For controlling 16 zones, this is a great value.
I ordered this at just about the perfect time. We recently had a new pool installed and are now in the middle of redoing both our backyard and front yard landscaping, so a smart sprinkler controller made a lot of sense. Once it arrived, we did what any smart homeowner would do, we handed it to our landscaping company and let the professionals install it. The unit itself looks clean, feels well made, and appears to be built to handle outdoor use and weather. The fact that it can control up to 16 zones is a huge plus, especially when you have different areas of grass, plants, beds, and new landscaping that all need different watering schedules.

The installation went well overall, but we are still working through a few connection issues with the app setup. To be fair, my wife and I are using older Samsung Galaxy phones, so some of the trouble may be on our end and not necessarily the controller. Once we get everything ironed out, I’m really looking forward to connecting it with Alexa and having that extra level of control over the watering schedule. The weather intelligence and rain skip features are also a big deal because nobody wants to pay to water the yard while Mother Nature is already doing the job for free. For the features, zone capacity, and overall build, this feels like a great value. I’ll update my review once we get the app connection fully sorted out.

Golden Review Award: 1 From Our UsersFantastic Upgrade --- Works Very Well ---
We have been landscaping the property incrementally and have had a few controllers in two different places, until now. It was a bit of effort, but not frustrating, in that we needed to move some of the wires to the place this is now mounted. To make that easy this kit comes with tags that stick to the wire ends and that made this much less confusing and a template to assure a clean job of mounting it on our wall.

The effort of connecting everything was then truly straight-forward. Once that was done we set it up, programming something close to our original settings. After a few days, and with the help of the app and it’s very detailed options, we had a greater understanding of our water usage, the needs of the soil and the plants.

With this level of detail we now hope to resolve some earlier decisions as to how we have been watering and finally get those slow-growing areas to respond to more detailed zone control. Our old controllers had no real feedback, leak detection or automation with respect to our local micro-climate.

The weather monitoring, we always assumed, would be a lot more expensive – requiring a host of sensors and logic. But, this controller has it all on the app making it a fantastic value all around. We still have five zones “open” and waiting for more landscaping to happen, reinforcing just how very capable this unit is.

In our opinion this is a real improvement and a time-saving machine. It works great, monitors the local weather and adjusts (skipping wet or cold days) our program accordingly. The ability to name and visualize the zones, track our water usage and identify issues before plants experience problems make this an easy controller to whole-heartedly recommend.

Golden Review Award: 1 From Our UsersA smart irrigation upgrade that saves water and simplifies lawn care
Replacing an old sprinkler timer with a smart controller is one of those upgrades that pays off every time the weather changes. This 8-zone WiFi irrigation controller brings together weather-aware scheduling, app-based management, and flexible zone programming into a system that is both easy to install and easy to live with. Being able to adjust watering from anywhere, automatically skip irrigation when rain is on the way, and receive system alerts makes lawn care feel much less like a chore. As long as you’re prepared for the 2.4 GHz WiFi requirement and a little patience during setup, this controller is an excellent modernization of a traditional irrigation system.

    My Rubric

Good = Qualifies as a selling point

So-So = Not great, but also nothing resembling a show stopper

Not Good = Could be a show stopper

My star ratings, which tend to skew upward due to limitations in the 5 star system are further elaborated in a decimalized scoring at the end of the review.

Finally, although some items have been freely offered via the Vine system, I refuse to sell out and will never allow a vendor to influence my scoring through any means other than the quality of the product, both on its own and in relation to the current pricing at the time of my review. I value the efforts of other honest reviewers and wish nothing more than to pay their efforts forward in hopes of faithfully guiding others to informed decisions.

    The Good

Easy installation, Swapping over from an existing controller is straightforward and well within the abilities of most homeowners.

Excellent weather intelligence, Automatically skips watering during rain, freezing temperatures, high winds, and overly saturated conditions.

Convenient smartphone control, Manage schedules, monitor water usage, and make adjustments from virtually anywhere.

Flexible zone programming, Each irrigation zone can be customized independently for different plants and landscape needs.

Helpful diagnostics and alerts, Leak detection, flow monitoring, and fault notifications provide added peace of mind.

Alexa compatibility, Voice control adds another layer of convenience for manual watering.

Potential water savings, Intelligent scheduling helps reduce unnecessary irrigation and lower water bills.

    The So-So

Initial app setup may require patience, Some users may encounter connection or configuration hiccups before everything is running smoothly.

2.4 GHz WiFi only, Homes using combined 2.4/5 GHz networks may need to make temporary router adjustments during setup.

Advanced features take time to learn, The extensive customization options are excellent, but they come with a modest learning curve.

    The Not-Good

    None.

    The Details

What I appreciate most is how much smarter this controller is than the traditional timer boxes many of us have been using for years. Instead of blindly watering on a fixed schedule, it takes local weather into account and adjusts accordingly. That means fewer wasted watering cycles, healthier landscaping, and less frustration when Mother Nature decides to handle irrigation herself. The ability to customize each zone individually is also a huge advantage for yards with a mix of lawns, shrubs, flower beds, and gardens that all have different watering needs.

