Finally found my Split AC leak!!
I want to say that this thing is worth its weight in gold. Ive been chasing a small refrigerant leak in my split ac system and have spent hundreds of dollars in freon to replace the leak. I tried everything under the sun to find it, leak detector, UV reactant, soapy water and even had a tech take a look. He just wanted to replace the whole line set for 3k. No thank you. With this little handy dandy device I found it in literally 90 seconds. It was rubbing on a sheet metal piece in the wall that had created a microscopic hole that allowed freon to leak slowly. Simply recovered the freon, lopped off a 3 inch chunk and soldered in a hardened piece and all is good to go.

This thing is simply awesome like I described above. I spent countless hours trying to find this hidden leak and with this I found it in 90 seconds. Seriously 90 seconds. Its wild how well it worked and even the worlds smallest leak.
Surprisingly Functional Gas Detector for the Price
Picked this up and honestly it’s more capable than I expected. It’s easy to use right out of the box, and the rigid gooseneck probe feels solid and holds its shape well when positioning it around fittings and tight spaces.
It has multiple detection modes, a built-in UV and white LED light (which actually helps when working in darker areas), and it auto-calibrates on startup with the option for manual calibration if needed. The USB rechargeable battery is a big plus—no dealing with disposable batteries—and it comes with a carrying case which makes storage and transport easy.
In use, it feels responsive and practical for checking around gas lines, appliances, and confined areas. For a budget-friendly tool, the feature set is genuinely impressive.
Overall, a surprisingly functional and well-equipped gas detector for the price, especially with the rechargeable design and included accessories.

Or, very happy with this Freon detector. It found the leak that I was looking for very quickly and very accurately. Takes a little while to learn it, but definitely happy with the price point and the recharge ability via USB-C is fantastic. Long-term longevity will remain to be seen, but for the price, you can’t beat it!

Sin dal primo utilizzo mi ha colpito la sua ergonomia e praticit, il display in verde ben visibile anche in ambienti poco illuminati, e la sonda flessibile da circa 35 cm arriva facilmente nei punti difficili.
Le caratteristiche principali lo rendono uno strumento professionale: rileva tutti i gas alogenati comuni con una sensibilit massima che permette di individuare anche le perdite pi piccole. LO RECOMENDARA?
Mi respuesta es S, ahora menciono los pro que he podido encontrar en este producto y son estos:
1. Deteccin multigs de amplio espectro y no importa si trabajas con sistemas antiguos (CFCs) o con las nuevas normativas ecolgicas (HFOs). Este equipo detecta ms de cien tipos de refrigerantes, lo que te evita tener que comprar varios detectores diferentes para distintos coches o mquinas.
2. Sistema de concentracin en tiempo real y es que a diferencia de los detectores que solo “pitan”, el HLD01 te da una escala numrica (0 a >85 ppm). Esto es vital para saber si ests ante una microporosidad o una fuga masiva, permitindote priorizar las reparaciones de forma lgica.
3. Iluminacin dual (Blanca + Violeta) siendo un detalle brillante. La luz blanca ilumina el motor o la unidad interior, mientras que la luz violeta ayuda a resaltar el contraste del gas o posibles trazadores, eliminando los puntos ciegos en rincones oscuros de la carrocera o el falso techo.
4. Carga por USB-C y gran autonoma asi que por fin un detector que abandona las pilas alcalinas tradicionales. Puedes cargarlo con el mismo cable del mvil, en el coche o con un power bank, asegurando que nunca te quedars “tirado” en mitad de una guardia.
5. Manguera flexible de 16 pulgadas donde su cuello de cisne es lo suficientemente largo y rgido para llegar a evaporadores escondidos tras el salpicadero o tuberas traseras sin tener que desmontar medio vehculo.
LE VEO ALGO NEGATIVO?
Aunque tiene ventajas evidentes tengo que mencionar algunas cosillas que si he visto y no me han gustado mucho:
1. Sensibilidad a contaminantes y como todos los sensores de alta precisin, puede dar falsas alarmas si hay vapores de limpieza, gasolina o aceites fuertes en el ambiente. Por suerte, incluye el botn de puesta a cero, que debes usar con frecuencia para recalibrar el aire base del taller.
2. Tiempo de precalentamiento al encenderlo, y bueno, el sensor necesita unos segundos para estabilizarse trmicamente antes de ser fiable. No es un dispositivo de “encendido y lectura instantnea”, requiere esa pequea pausa profesional para garantizar la precisin.
MI CONCLUSIN:
Resumindolo todo, este detector de gas es una inversin en eficiencia y diagnstico certero. Ahorra tiempo buscando fugas “a ciegas” y ofrece una imagen de profesionalidad ante el cliente gracias a su pantalla de concentracin. Destaca por su versatilidad con gases modernos y su cmodo sistema de carga USB-C, siendo la opcin ideal para electricistas y frigoristas que buscan un equipo robusto y fiable para el da a da.

