This is a wonderful dvd player, my mother was told to throw out her dvds and she refused, instead I found this player which comes with both kinds of cables, she needed the hdmi. Picture, menu everything is easy to use, my mother is so so happy and glad she held out.

We still own shelves of DVDs that streaming services rotate away whenever they please, so I bought this player to reconnect our collection to the modern TV, and it’s been a plug and play success. The HDMI connection is what makes it work with today’s screens, one cable to the TV and our old discs display noticeably cleaner and sharper than I remembered from the component cable era, the upscaling does real work on picture quality. Disc compatibility has been impressively unpicky, store bought DVDs, old burned discs of home videos, music CDs and even some ancient VCDs from a relative’s collection all loaded and played without protest, and the region free capability handled a couple of overseas discs a family member sent that our old player refused on principle. Discs load quickly and playback has been smooth with no freezing, the error correction apparently shrugging off the light scratches our well loved discs carry. The USB port is a nice bonus, a flash drive of family photos ran as a slideshow at a birthday gathering straight from the port. The compact unit tucks under the TV invisibly and the remote covers everything without confusion. Honest notes, the big one in their own words, no blu ray, this is standard DVD only, know your collection. USB drives need the older format to be read. And the included cables situation should be checked, have an HDMI cable handy. For giving a DVD library a second life on a modern setup, this has worked well for us and I’d recommend it.
DVD are as rare as golden geese. This one is inexpensive. Yields a clean hidef picture. I bought a second one for the time DVDs disappear and I can’t watch my 5,000 movies without paying Netflix or Apple. It’s the region 2 BBC shows I like the best. Netflix has the habit of posting movies and then deleting them.

I bought this because we found boxes of DVDs for our kids to watch. Not only was setting this up easy but we were able to connect this to really any TV in our home. I noticed that even when we had some DVDs that had pictures and even some old home movies that were converted years ago, we were able to play those on this player too! The remote control is really easy to use and pretty basic. I was even able to take this to a family reunion so we can watch the old home movies that were converted. Compact enough to fit in any bag and completely reliable even after traveling. Even the sound came out great, even on the converted DVDs.
