A Watchful Eye for the Patio: The Night Transformation is the Best Pa
Living in the Pacific Northwest, I’m constantly keeping one eye on the temperature and the other on the humidity levels. I picked up this 18-inch outdoor clock to add some functionality to my outdoor space, but I ended up being more impressed by its “personality” than its specs.
The coolest feature isn’t even mentioned in the manual: the owl’s eyes. During the day, the owl looks like it’s peacefully sleeping. But as soon as the sun goes down and the LED backlight kicks in, the illumination changes the perspective so the eyes look wide awake and watchful. It’s a clever design touch that makes the clock feel like a piece of art rather than just a utility tool.
The built-in hygrometer and thermometer are must-haves for my area. It’s nice to have a quick visual on the moisture levels before I decide to leave the patio cushions out.
It uses a dual battery system (1 AA for the time and 4 D batteries for the light). I really appreciate that the light has a 5-hour auto-shutoff timer. It gives me plenty of light for an evening outside without draining the batteries all night long.
Things to Consider:
Make sure you have those 4 D batteries on hand, as they aren’t included. Also, keep in mind that while it’s waterproof, the back is where the sensors live, so I’d recommend mounting it somewhere with at least a little bit of overhead protection to keep the dials accurate.
Final Thoughts:
If you want something that starts a conversation and actually helps you track the weather, this is a good choice. That nighttime owl glow is worth the price of admission alone.

I recently ordered this 18-inch outdoor waterproof clock for my back patio. It arrived well-packaged without any issue.
The pros
This is a really cool day-to-night outdoor clock. It has a “glowing” capability as the day moves into nighttime making the clock face visible in the dark and easy to read. The large clock face with bold Roman numerals allows time to be seen from a distance during daytime as well. The clock is waterproof, UV resistant and built for outdoor use making it a nice decorative addition to your back porch or garden. I really appreciate that this clock not only tells time, but also the shows temperature and humidity levels. (So far it seems to give accurate readings.)
The cons
While the clock itself is fairly lightweight, once you add 4-D batteries (for the back light) and an AA battery for the clock) it becomes pretty heavy causing the need for a heavy load-bearing nail to keep the clock secure once hung. The outer “stone” covering is made of plastic and feels kind of cheap (but from afar it looks nice). The seller advertises that it is “silent” with “no ticking” sounds but mine ticks like a normal clock. It just doesn’t have a visible second hand. I also wasn’t expecting the need for 4-D batteries. It would be appreciated if something like this came with the ability to plug into an outdoor outlet for power.
Overall, this is a cool addition to our back porch and I would highly recommend it.

This is a very cool clock! It made for Outdoors and is 18″ in diameter, large enough to see from a distance. It also has backlighting that is photosensitive so that in the dark the pattern in the background lights up. It also has a thermometer and hygrometer. It uses 4 D cell batteries for the backlighting and one AA cell battery for the clock. I have attached pictures of it in the daylight and the dark, it has two brightness settings for the backlighan you can turn it off as well. I really like that it has a thermometer and that is is water resistant for outdoor use so i can ust on my covered patio.The clock face is large enough to see from a distance and with the pack lighting that turns on when the sun goes down I can still see the time in the dark. The housing is plastic but is heavy duty and the batteries for the lights and clock have covers to keep them protected from weather. I am very happy with the quality and function of this clock.

I picked up this 18″ outdoor clock for our patio and overall I’d say it’s a solid option with a few things to be aware of.
First off, the size is great. It’s large enough to actually read from across the yard, and the faux slate look blends in really nicely with outdoor decor instead of looking cheap or plastic. It definitely gives more of a “decor piece” vibe than just a basic clock.
The built-in thermometer and hygrometer are a nice bonus. They seem reasonably accurate for general use (I wouldn’t rely on them for anything super precise, but for everyday outdoor conditions they’re totally fine). It’s convenient having everything in one place.
I also really like that it’s completely silent — no ticking at all — which is perfect for relaxing outside.
The night light feature is a cool idea, but just know it’s more subtle than bright. It’s helpful for visibility at night, but it’s not going to fully light up like a backlit clock.
A couple downsides:
It does feel a bit lighter than expected for the size, and since it’s battery operated, you’ll want to keep an eye on battery life if you’re using the light feature regularly. Also, availability seems hit or miss, which is a little frustrating.
Overall, it’s a good-looking, functional outdoor clock that adds a nice touch to a patio or garden. Not perfect, but definitely worth it if you want something decorative that also gets the job done.

