Armored and Ready
This garden hose certainly walks the walk.
It comes protected in a cardboard box, wrapped in plastic inside. When the plastic is removed, the hose and two small baggies with some plumbing PTFE tape and three extra gaskets are presented.
The ends of the hose are very well built and have cleanly cut threads with no burrs, dents, or dings. The hose comes with a gasket pre-installed. Behind the brass ends are plastic strain relief grips. These grips can twist off, at least on the female end (I wasn’t able to twist the grip of the male end off with reasonable force). The knurling on the female end is gentle but offers sufficient grip for tightening.
The hose is armored with a helical band of metal, yet remains very flexible. It is similar to a shower extension hose. Given that it is metal, I expect it to hold up pretty well to frequent use. The interior of the hose is some form of impermeable flexible membrane, though I can’t directly see what it is made of. The listing indicates possibly latex. Due to it being so flexible, it also allows the hose to expand slightly when in use. If both ends are pulled, the hose extends in length. When released, it contracts back to its resting state.
The hose holds water well against typical pressure and I have not seen any leaks. The hose is plenty durable for my needs and as such I am rating five stars.
10 foot isn't long but good to give pets wate
This 10 foot garden metal water hose is very well made of quality materials. The metal has a ridge type look and feel that expands and flexes slightly to allow you to move it freely and get good water flow. The ends attach to the water faucet and other hoses with ease, a rubber gasket in included in one side. A small roll of plumber’s tape is also included. There is a rubber gripper like area at each end that is nice to hold onto. This water hose is easy to roll up. Not quite as much water comes out of it as a traditional water hose, however the water output is still good. 10 foot isn’t very long but it’s long enough to fill a close by dog water or water nearby flower bed. I got this hose because my dog chews traditional type hoses and I’ve gone through numerous ones. When I found this one I had hoped he wouldn’t try to chew it since it’s metal and he hasn’t. It’s been so wonderful to finally find a hose that my dog won’t chew! Overall I’m really happy with this hose and feel it’s a wonderful value that will hold up for a long time to come.
Short metal hose that’s handy for specific jobs
This 10-foot hose fills the same kind of role as other short utility hoses I’ve used: it’s not something I’d buy as my main garden hose, but it’s very useful for those smaller, targeted tasks where a full-length hose is just overkill.
In my case, I’ve been doing a lot of landscaping and working on fresh grass seed this spring, so I’ve had sprinklers set up in different places around the yard. A short hose like this works really well as an interconnect between sprinklers or for other close-range watering jobs. That’s where something like this makes the most sense. You get the reach you need without dragging a long heavy hose all over the place.
The biggest positive for me is flexibility. Even with the metal exterior, it’s still easy to maneuver and doesn’t feel stiff or awkward. That makes setup, moving things around, and storage much easier. It also feels nicely made overall. The brass fittings are a nice touch, and the hose gives a better first impression than I expected from a short specialty hose.
That said, this really does seem very similar in function to the other short hose styles I’ve tried, just with a different outer construction. The main difference here is the metal exterior versus a fabric-wrapped design. In actual use, though, the overall purpose feels about the same: lightweight, flexible, easy to handle, and best suited for smaller jobs rather than replacing a standard full-size garden hose.
One thing I did notice is that the inside diameter appears smaller than a traditional garden hose. Because of that, I do think water flow is probably somewhat restricted compared to a standard hose. For my own use, that has not been a major problem since I’m mainly using short runs for sprinkler connections and light watering. But if someone is expecting maximum flow, that is worth keeping in mind.
Overall, I think this is a solid little hose for the right application. It feels well built, it’s flexible, and it’s easy to work with. As long as you understand that the shorter length and smaller inside diameter make it more of a specialty hose than an all-purpose one, it does its job well.
Great for a short, lightweight hose. Good leader. Not sure about longevity yet.
As a typical garden hose, the length just isn’t there and the price is not what I would consider to be on point for this length. I can imagine this being used as an extension or for a regular, simple, singular task near a hose bib.
If 10 ft is all you need and you need something that weighs practically nothing or is extremely maneuverable, then maybe this is an okay deal, but I would definitely be comparing prices.
It doesn’t kink, doesn’t get tangled up in itself, it’s easy to use, very light weight and portable.
I have found that this hose has a great place in the garden. I’m using it as a leader hose for our drip system. 10ft is just perfect for that job. I’m hoping that these last. We’ve been using metal hoses for years and have to replace them at the beginning of every growing season.
Overall, if you need a 10ft hose for whatever specific purpose or a leader for your garden beds, I think this metal hose is a good way to go. I always recommend metal hoses for their maneuverability, function and weight. They are 100% worth it. However, they don’t tend to last and though I’m hoping this one proves me wrong, it’s something to keep in mind, especially if you have hard water.