VERY good quality detector for those of us to prefer to fix it ourselves
To be honest I wasn’t even looking for a detector, but this one was offered and it looked much better than the one I had. The one I had is a simple little beeping detector with the flex head on the end, and it worked OK. Not great, but OK. There was no calibration or any real indication, other than the beeping, that you were getting any nearer to a leak. So honestly sometimes you just were left wondering if it was working at all. On the other hand this detector is light years better. First, it goes through a calibration when you turn it on; for a couple minutes it detects and then finds a baseline. Also, it has a gauge on the screen to help you see what’s happening, which is much more informative than the beeps. Third, and this might be the greatest part, there are two integrated lights in the head. One white and one purple (to detect UV dye). I don’t know about you, but I am the guy to can’t remember where I set things down. So keeping track of a detector AND a UV flashlight was an issue for me. But the cherry on top is that it’s rechargeable too. As I only need one of these every year or so, invariably the 9v battery is dead when I need the old detector. And who keeps 9v batteries around? I would highly recommend this if you ever need to find a leak.

These can be true life savers when you’re banging your head against a wall looking for a leak. Freon and other halogen gasses don’t have a color and don’t really have any smell, so this steps in as your eyes and nose and “sniffs out leaks for you. I’ve done my fair share of leak detection on hvac and refrigeration systems, and these detectors make life sooooo much easier. This one feels pretty sturdy, heats up quickly, is rechargeable and comes with a case. It also has a light and a uv light for when you’re detecting with a dye.
It’s constructed of a sold ABS style plastic that feels like it will take some hits and keep on going, that’s something important in a work tool. The buttons feel solid, and the detector goose neck is easy to flex, but holds its shape for those hard to reach corners.
No Assembly required, just take it out of the case charge it up, and turn it on, you’re ready to go.
Setup is super simple. There’s a high sensitivity and low sensitivity, depending on how far away from the leak you are.
It functions well, the high and low modes are Useful, so you can adjust based on your range to the leak. It heats up quickly and also charges quickly. The screen is easily to read and well backlit.
I’ll be using this for HVAC leaks in my house and car, also for any Refridgeration leaks I might encounter. I help at church, so sometimes I’m helping with an emergency leak.
Overall nice product with nice features. Also has a nice hard case, with is a great bonus.

