    Every beekeeper should have this
Love this screened bottom board for my beehive. I can slide it out like a drawer and see all the dirt they have made. This makes it easier to help the bees to keep their house clean. I also saw a larvae of a wax moth so I was able to inspect my hive for this. Also the screen gives them ventilation and helps the bees especially in the summer. It is well built and easy to clean and maintain. The drawer bottom is metal everything else wood. This is for a 10 frame beehive. Super happy with this!

    Tight-fit tray, mostly solid constructio
I swapped this in as a replacement for a solid bottom board and my bees took to it right away. The metal tray’s corners are folded, welded, and caulked, making for a solid pan that holds detritus or water well away from the screen – though one corner on mine was only partially caulked. The tray fits snugly within its boxed-in wood channel, though one of the retaining pieces was coming loose — I may need to screw it down if it happens again.

One corner measures almost one degree out of square, which doesn’t sound like much but produces a noticeable runout over the long side. The beeswax coating is visibly thinner in some spots.

The included entrance reducer has two openings at the standard 3/8″ height — one roughly 1″ wide and the other about 4″ — which covers a useful range. My brood box uses a different reducer style that mounts in front of the box, and the overhang of the two combined isn’t my preference, but it works until I sort out a better arrangement.

Golden Review Award: 1 From Our UsersAwesome SHB/Mite tray
This might just be the best designed screened bottom board I have ever used. Usually they have this flimsy corrugated board that goes under neath, but this one has a full galvanized metal tray. This keeps SHB larvae from getting to the ground where they become a hige problem. Just put a cup of diatamaceous earth in the bottom to kill them off. This design is also better in the winter so keep heavy drafts out.

The screen is sturdy with a nice tight mesh that lets excellent airflow through while keeping the bees secure. I love being able to slide the tray in and out to monitor varroa mite drops and hive debris without opening the whole hive.

It fits my standard 10-frame boxes perfectly and feels well built with solid wood sides. Ventilation has improved noticeably, especially during hot summers, and the bees seem calmer and healthier.

Overall, solid quality and a must have for better hive management. Highly recommend for backyard beekeepers!

A well built screened bottom board
We like it. First of all, it’s wax dipped. We wish all of our equipment were waxed dipped. It repels water and looks cool, so it doesn’t need to be painted. The quality is good. The tray for cleaning the hive debris does stick slightly while sliding in and out, but is functional otherwise. The hive feels cooler than the outside temperature so I like to think it’s helping with the cooling of the hive. This bottom board has been a good addition to our hive.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersTRINFREE is becoming my favorite beekeeping brand!
This is a beautiful screened bottom board for a ten frame hive from a brand that is becoming one of my new favorite brands for beekeeping woodenware. I’ve been a beekeeper for over 6 years now, and I even make my own woodenware. When I don’t have time to make something for my apiary, this is the brand I am going to. The quality of this bottom board is fantastic, it’s made from quality wood, dipped in wax (TWICE!) , and constructed very well. The hardware cloth is not your standard cheap hardware cloth, it is made from a high quality screen that will last years. I really like the removeable tray to clean out frass from the bottom of the hive, fill with a oil/water mixture to prevent ants, and to line with foam to help the bees insulate better over the winter. This bottom board will provide plenty of ventilation over the summer months. The dimensions are perfect for standard Langstroth hives. The price is also perfect for this type of woodenware. Overall, an excellent product that I would highly recommend!

The best 10 frame bottom board I've ever found
This is a superior product. I no longer get my beekeeping supplies from the national catalog stores. Everything comes from Amazon and this beeswax coated, Langstroth, screened bottom board for a10 frame hive box is a great example of why. High quality, well constructed using excellent material – I can’t say enough at how great this bottom board is. I absolutely love the metal pull out tray. Some bottom boards use a corrugated whiteboard, which is fine, but those need replaced each season if not more often. The metal board slides in and out easily and is so easy to clean. The screen used is very sturdy and being coated in beeswax is one less step for me to prep this to use. Actually, there is not prepping needed. Open box and it is ready to go.

Keep your bees cool during the hot months of summe
This review is for the “Metal Bee Hive Screened Bottom Board Beeswax Coated, Langstroth 10 Frame Screen Bottom Board with Entrance Reducer for Beekeeper Summer Replacement”

I have been a bee keeper since 2020 and I love to new equipment to make things better for the bees and to make my life easier. I have used screened bottom boards that have slide in plastic board that items fall onto through the screen in order to view what is going on in the hive. One of the things to view is varrora mite count after treating the hive. This product has improved on that design by making the slide in part a drawer instead of a plank. I love that idea because with the plank, a slight mistake and all the contents can be dumped on the ground. This design captures the contents and keeps the contents more secure.

The frame itself is made of quality wood that is weather proof with a coating of bees was. Time was taken to inlay the screen so there are no part of the screen that is sticking up to snag on gloves or hands. The metal tray is well made and the corners are spot welded. The corner seams of the tray are caulked to prevent drafts.

A lot of thought and engineering has gone into this product and for the most part I am very impressed with it. If there was something that I would rather see better is the joints of the product. The manufacture is done with basic “Butt” joints but a rabbet joint is better.

This product works for a 10 frame Langstroth hive and should last several seasons.
