a large drink container like a Stanley stainless steel cup, as shown in the product listings photo. On the left side of the backpack (facing the front) there is also a handle that can be used to carry the backpack from its side, if you wish.
My final take: I was super-impressed with the spaciousness, multi-functionality, and quality of the Empsign 40L Travel Backpack. The bag is very durably constructed and should last me for many years. There are numerous compartments for all imaginable purposes, from clothing, to accessories, to laptops and tablets. Every item on my wishlist for a travel backpack is here, from a suitcase strap, separate side-handle, water bottle holder, laptop and tablet sleeve, and compression straps. I am so excited to use this backpack on my next trip to the corporate office and give this backpack my highest recommendation.