Mi aire acondicionado no enfriaba como deba y antes de llamar al tcnico quise investigar por mi cuenta. Pas el detector por todas las conexiones y tuberas y a la primera pasada, el LED se ilumin y detect una prdida de gas en un punto concreto. Cuando lleg el tcnico, confirm exactamente la misma fuga y en el mismo lugar que haba localizado yo con este detector. Una recarga de gas y el ajuste correspondiente bastaron para dejarlo funcionando perfectamente. Este aparato me ahorr tiempo, dudas y posiblemente una factura innecesaria.
El HLD01 est diseado especficamente para detectar fugas de gases halgenos utilizados en sistemas de refrigeracin y aire acondicionado, tanto domstico como de automocin. Es compatible con ms de cien tipos de refrigerantes, incluyendo los ms comunes como R22, R134a, R404a y R1234yf, cubriendo prcticamente cualquier equipo que puedas encontrar en casa, taller o instalacin industrial.
El sistema de triple alarma es muy claro e intuitivo: alarma acstica, alarma visual y pantalla con nivel de concentracin en tiempo real. Los rangos estn bien definidos: de 0 a 16 ppm todo est bien, de 16 a 85 ppm hay que estar alerta, y por encima de 85 ppm la alarma de advertencia se activa claramente. No hay lugar a confusiones.
Incluye doble iluminacin LED: luz blanca para iluminar la zona de inspeccin y luz violeta auxiliar para mejorar el contraste visual al rastrear el gas, muy til en zonas oscuras como el interior de unidades exteriores, bajos de vehculos o cmaras frigorficas. La manguera flexible de 40 cm. permite acceder sin dificultad a tuberas estrechas o de difcil acceso.
La autocalibracin es un punto muy prctico: si el entorno cambia bruscamente y provoca una falsa alarma, basta con pulsar el botn de cero para recalibrarlo al instante. Tambin permite cambiar entre modo automtico y manual segn las condiciones del entorno. El apagado automtico tras 10 minutos sin uso y la carga por USB-C compatible con power banks lo hacen muy cmodo para llevar y usar en cualquier sitio.
Para los ms tcnicos:
* Gases halgenos en refrigeracin: los refrigerantes modernos pertenecen a las familias de los CFCs (clorofluorocarburos), HCFCs (hidroclorofluorocarburos), HFCs (hidrofluorocarburos) y HFOs (hidrofluoroolefinas). El HLD01 es compatible con los cuatro grupos, lo que lo hace vlido tanto para equipos antiguos con R22 como para los sistemas ms modernos con R1234yf.
* Deteccin electroqumica de halgenos: el sensor reacciona a la presencia de tomos de cloro, flor o bromo en el aire, generando una seal proporcional a la concentracin detectada, medida en ppm (partes por milln).
* R1234yf: refrigerante de nueva generacin con muy bajo potencial de calentamiento global (GWP=4), obligatorio en vehculos fabricados desde 2017 en Europa. Su deteccin requiere sensores especficos que no todos los detectores de gama bsica incluyen.
* Luz violeta auxiliar: en combinacin con tintes fluorescentes aadidos al circuito de refrigerante (prctica habitual en talleres), la luz UV permite visualizar directamente el punto de fuga como una mancha fluorescente, complementando la deteccin electrnica.
* Calibracin manual: especialmente recomendable en entornos con presencia residual de gases halgenos (talleres, cmaras frigorficas) donde la calibracin automtica podra establecer una lnea base incorrecta.
Mi valoracin: Un detector que ha demostrado su vala en la prctica real: localiz una fuga de gas en mi aire acondicionado con la misma precisin que el tcnico profesional. Fcil de usar, bien construido, con alarmas claras y compatible con prcticamente cualquier refrigerante del mercado. Tenerlo en casa es una inversin inteligente que puede evitar diagnsticos errneos y facturas innecesarias. Muy recomendable para cualquier persona que quiera mantener sus equipos de climatizacin bajo control

