Tossed This in My Travel Bag and Have Not Taken It Out Since
I picked this up before a stretch of back-to-back work trips where I was bouncing between hotels and short-term rentals, and having something compact enough to not add bulk to my carry-on was the first thing that won me over. The device itself is slim, about the size of a thick pen, and fits in a jacket pocket without any awkward bulging. It runs two detection modes, RF signal scanning and magnetic field detection, and switching between them is straightforward once you spend a couple minutes with it, no manual diving required after the first use. I tested it around the house on known wireless devices and it picked them up consistently, with the sensitivity adjustment giving you control over how broad or narrow the sweep is depending on the environment. The alert feedback is a mix of audio and vibration which I appreciated in situations where I didn’t want to be obvious about scanning a room. Charging via USB is convenient and the battery lasts long enough for a full hotel room sweep without needing a top-off mid-scan. On the downside, at higher sensitivity settings it does flag things like routers and standard electronics which means you’re doing a bit of process-of-elimination work to sort signal noise from anything genuinely unexpected, and there’s a small learning curve in reading what the device is actually telling you. The build feels solid for the size, nothing rattles or feels flimsy in hand. The 5-year warranty from the manufacturer is a nice backstop for something you’re relying on regularly. For a portable dual-mode RF detector that travels well and does what it claims, this one has earned a permanent spot in my bag.

Where I work at, there are several gender neutral bathrooms. While we do have ones specifically for women and men, the employees are gender neutral. We started seeing a red hue when the lights were out and purchased this. So glad that we did because we found 4 cameras in 3 separate bathrooms. We were then able to find the main hub of these cameras to someone’s office, all thanks to this detector. This thing was so easy to use and as soon as it thought something was there, all lights were going off. We tested this on walls that we knew nothing was there, and no detection of anything. However, the moment this went over any of the cameras we found, instantly lit up. This thing was not only impressive but we honestly didn’t think it was going to work. We were all wrong.
