Simple way to protect your friends and fam!
This Kidde Wi-Fi Carbon Monoxide Alarm is a must-have for anyone looking to modernize their home safety without the hassle of a monthly subscription. The setup is incredibly fast—just a quick QR scan in the app—and it integrates perfectly with my Alexa and Google Home ecosystem. I love the peace of mind that comes with real-time phone notifications, especially since I can monitor the house while I’m away at work or traveling. The plug-in design with a rotating head is genius for fitting into tight spots, and the AA battery backup means it stays on guard even if the power goes out. Plus, knowing it meets UL 2034 standards and comes with a 10-year warranty makes it a truly reliable investment for any homeowner or renter.
Pro Tip: If you have multiple properties or a large home, use the app to custom-name each device based on its specific location (like “Garage” or “Guest House”); this ensures that if an alert hits your phone, you know exactly where the issue is located before you even step through the door.

Peace of Mind with Smart Protection!
The Kidde Smart Carbon Monoxide Detector COPDW is one of those products you buy for peace of mind—and it absolutely delivers. Setup was quick and straightforward, and connecting it to Wi-Fi was smooth. Within minutes, I was getting real-time notifications right on my phone, which is a huge plus.

I really like the plug-in design with battery backup. You don’t have to worry about it going offline during a power outage, which is critical for something this important. The rotating plug also makes it easy to fit in different outlets without blocking anything.

The alarm is loud and clear, exactly what you want in an emergency, and the app alerts add an extra layer of security when you’re not home. It’s reassuring to know I’ll be notified immediately if anything is off.

Overall, this is a smart, reliable upgrade from standard detectors. Easy to use, dependable, and gives real peace of mind—highly recommend for any home.

Smart carbon monoxide detector with real-time app alerts and night-friendly alarms
The plug-in design with rotating plug made installation quick and easy. I simply plugged it into a standard 120 volt outlet, rotated the base 90 degrees to fit vertically in the outlet, and it was ready to go.

I get real-time mobile notifications via the Kidde app. As it uses two AA batteries as backup, it switches to battery power, when I unplug it or when there’s a power outage. The app also shows current CO levels, though this model doesn’t display low-level readings continuously, only alarms at dangerous thresholds per UL 2034 standards. Setup required connecting to my 2.4 gigahertz Wi-Fi network, with no 5 gigahertz support, and the process took under five minutes using the guided steps in the app.

The backlit digital display is easy to read with a quick button press, even in total darkness.

According to the manual, the electrochemical sensor meets all required response times, for example alarming within 4 to 15 minutes at 400 parts per million, and the AA battery backup with two included ensures continuous operation during outages. During power outage I see the green LED blink every 60 seconds to confirm battery-only mode, but the unit remains fully functional.

I learned that Wi-Fi connectivity needs AC power, so the smart function disables if unplugged, and battery-only mode is local alarm only. As the manual states, mobile alerts are ancillary, soI should never rely solely on phone notifications for safety. Placement matters. The detector must be in conditioned spaces, not garages or basements below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, and away from humidity sources like bathrooms according to the manual.

There’s a HUSH function for nuisance alarms but I haven’t used it so far because of lack of false alarms. There’s a test button I have to long press. I hear the monitor chirping loudly a couple of times.

On the back of the unit, I see it’s Intertek listed and made in China with PCBA from Malaysia. I didn’t find any expiration date but it says that the unit blinks twice with 2 chirps every 60 seconds and the display shows the word End. But I found what I think is the manufacturing date in bold numbers: 2025 Dec.26. It also says to test weekly and replace batteries at least once a year. And it also says the lid won’t close without batteries installed.

As it’s plug-in, I can also carry it with me and use it wherever there’s an outlet. I think that makes it quite valuable.

    Great for peace of mind
I decided to get this after seeing a video about a family dealing with carbon monoxide exposure, and it really stuck with me. We already had detectors in the house, but it made me realize you can never be too careful, especially with kids. I wanted an extra layer of protection, so I added this one near the kids’ rooms for peace of mind.

The setup was very simple and straightforward. It plugged in easily and was ready to go within minutes, which I really appreciated. There’s nothing complicated about getting it up and running, so it’s something anyone can install quickly without needing help.

So far, it seems to be working as expected. It gives that sense of reassurance just knowing it’s there, especially at night when everyone is asleep. It’s one of those products you hope you never actually need, but you’re very glad to have.

One thing I’m still curious about is how to properly test it beyond just using the basic test button. I’d like to feel even more confident knowing it would detect an actual issue, so that’s something I plan to look into more.

Overall, this was an easy and worthwhile addition to our home safety setup. It’s affordable, simple to install, and adds an extra level of protection for our family. If you have kids or just want additional peace of mind, I definitely think it’s worth having more than one detector in your home.
