Bigger would not have been better!
I was worried when I bought the smaller model that it would be too small and too light. This was not the case as the 36″ was more than enough and I really think that any larger would be too heavy to move easily across the lawn. I had two larger areas to reseed that my dog tore up while trying to cool off on the cold dirt.Filling in most of the deep holes with top soil and then grading the areas off to prepare the ground for seed was made easy by using this lawn leveling rake. The surface was even across the expanse and ready for seed. Once the seed was spread, I used a hula hoe to mix it in and then ran the leveling rake over pace again. Just waiting for the sun and soil to do it’s magic!
Interesting Rake That Works
This is an interesting rake. It’s a double duty tool where the flat side is designed for leveling and the tined side is designed to break up clods of dirt or to lightly rake the area. We are using it as we replant our sand filter area and bring in new top soil that must be leveled. It would be great for raking the baselines of baseball fields too. It was easy to put together and the head, being carbon steel, is heavy duty. This making the rake a bit heavy, but the long handle still makes it easy to use. The head can be made smaller in width and the handle shorter in length which gives me options I really like. It was easy to put together and you can tell whoever designed it put some thought into what the end user, you and I, were going to be using it for. That means it does what it was designed to do and does it well.
Great tool for regular yard work
This leveling rake works well so far. It is light weight enough to move throughout the yard and heavy enough to move the topsoil and mulch around easily. I like the two sided aspect of it as one side has the serrated edge to break up clumps a bit while working and the smooth side for easy leveling. A quick release pin is likely in my future so it is. easier to switch from the smooth to the serrated side without the need of a tool to loosen the nut/bolt to flip the base over. The handle length is great, at 6′ 2″ sometimes tools with long handles end up causing some serious bending to use, this one is good to go. I live in southern Arizona and we’ve got some rough soil out this way, for some areas of my yard I’ll have to prep the area with a pick ax and then use this for the leveling and with that I’ll likely add a few sandbags on top of the base for added weight to help break up the soil a bit more. Overall though, it’s been working well for me. I was able to get this put together in a matter of minutes with the tools that came with the rake.
Great product for the price
I have heard of this type of product when I first bought our home but I didn’t realize how much this makes my life easier. The handle being 78 inches makes it much easier to manage the rake despite me thinking the opposite. It was easy to assemble everything. The rake comes in three pieces and the handle is in six pieces that thread into each other. Technically you can make the handle shorter by not including a few of the tubes in the middle. It comes with all the tools you need to tighten the bolts. The rake can be flipped if you need to use the serrated edges. Overall, a solid product.
