Solid Trailer Hub Kit With Good Fit and Smooth Performance
I installed this BasaltAuto 3500lb trailer axle bearing and hub kit on a boat trailer and it ended up being a good replacement setup for worn factory hubs. Everything fit properly on the axle and the bearings seated correctly without needing extra modification or machining.
The construction feels solid with heavy steel hubs and decent-quality bearings that handled towing smoothly once everything was greased and installed. The hubs spun evenly without excessive play, and the overall setup felt dependable during highway towing and repeated boat launches.
Installation was fairly straightforward, especially since the kit includes many of the needed components together instead of piecing everything out separately. Ease of use was good overall, and having the bearings, races, seals, and lug pattern already matched up saved a lot of time during the repair.

Good hub for standard 3500 lb tapered axle, bearings installed and pre-greased
I have a double axle trailer that is now about 12 years old. It has been used exclusively in salt water so the hubs have lost some steel with flaking rust and are due for a replacement. These hubs appear to be of good quality. I happened to have another set from another manufacturer to compare these to, it is difficult to compare them to the existing hubs (thickness dimensions and weight) due to the condition of the existing hubs. But in comparison to another brand, these appear to be more cleanly cast and have a smoother finish. In comparing them, the thickness of the other brand’s rim is 0.473″ while this item’s rim is 0.423″, a difference of 0.05″ or about 1.2 mm. The other brand though makes no mention of the grade of steel, but these do state they are compliant to the G3000 standard which is a particular alloy engineered for durability, vibration dampening and machinability. These are more than likely a better engineered hub than the others I have. In addition to the thickness, these hubs weigh about 3 ounces less than the other brand. Not being an engineer, I don’t know how much this matters since there’s obviously a difference in the type of steel used in the two brands of hubs.
The hubs come packaged well with the bearings in place, greased, and sealed with plastic caps. At the price of $69.99 per set, these appear to be well priced for like items, but substantially less than what others would cost in a retail trailer or boating store.
Overall I’d have no issues using these in replacement of my current hubs, and will use these on one axle and the other brand on the second axle. I’ll see in a year or so which set wins.
