Excellent quality and value cooling shredded foam pillow two pack
I have pillow issues and have tried all kinds to try to get comfortable sleep. I have the weird shaped foam pillows and a variety of wedges and a few shredded foam pillows and even a cooling pillow prior to this one. First off, this is a full sized pillow that fills queen sized pillowcases, it’s not shrunken down like some foam pillows are.
The cooling feature is on the blue stitched side, and underneath the cover is a layer of blue cloth that a wicks away the heat. It actually seems to work. A previous cooling pillow I bought had a gel panel that cooled, but caused me to sweat since it was not a breathable fabric, so it ended up being uncomfortable-this pillow does not fail that way.
The stuffing is shredded blue memory foam, and since it’s in a zippered cover you can remove foam to custom fit it to your needs if you like a less full pillow. The pillow is fluffy, but also has some firmness when compressed, so it’s easy to mold it to fit.
This set is a great value, including two pillows for a reasonable price. They come rolled and compressed as shown in one of my photos. They were quick to recover from compression, and there was no odd chemical odor at all, which is sometimes an issue with foam pillows.
Surprisingly good pillows that don't deform like most shredded foam.
I’ve been… experimenting with the trend of shredded memory foam pillows lately. For the past several years this seems to be the “hot” pillow type, even more than the previous generation of solid memory foam pillows. And there’s always a new random brand coming out with more pillows in this space (shredded memory foam, bamboo, etc).
I was also put off a little at first because despite being the adjustable shredded foam style of pillow, it didn’t come with the “maximum” stuffing to remove what you want until it gets comfortable. After using it for at least a week now I will say that it has the correct amount of foam inside of it already. I think it is also the pillow case material used, but it also doesn’t stay deformed like with other pillows (where you lose the support in the middle and it’s all dense on the sides) and it goes back to normal pretty quickly and stays evenly distributed.
I’m a stickler for the “cooling” quality of pillows and this one is just OK. Don’t expect anything magical in terms of temperature control for hot sleepers. It will still get very warm.
This also hasn’t given me any neck issues, which some pillows have done. After a few days I can usually find out if a pillow will cause me to wake up with a stiff neck, but this one doesn’t do that.
My wife likes it OK, but she claims she’s been waking up with headaches for the past few days while using this pillow and at the moment attributes this to the use of this pillow.
But for the cost of a 2-pack and the surprising comfort, I think this is easily worth a shot.
Oh, and the material of the pillow, unlike my last few of these kinds of pillows, doesn’t slowly come up in spider-silk strands in my beard. The other softer cotton cases will slowly unravel and leave strands in my beard and it is very uncomfortable and weird to clean up. But this one doesn’t seem to do that, which is also great.
A Lifesaver!
I ordered what I thought was one pillow but it was a two pack! So already I’m stoked, it was like a buy one get one free. Totally worth the price. They come vacuum sealed and really should have a day to fluff up fully. But I couldn’t wait. I put them in my pillowcases and they set up for a few hours before bed. They were sufficiently fluffed for the night, but a few nights later is when I really noticed how big they got. It’s perfect. They mold to your shape, which is great for side sleepers. No more stiff neck or hurt shoulders! Two of them stacked are great for reading in bed.
Ok, so one side of the pillow has a “cooling” feature. And it’s definitely cooler when you’re touching the bare pillow. After a few nights using it I wanted to see if I could feel a difference with a pillowcase on it. Aka- I was having a hot flash and needed to flip the pillow and couldn’t remember what side I was on. Well, after I flipped and was kinda disappointed because I didn’t feel a difference, I flipped it again and felt total relief; I had been using the cool side first so when I flipped it, it rapidly cooled down and so when I flipped again it was very much more cool than the regular side. Honestly, kinda impressed with how fast it cooled down, especially pressed against the mattress.
After using them for a couple of weeks now, I’d definitely recommend them. I need to see if they have king size for my bed, and these standard ones can be used in the spare room. The only negative thing I can say is it did have an off gassing odor right out of the packaging, but it totally went away by the time I was going to bed that first night. If you’re sensitive, just let them fluff up for a couple of days to make sure it’s gone, or toss in the dryer with some wool balls and a little essential oils.
Great but definitely need to reduce stuffing
The first night you sleep on it is perfect and then it fully inflates and is too hard but it’s great that you can remove more of the insides to make it soft again. I wish the pillowcase didn’t have the intense pattern on it because it is very visible through my nice satin Kitsch pillowcases.
I’ve been sleeping with a major brand shredded foam pillow for years. I was intrigued by this pillow’s cooling claim. This pillow came compressed in a tube of plastic. When I opened the tube it expanded readily, but it also had a synthetic odor to it. Fortunately I opened it in the morning and the odor mostly dissipated during the day so by the time I went to bed I had to try to smell it. The pillow has an outer cover that zips open to be removed for easy washing. The inner pillow also zips open so that I can see that this is filled with shredded foam mixed with a cottony filler. The inner pillow is labeled as not washable.
I didn’t find the cooling feature of this pillow to be substantial at all. One side of the outer cover has a fabric that does feel cool to the touch at first, but that feeling goes away quickly with constant contact and is not noticeable at all if you put the pillow in a pillow case. I have seen foam bedding products where the foam itself has a gel that provides longer lasting cooling. This product is not like that at all.
The pillow does hold it’s form well and I feel about as well supported as the pillow I usually use. The pillow I usually use is filled only with shredded foam which makes it possible to customize the shape more (but also requires reshaping frequently).
Overall, this seems to be a really good pillow for the price.
Coolness!
Love these new pillows. Not only is the inside soft, the material on the outside is soft. They fit well in my regular pillowcases. The support is perfect for this side sleeper. And they really feel cool to the touch!
They had a chemical smell when I first opened the vacuum pack, but I’m not sure if it was the pillows themself or the vacuum plastic. Either way, the smell was gone after I aired them out over night.
I’d purchase again.
Comfortable and easy to customize
I was pleasantly surprised by this pillow. The adjustable shredded memory foam filling makes it easy to find the right level of support, whether you prefer a higher or lower pillow. It feels comfortable and supportive without being too firm.
The cooling cover is a nice feature, especially in a warm climate, and the pillow maintains its shape well throughout the night. After several nights of use, I’ve been sleeping comfortably and waking up without the neck stiffness I sometimes experience with other pillows.
The adjustable filling is the standout feature. You can customize the loft to your preference, and the pillow provides a good balance of comfort and support. Great option for side and back sleepers.
