Bolts
I wish the bolts were on the back side b/c they are very noticeable to me. Also, why can’t there be a light for nighttime? Pretty pricey for the size I feel, but the yellow sun makes me happy anyway so a def keeper!
Cute, decent sized clock
So the 24 inch description is the size of the entire clock with the sun rays attached. Attaching the rays was easy enough, and adding those on gives the whole thing a decent weight. I don’t think it’s going to get blown off the side of the house anytime soon!
The clock itself is all plastic, but the rays are painted metal. The battery compartment has a silicone seal that seems pretty tight so it should do the job of keeping the compartment dry.
The plastic body construction is the only thing I don’t like; that aspect makes me think that the item isn’t worth the price. Still, it’s cute and the numbers are big enough that I’ll be able to see the time and temp from a good distance. Just would like it better if the body of the clock was a sturdier material.
Great, simple combo clock
This clock is perfect for any outdoor space. It comes in five pieces, the main assembly, and four petal sections. They’re easy to install, you just use the included wingnuts and bolts, the whole process takes about 3 minutes. To install the required AA battery, you just remove the weather sealed rear cover, it twists off, but it’s pretty secure, so it will take some effort to remove it. Just set the time before putting the cover back on.
As for how it functions, I’d say it’s extremely good for what it is. The clock seems to keep time pretty well, I don’t need it to be perfect when I’m outside, just give me a good idea of what the time is, but I think it’s pretty accurate. What I really like is that it also has a humidity gauge and a temperature gauge, both of which appear to be very accurate. The design of this clock/thermometer is cute, it fits in with most outdoor decor and it’s bright and cheery. The gauges themselves are a little small, but clearly legible, the clockface is huge and can be seen clearly from across my yard. The whole thing is actually kind of heavy, I wish the mounting slot on the back was more than just a cutout or offered a bit more security when you hang it, as it is I would definitely take this down if it got too windy outside.
Overall though, I’m pretty impressed with the quality and price of this combo clock. It does everything well while looking good and is a very solid value. I definitely recommend this product.
Nice bright and cheery addition to our lanai
The clock arrived in a nice box and very well secured in foam packaging so there is little chance of damage during shipment. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. The assembly was very simple as the unit comprised of the clock face and rim, although plastic, are well made and very sturdy. The floral “petals”, a heavier metal material, easily attach to the base clock. The pre-cut machined holes aligned perfectly and the screws and wingnuts are heavy duty. Once assembled it is fairly heavy. We have it on an outdoor stucco/concrete wall, so the weight is not an issue. The clock is very bright and cheery. Because the numbers are clear it is very easy to read the clock face from a distance. The temperature and humidity reading numbers are a little small and, because we have the clock sheltered in a lanai, I am not sure how accurately it can record this information so I will assume that given optimal conditions it would likely be effective. I only wish that the connecting bolts on the petals were pre-painted a matching yellow to blend with the clock. This is probably an easy fix, and I may eventually consider a dab of matching paint to each small bolt. This clock, based on the construction should be capable of enduring the outdoor elements. The battery housing is well sealed and the way the clock is constructed it should keep the rain out of the back of the clock face. This clock has been a bright sunny addition to our back yard area.
Smaller but heavier than expected
Maybe it’s that the pedals weren’t attached right out of the box but the clock did not seem as large as I thought it would. That said, it definitely felt as heavy, and more! I initially was thinking of hanging this in an interior stairway but given the hefty weight, I would say this definitely leans more towards an exterior accent piece. So it will be going up on my patio as soon as the rain lets up long enough.
Couple other notes regarding features of the clock: the time function works as it should, holds accurate time consistently. Both the thermometer hygrometer readings this item gave matched up with the smart hygrometer I keep in my fridge, so I’m going to say those two features work as advertised as well.
But the biggest feature of all on this one is the beautiful sunflower design. The listing pics really don’t do it justice! I love that the per as is are solid metal, making the frame almost indestructible!
Overall would buy another of these & highly recommends.