Illumination Feature Highlights This Attractive Outdoor Clock

Another reviewer mentioned that this BBALOVEDRE offering is lightweight enough for easy hanging and I certainly agree with the easy hanging part of that. The molded plastic hanging slot on the back of the clock is well designed and very effective. Hanging it in place is about as easy as you might wish. I find it almost hangs itself, to be completely honest. Very satisfying and effective. But although it is easy to hang, I would personally say that this clock has a very decent weight to it and certainly gives off an aura of a quality build.
One of the features that I’m pretty sure you notice is the LARGE and easily used control knobs on the back of the unit. These adjust the clock time, and set the baseline for both the temperture and humidity levels. I mention these here because they are very easy to operate mostly because they are designed to be large and simple to use. Like the hanging feature, the design simply works in a very convenient fashion.
On the slightly negative side of things is the ‘D’ size battery requirement for the illumination feature. As a previous reviewer referenced, ‘D’ sized batteries are not a very common requirement, and considering the likely cost of an ongoing supply if you use the illumination feature, rechareables are something you might want to consider. BUT, the night-time illumination is one of the best features here, and the aesthetic effects are very attractive. The results are very similar to the effects illustrated in the product photos, although the exact appearance will depend greatly on how much light pollution exists in the area it is located. The two light levels available make it possible to easily achieve the results you prefer in varying conditions.
I have found that the temperature and humidity indicators are essentially mostly accurate and reflective of weather conditions as indicated by various weather reporting services. Certainly accurate enough for this application.
The bottom line for here is that this BBALOVEDRE offering is a very attractive outdoor clock, that although not inexpensive, provides accurate information, is attractive as a decor feature, and offers an especially beautiful display at night thanks to the illuminated face.
Pricing seems competitive ($132.99 as of May 25/26) but not especially outstanding.
Large and illuminated
This is a very good quality outdoor clock/thermometer. First, this is very large – 18 inches diameter, which is great for outdoors so you can see it from a distance. Second, it’s illuminated at dusk for 5 hrs, and then shuts off until it resets in the daytime. There are two settings for the brightness – I’ll probably use the dimmer setting since I think it will be enough. I’m not sure how long the illumination will last with four D batteries – if it starts eating batteries I’ll just turn it off or take them out. I’ve had other products like this, but they don’t protect the clock mechanism like this one does – there’s a screw on cover on the back to ensure the clock and battery are protected. Overall, this is a solid product for outdoor use, but it’s pretty pricey, so you have to consider the price compared to other products like this.
Beautiful and easy to read
Overall, I love this clock. But I had to knock it down to only 4 stars simply because it uses frickin D batteries to power the LED lighting. Its 2026. I havent used D batteries for anything except an air mattress pump in nearly 30 years.
Moving past my butthurt over the D batteries, its a really nice clock. The outer housing is a durable plastic, thats been well moulded and finished so it doesnt have that cheap plastic look to it.
The face of the clock (with the image of the owl) is gorgeous. Like, almost too nice for an outdoor clock kind of gorgeous. It reminds me of my beloved aunt’s treasured Grandfather clock, and thats a pretty darn impressive comparison if I’m being honest.
In the back, youll find a square cover in the center that pops off to reveal the battery compartment and the adjustment wheel for the clock movement.
Below and to the left and right, you’ll find larger, round caps that unscrew to reveal the D battery compartments. Each compartment has nice seals, and will surely keep water out of all of the inner workings of the clock.
Youll also find that the clock face is also really well sealed. While I wouldnt recommend installing it at the bottom of a pool, I am confident that itll hold up to rain without an issue.
The LED lighting (and the auto feature!) is really fabulous. It makes it so easy to see the time when I’m having a late night soak in the hot tub. Its bright enough to read, but casts just a soft glow so its not visually distracting either.
End of the day- its a REALLY aesthetically beautiful clock. Functionality is great- other than those dang D batteries. Switching to a built in, rechargeable battery would likely be a better move.
