    Decent boost charge controller for 24V - 72V batteries.
    So far this seems like a decent boost solar charge controller. The case is metal, which should hold up better than the plastic ones, and better dissipate heat. The unit is fairly compact. The controls and screen are decent. It seems to be working well so far, though I don’t have the tools setup to fully monitor it to test efficiency. One end has common panel connectors pre-installed, while the other has a lever style wire connector. The only issue I noticed so far is that there are some nicks on the wire sheathing. The do not go that deep, but it is still a bit concerning to see. Overall this seems like a decent choice if you need to boost up 12V panels to work with systems of 24V – 72V.

    I don't see any big efficiency penalty like I thought I would. I'm quite happy with it.
    Just what I was looking for to solve my mini camper battery upgrade problem. I upgraded my battery setup to a higher voltage than my solar panel installation can supply. This boost controller allows me to continue using my lower-voltage solar panel with my new higher-voltage battery. Allowing for the conversion difference, it seems to be working pretty well. I don’t see any big efficiency penalty like I thought I would. I’m quite happy with it.

    Works well for certain situations.
    These are really simple to use if you know anything about solar.

    This is especially good for charging your golf carts.

    Most golf carts have 48v batteries so if you want to use your solar, you probably need this.

    A smaller panel will only give you 20v so you need higher voltage to charge your battery.

    This little nifty device solves your problem.

    What I do is use a lighter flexible panel and glue it to the top of the golf cart.

    Use this to slow charge the battery. Not a bad way to top off your golf cart batteries.

    Works well with my 24V LiFePO4 battery with 12V solar panel. Backlit LCD screen.
    I needed a solar charge controller that can charge my 24V LiFePO4 battery from a 12V solar panel. Most MPPT charge controllers are unable to charge a higher voltage battery from a solar panel that has a lower voltage. You’ll need a step-up or boost MPPT solar charge controller like this. This Callsun Boost MPPT Solar Charge Controller is replacing a similar boost MPPT solar charge controller from another brand. This worst better and easier to set up.

    Installing it was pretty easy since it came with MP4 connectors on the solar input side and level nut connectors on the battery side. Makes connection very quick and simple. I connected the battery first. However, the LCD screen didn’t come on until I connected the solar panel. Just like my other Boost MPPT charge controller. Maybe it’s to preserve battery?

    I had to change the setting to the correct battery type. Setting it up for my correct battery type is fairly easy. Just press the setup button. Then select the battery type with the battery type button. Then cycle through the number of cells in series using the series button. That’s it. It supports GEL, Li-ion, and LiFePO4 battery types. Supports a large range of voltages: 24V/36V/48V/60V/72V. Although for Li-ion, the lowest cell series is 7S. I have a 24V Li-ion battery that is 6S, but it is not common.

    The LCD screen is easy to read. It is also backlit, so you can see it at night. The LCD screen seems to be on as long as there is solar input. The backlight comes on when you press a button and goes off after a few seconds to conserve energy. At $50, I think it’s a good value for a Boost MPPT solar charge controller that supports a variety of voltages.

    The solar charge regulator came in quickly and with no issues. The 15A 500W Boost MPPT Solar Charge Controller is a step-up voltage regulator for 24V/36V/48V/60V/72V lead-acid, LiFePO4 and lithium batteries. The leads from the batteries go to the quick connect on the regulator, then the other side gets connected to solar panels. This is an easy concept and easy to use. The regulator is accurate and extends battery life. The Callsun seems to be a good value for the money compared to others that I have used. This is ideal to use with golf carts, eBikes, and solar systems. I am happy with the regulator and would use again.

    Works well for mybattery backups
    I got this to charge emergency battery backups. The boost function is nice because my panels are lower voltage than my battery bank, so it steps up the voltage appropriately. I’m using it with a 48V LiFePO4 setup and it seems to charge efficiently when the sun is out. The display is basic but gives you the info you need – voltage, charging current, that sort of thing. It wasn’t too hard to figure out the settings once I read through the manual.

    The instructions could be clearer. There are a lot of battery type options and if you aren’t careful you could definitely set something wrong. Just take your time with the initial setup. The unit itself feels solid enough – not super heavy duty but adequate for what it is. I mounted it in a spot that stays fairly dry, so I can’t speak to how waterproof the connections are long term.

    Overall it’s a good value for stepping up voltage to higher battery banks. Just make sure you actually need the boost function for your specific setup before buying.
