A Watchful Eye for the Patio: The Night Transformation is the Best Pa
Living in the Pacific Northwest, I’m constantly keeping one eye on the temperature and the other on the humidity levels. I picked up this 18-inch outdoor clock to add some functionality to my outdoor space, but I ended up being more impressed by its “personality” than its specs.
The coolest feature isn’t even mentioned in the manual: the owl’s eyes. During the day, the owl looks like it’s peacefully sleeping. But as soon as the sun goes down and the LED backlight kicks in, the illumination changes the perspective so the eyes look wide awake and watchful. It’s a clever design touch that makes the clock feel like a piece of art rather than just a utility tool.
The built-in hygrometer and thermometer are must-haves for my area. It’s nice to have a quick visual on the moisture levels before I decide to leave the patio cushions out.
It uses a dual battery system (1 AA for the time and 4 D batteries for the light). I really appreciate that the light has a 5-hour auto-shutoff timer. It gives me plenty of light for an evening outside without draining the batteries all night long.
Things to Consider:
Make sure you have those 4 D batteries on hand, as they aren’t included. Also, keep in mind that while it’s waterproof, the back is where the sensors live, so I’d recommend mounting it somewhere with at least a little bit of overhead protection to keep the dials accurate.
Final Thoughts:
If you want something that starts a conversation and actually helps you track the weather, this is a good choice. That nighttime owl glow is worth the price of admission alone.

I recently ordered this 18-inch outdoor waterproof clock for my back patio. It arrived well-packaged without any issue.
The pros
This is a really cool day-to-night outdoor clock. It has a “glowing” capability as the day moves into nighttime making the clock face visible in the dark and easy to read. The large clock face with bold Roman numerals allows time to be seen from a distance during daytime as well. The clock is waterproof, UV resistant and built for outdoor use making it a nice decorative addition to your back porch or garden. I really appreciate that this clock not only tells time, but also the shows temperature and humidity levels. (So far it seems to give accurate readings.)
The cons
While the clock itself is fairly lightweight, once you add 4-D batteries (for the back light) and an AA battery for the clock) it becomes pretty heavy causing the need for a heavy load-bearing nail to keep the clock secure once hung. The outer “stone” covering is made of plastic and feels kind of cheap (but from afar it looks nice). The seller advertises that it is “silent” with “no ticking” sounds but mine ticks like a normal clock. It just doesn’t have a visible second hand. I also wasn’t expecting the need for 4-D batteries. It would be appreciated if something like this came with the ability to plug into an outdoor outlet for power.
Overall, this is a cool addition to our back porch and I would highly recommend it.

This is a very cool clock! It made for Outdoors and is 18″ in diameter, large enough to see from a distance. It also has backlighting that is photosensitive so that in the dark the pattern in the background lights up. It also has a thermometer and hygrometer. It uses 4 D cell batteries for the backlighting and one AA cell battery for the clock. I have attached pictures of it in the daylight and the dark, it has two brightness settings for the backlighan you can turn it off as well. I really like that it has a thermometer and that is is water resistant for outdoor use so i can ust on my covered patio.The clock face is large enough to see from a distance and with the pack lighting that turns on when the sun goes down I can still see the time in the dark. The housing is plastic but is heavy duty and the batteries for the lights and clock have covers to keep them protected from weather. I am very happy with the quality and function of this clock.

I picked up this 18″ outdoor clock for our patio and overall I’d say it’s a solid option with a few things to be aware of.
First off, the size is great. It’s large enough to actually read from across the yard, and the faux slate look blends in really nicely with outdoor decor instead of looking cheap or plastic. It definitely gives more of a “decor piece” vibe than just a basic clock.
The built-in thermometer and hygrometer are a nice bonus. They seem reasonably accurate for general use (I wouldn’t rely on them for anything super precise, but for everyday outdoor conditions they’re totally fine). It’s convenient having everything in one place.
I also really like that it’s completely silent — no ticking at all — which is perfect for relaxing outside.
The night light feature is a cool idea, but just know it’s more subtle than bright. It’s helpful for visibility at night, but it’s not going to fully light up like a backlit clock.
A couple downsides:
It does feel a bit lighter than expected for the size, and since it’s battery operated, you’ll want to keep an eye on battery life if you’re using the light feature regularly. Also, availability seems hit or miss, which is a little frustrating.
Overall, it’s a good-looking, functional outdoor clock that adds a nice touch to a patio or garden. Not perfect, but definitely worth it if you want something decorative that also gets the job done.