Depuis que j’ai reu le dtecteur de fuites de rfrigrant HLD01, ma manire de travailler sur les systmes de climatisation et de rfrigration a compltement chang. Avant, localiser une fuite tait un vrai casse-tte, entre les interventions longues et les dpenses en ateliers. Avec cet outil, il me suffit de brancher la sonde flexible, et en quelques secondes, la diode chauffe commence ragir ds qu’elle capte une trace de gaz. Je me souviens de ma premire utilisation : je suivais le conduit derrire un climatiseur encastr, et l’alarme sonore progressive s’est intensifie exactement au niveau d’une petite fuite que je n’aurais jamais vue l’il nu.
Le mode sensible m’a permis de dtecter les plus fines traces de R134a, tandis que le mode normal m’a aid confirmer l’endroit prcis pour intervenir. La sonde flexible atteint tous les recoins, des vannes aux serpentins, sans que je doive tout dmonter. L’cran LCD est clair mme dans les zones sombres, et la batterie rechargeable tient facilement plusieurs heures. J’apprcie aussi la robustesse du botier et le clip ceinture, qui me laisse les mains libres pour manipuler les conduites et les raccords.
Pour moi, cet outil n’est pas seulement pratique, il m’a fait gagner un temps fou et vite des dpenses inutiles en rparation. Im Rahmen des Vine-Programms teste ich sehr gerne Produkte, die fr mich und meine Frau von Interesse sind. Leider mssen die erforderlichen Rezensionen zeitnah abgegeben werden, sodass ein umfassender Langzeittest nicht immer mglich ist. Daher mchte ich in dieser Rezension hauptschlich die Grnde beschreiben, warum ich mich fr das Halogen-Gaslecksuchgert HLD01 entschieden habe.
Bei meinem letzten Fahrzeug war die Klimaanlage defekt. Die Werkstatt bot einen Austausch des Kondensators fr fast 1.500 Euro an, da dieser angeblich undicht sei. Mit Hilfe meines Schwagers, der ebenfalls Klimatechniker ist, stellte sich heraus, dass lediglich eine Schraubverbindung das Leck verursachte und der Kondensator vllig in Ordnung war. Khlmittel auffllen ist unkompliziert, die Lecksuche jedoch anspruchsvoll.
Seit zwei Jahren habe ich nun dasselbe Problem bei meinem neuen Auto — die Klimaanlage khlt nicht, weil Khlmittel entwichen ist. Die zwei Sensormodi (hoch/niedrig) ermglichen eine flexible Anpassung an unterschiedliche Leckgren und Umgebungsbedingungen.
Die integrierte LED-Hilfsleuchte und die weie Arbeitsleuchte sind praktisch fr dunkle Arbeitsbereiche. Auch die automatische Kalibrierung und USB-C-Ladung sind sehr durchdacht — das Gert ist sofort einsatzbereit, kompakt und robust genug fr den mobilen Einsatz.
Bei der Nutzung ist zu beachten, dass es sich um ein Przisionsinstrument handelt: Fr erste Tests sollte man sich ausreichend Zeit nehmen und in sicherer Umgebung arbeiten. Bei Unsicherheiten oder greren Lecks, die sich nicht sicher lokalisieren lassen, ist ein Fachmann hinzuzuziehen. Fr ambitionierte Heimwerker bietet das Gert aber eine sehr gute Mglichkeit, das Leck selbst zu finden, bevor unntig hohe Werkstattkosten entstehen.
Kurz- bis mittelfristig ermglicht das HLD01 eine gezielte und schnelle Ortung, langfristig kann es helfen, die Effizienz der Klimaanlage zu erhalten und unntigen Kltemittelverlust zu vermeiden.
Der Preis von 75,99 Euro ist fr ein professionelles, vielseitiges Halogen-Lecksuchgert gerechtfertigt, vor allem, wenn man die Kosten fr Werkstattbesuche bercksichtigt.
Alles in allem ein sehr gut durchdachtes, zuverlssiges und przises Werkzeug — ich kann es jedem empfehlen, der selbst Klimalecks lokalisieren mchte oder Wert auf eine kostengnstige Wartung legt.
Mein ganz persnliches Fazit
Das HLD01 Halogen-Gaslecksuchgert bietet Heimwerkern und Profis gleichermaen die Mglichkeit, Lecks zuverlssig und schnell zu erkennen. Kompakt, robust, przise und einfach zu bedienen — ein ntzliches Werkzeug, das mir in meiner aktuellen Situation sehr hilft.
