    A simple way to manage your sprinkler system.
    I replaced my old sprinkler controller with this because I wanted something I could manage from my phone. The installation was pretty straightforward, and the app made it easy to set schedules and manually run zones when I needed to. I also like that it automatically skips watering when rain is expected, and it’s nice that the core features don’t require a subscription. It’s been an easy upgrade that keeps everything running without much effort.

    Pros:

    * Easy installation

    * Simple app

    * No subscription

    * Rain skip feature

    * Remote control

    Cons:

    * None

    Overall, I’d recommend it if you want a simple way to manage your sprinkler system.

    Finally Control My Irrigation From My Phone
    My irrigation controller is mounted on the side of my house behind a row of thick, healthy shrubs. Every time I needed to adjust a watering schedule, disable the system after heavy rain, or troubleshoot a zone, I had to fight through landscaping and whatever bugs had decided to move in. A WiFi-enabled controller has been on my wish list for years.

    Before starting the installation, I took a photo of the wiring in my existing controller. That’s a step I highly recommend because it makes reconnecting the zones much easier later.

    I replaced a Hunter X-Core controller and found the installation to be mostly straightforward. The only challenge was that the wiring opening on this controller was slightly smaller than my previous one. A few minutes with a Dremel tool solved the problem, and I was able to route the wires without issue.

    Connecting the zone wires was simple thanks to the push-in terminals. The mounting holes didn’t line up with my previous controller, so I had to drill two new holes into my brick exterior, but that was a minor inconvenience.

    Once everything was wired and powered up, the controller came to life immediately. From there, I downloaded the app, connected the controller to WiFi, and started setting up my irrigation zones.

    The app setup process is one of the highlights. It encourages you to upload photos of each zone, which makes identifying them later incredibly easy. It also asks about the type of vegetation in each area—grass, flowers, shrubs, and more—and provides watering recommendations based on those selections.

    After everything was configured, I proudly demonstrated to my wife how I could activate each zone directly from my phone. She wasn’t nearly as excited as I was, but I suspect she’ll appreciate the healthier lawn and lower water bill just as much.

    For homeowners looking to modernize an older irrigation system, this controller offers a significant convenience upgrade and makes managing your watering schedule dramatically easier.

    Impressive System at a Great Price
    This is a very impressive and sophisticated sprinkler system controller. Will control 8 zones using the traditional 24 Volt AC control type which almost all sprinkler control valves use, so it’s almost certainly compatible with the rest of your present system. Requires a 120VAC receptacle to power the system. It’s very solidly constructed and weatherproof enough for outdoor use.

    Installation is easy, especially if you are replacing an existing controller with this one. Just note the wire connections and replicate that on this new controller. Very good and clear directions are included, complete with pictures of what to do. This is the easiest to install controller I’ve seen. Everything you need is included. You don’t even need a little screwdriver to connect the sprinkler control wires.

    The unit is capable of adding individual soil moisture sensors (not included in this kit, but available separately). You can place the sensors anywhere in range of the base station, but remember to move them before you mow! There are full details of how and where to place them in the User’s Manual. These sensors are about $30 each at the present time. I did not invest in them yet. That price seems high until you remember they are communicating with the controller wirelessly.

    The app needed to program the device is good and connection was fast and simple. Using the controller is equally simple. Nothing complicated. The app even helps you water efficiently and identify problems with your system. This is great when getting everything set up and working. Down the road it will help you maintain the proper moisture levels in your garden and lawn. The moisture sensors are really needed for this function, however.

    Just use the app to turn things on and off manually, as needed, or program in your schedule. It’s easy and everything seems to work fine. It defaults to “once per day” watering, which should be fine for a lawn, but you might want more frequent watering for a garden area. Just schedule it for one time per day, and do the second watering manually. Ultimately this saves on water and expenses too.

    Overall a good and complete system that’s well designed and built. I’m impressed with the controller construction and how well thought out the entire package is. And it’s a great value at the current price, beating other similar controllers in functionality and features.

    One thing that really surprised me about this system is how useful the app is. Besides being able to remotely control and monitor the irrigation system from my phone, the built-in AI chat feature is actually very helpful. I’ve been using it to ask questions about my plants, lawn care, and watering schedules, and it gives detailed and practical suggestions.

    I uploaded a photo of one of the plants in my yard and it was able to identify the plant and give care instructions right away. Such a cool and convenient feature to have built into a sprinkler controller app. Overall, very impressed so far.

    Really happy with this smart irrigation controller so far. The packaging was clean and organized, and the setup process was more straightforward than I expected. The build quality feels solid, and the app control makes scheduling watering much more convenient. Everything has been running smoothly with no connection issues so far. Overall, a very practical and user-friendly system for smart irrigation.

    So convenient to use! Love the smart app functio
    I originally had the sprinkler controller installed by the builder when the house was built, but honestly it was very complicated and not very user-friendly for non-professionals like me. Every time I needed to adjust something, I usually had to call my gardener for help. A few years ago, my gardener recommended switching to a Rain Bird controller, which was much easier to use, but it still wasn’t really “smart.” Recently I found this Soildrops controller and decided to give it a try. I really like that it has its own app, so I can remotely control and monitor the system directly from my phone.