The app is where most of the day-to-day interaction happens, and once configured it provides excellent control. I like being able to adjust schedules remotely, monitor water usage, and receive alerts if something doesn’t look right. Features like cycle-and-soak mode, zone delays, weather skips, and diagnostics make this feel more like a professional irrigation controller than a basic residential timer.

The only area that may test your patience is the initial setup. The controller relies on a 2.4 GHz WiFi network, and some users have reported needing a little extra time to get the app connected properly. Fortunately, once everything is configured, the system appears to operate reliably and largely takes care of itself. For homeowners looking to modernize an existing irrigation system while conserving water and gaining much greater control, this is a feature-rich upgrade that delivers excellent value.

Final Rating: 4.7/5 (Smart weather-based automation, flexible programming, and convenient app control make this an excellent upgrade for most irrigation systems.)

    Love the wifi interface!
A lot of times, sprinklers timers don’t offer the flexibility I need. They might not allow different sprinkler actions at different programs or the start times might be in fixed intervals. When you look at the box on this controller, you’d think that it would either have few programming options or be difficult to navigate. Thankfully there’s an app for that! The wifi interface is super easy to navigate and there’s plenty of programming flexibility built in to the system, making this clock a great product and a fine addition to anyone’s garden irrigation system.

Great sprinkler system controller - love that it has 16 zone feature!
We haven’t been able to get this installed yet because the rain here has been nonstop, but this is going to be connected to our aerobic system once things finally dry out enough to work outside. I did a lot of reading on it before ordering, though, and so far I’m really impressed with the features for the priceand that I can connect it to an aerobic system.

The second biggest reason I wanted this controller was the weather intelligence feature. I love the idea that it can automatically skip watering when it’s raining, freezing, or too windy instead of wasting water or over-saturating everything. Since ours will be tied into the aerobic sprinkler setup, that was a huge plus for me because I definitely don’t want sprinklers running when the ground is already soaked.

I also liked that each zone can be customized separately. We have different areas that need different amounts of water, so being able to fine-tune everything instead of using one blanket setting sounds much smarter than the old timer systems.

The Flex Daily program especially sounds useful once summer heat kicks in.

Another thing that stood out to me while researching reviews was the built-in diagnostics and leak alerts. A lot of controllers in this price range don’t seem to offer that level of monitoring. The surge protection was also nice to see because storms around here can get rough.

The app control looks pretty straightforward too, which I appreciate because I’m not interested in standing outside turning little dials and pushing buttons anymore. I also like that it works with Alexa and Google Assistant.

Most reviews I read seemed positive overall, especially about the features and easy setup. A few people mentioned the app can take a little patience during the initial connection process, but most said once it’s set up, it works really well and is easy to manage from your phone.

Right now I’m basically waiting on the weather so we can finally install it, but if it performs as well as it sounds on paper, I think this is going to make managing the aerobic sprinkler system a whole lot easier and smarter.

Solid upgrade for a complex yard setup
I have a steep berm planted with different shrubs and a main lawn with TifTuf Bermuda, so having 16 independent zones is a lifesaver. The physical install was super easy. Moving the wires from my old basic controller to this new box took maybe twenty minutes. The unit itself feels sturdy enough and looks a lot cleaner on the garage wall.

Getting it connected to my phone was a bit of a headache though. The app got stuck on an address screen during setup and just froze. I had to mess around with it and wait on an app update to finally make it work. Also keep in mind it only connects to a 2.4 GHz wifi network. If your router automatically blends your wifi bands, you might have to split them temporarily just to get this thing online.

Once the software hurdles were cleared, it has been smooth sailing. The interface is actually really easy to navigate. My favorite feature is the weather tracking. It automatically skips a schedule if rain is in the forecast, which keeps the lawn from getting totally waterlogged and saves some cash on the water bill. If you have a lot of different watering needs across your property, this is a really good unit once you get past the initial app setup.

    Pros:

    – 16 separate zones for precise control

    – Physical wiring is very fast and simple

    – Weather feature actually works to save water

    Cons:

    – App can be buggy and freeze during setup

    – Requires a 2.4 GHz network connection to pai

Terrific irrigation controller, but not for the impatient or faint of heart...
This smart controller offers a wealth of options and settings. If sections of your yard or garden have differing water requirements (amount of water, duration of flow, frequency of operation), this is for you. You can configure each of the eight zones individually and monitor the progress through the app.

So yes, It requires you to install an app on your mobile device and sign up for an account. Remo Garden certifies that the data it transmits is encrypted and that they don’t share it with third parties. There have been reports that the Android app has had problems but Remo Garden’s support staff has been quick to respond and find solutions.

Also, the weather-sensitive features require purchasing a separate rain gauge.

With all these features and options, you can imagine that setup is quite complex. Yep, it sure is. It helps if you have an existing irrigation system that you can map over to this device. (It also helps if you have an engineering degree and decades of experience with electronic controls, but it’s possible without that…just not as easy.)

Functionally, it works very well. It distributes water reliably and has an array of alerts, diagnostic routines, flow monitors, and leak detectors to let you know about problems. (It also is compatible with Alexa devices but that’s more or less a toss-away because how many times do you think you’ll engage in conversation with your irrigation system?)

Still, with all the features and potential savings in water and labor, it’s well worth the price and the investment in time.
