    Action packed and fast paced
The film is enjoyable, very well paced and not stretching out sci fighting to the point of boringly excessive. It does a good job establishing the personality of the fledgling Predator and nicely keeps to it’s rating with no gory HUMAN casualties like some of its predecessors. All in all, a fun watch for the whole family.

    Extremely Awesome!
Predator: Badlands is extremely awesome! The story was a great story about root for the underdog, never betray your family, and train yourself to become a great fierce warrior! The action was epic! There was a handful of funny moments. The scenery of the planet they were on was very beautiful! The futuristic technology of all the ships, and weapons was very cool! Without any doubt this is one the best Predator movies! Have a great day and go Predator: Badlands!

Enjoyable extension of the Predator series after lots of bad ones
Having thoroughly enjoyed the first Predator v Alien (Arctic set semi horror-ish sci fi which still is the best IMO) bluray, I saw several iterations of mostly unworthy Americanised ‘rubbish’ except the last “Red Indian-ish” version which had basically much less predatory elements and mostly nice Indian US rolling landscapes to redeem it. This then is a much more enjoyable Predator-version, albeit in a slightly game-like mode and lots of alien worlds CGI and half an android lady…the top half. It was great in 3D in an immersive IMAX cinema with goggles (surprisingly) and still enjoyable on a less 3D but good Sony TV wide screen at home on bluray where the visual enjoyment is, well, flatter but still good and good sound. The dialog is a bit corny (I am not a fan of pithy US styled jokey retorts by the female half-android) but Elle Fanning does well enough together with the half-idiotic grunts from the very action oriented Predator (English subtitles)) but bearable, and the monsters are nice albeit on the tame side. It is quite predictable till the near-end but still a fun and good enough sci fi romp (less serious than say Prometheus, a more serious scientific expedition to far off worlds which I liked and preferred as a real sci fi and not gamey). My only other observation is that Predator’s skin in this film looked much more like a wearable rubber suit and big feet (reminds me of the Hobbit and his outsized big feet!) rather than his own actual inbuilt skin – his head was better…The sheer need for leadership violence by all of the Predator clan is well…something to expect!

A new movie entry in the ‘Predator’ Franchise. It does stand all on it’s own, bar some minor continuity references to a few things. But if you don’t get those it won’t leave you confused. Those are added bonuses. Just some general familiarity with the first Predator movie will be all you need to get into this.

It’s a twelve certificate so violence but nothing too extreme.

This takes a different approach to the others in that the Predator is the viewpoint character this time around. Which does mean all his dialogue is in his native tongue with English subtitles for it. He’s young and has been outcast from his tribe. So he’s out to prove his family wrong and show them he can do it on his own.

But he then meets Thia [Elle Fanning] a somewhat talkative individual. And the two form an unlikely bond. An epic journey of discovery awaits…

Some may not be keen on the direction of the film. Some on the twelve certificate and thus things not being more violent or gorier. But to each their own. I found this quite an enjoyable and watchable bit of science fiction. Elle Fanning makes the film. Thia could be annoying but she ends up being quite a sympathetic and likeable character and you do get a good main character bond. It allows her to stretch herself as an actress as well and she does respond to that with aplomb.

Action continues throughout. In the twelve certificate style as mentioned. It’s a good story arc in a coherent film that hangs together fine. And frankly I had an enjoyable time with it. So it’s worth a watch.

Right after the title comes up at the end stay watching for an extra scene that is just there to set up a sequel. There’s nothing else extra during or after the credits.

There’s no extras on the dvd.

    Language and subtitle options:

Languages: English. Castilian Spanish. English audio described.
Subtitles: English, Castlian Spanish. Danish. Finnish. Norwegian. Swedish.

Entertaining and not what I expected from a Predator. Good production values, script, characters.
Waited until I could rent it. Franchise, if that is the right word like Star Wars 1,2,3,4 ???? tend to play out somewhere in the sequence and get so familiar and even bad sometimes, lairy to pay a lot for this Predator release. But overall, a decent take on the franchise and always interesting when the view is different and this case, the Predator gives a different look, view and actually a personality beyond just a killer. Production values are 1st rate with only one very obvious “green or blue screen” effect but other than that…..I liked the story, the action, the script and the characters. Worth a view. Entertaining. Do wonder how the industry will follow up with another after this one.

Wow. Awesome. I really want to see Prey now.
This movie is a complete revitalization of the Predator franchise. I haven’t seen Prey, but I’ve heard it’s amazing. This is the best Predator movie they’ve made in decades. Going from the perspective of the Predator was genius, and watching his relationship with the girl form was just great. I’m not some crazy huge fan of the Predator franchise, I just think they’re cool characters. I’m not big into sci-fi. But a good movie is a good movie. This was a blast to watch, I’m glad I bought it rather than rent because I’ve watched it twice already.

Hope for the series. Worth two watches and more!
I have long wanted a good action movie that didn’t try to beat itself to death with terrible wordy dialogue or quips trying to stroke some pissant self proclaimed “Screenwriters” fetish for waxing poetic and making some antagonist some rebel-with-a-cause villian.

    This was punchy.
    It had good action.
It stroked that old 80’s action vibe like it SHOULD….

Genuinely best film I have seen in years for action that didn’t try to beat some moral message into the story or make it campy and include a Mary Sue or Gary Stu.

Please do yourself a favor and buy this film. I say BUY because you will probably want to watch it again or show it to friends! It’s very good!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersEntertaining From Start to Finish
My husband and I had been wanting to watch this movie for a while and were hoping it would be free to stream. Since it wasn’t, we checked the user reviews, which were pretty decent, and decided to bite the bullet and purchase the digital copy. Boy, are we glad we did.

We both absolutely loved this movie. My husband grew up watching all the Predator films and thought this one was done amazingly well. I had never seen any of them and didn’t feel lost at all — I truly enjoyed it. It works perfectly as an origin story for the Predator.

We both found ourselves laughing at parts and were actually pretty sad when it ended because it was just so entertaining. Another bonus was that there was no agenda being shoved down our throats, which was a breath of fresh air.

Even though we purchased the digital copy, we will more than likely be buying this on Blu-ray to add to our movie library. Highly recommend this movie.

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersIt was an awesome movie, and good time was had by all! Check it out.
    First off, some info –
It was a little disconcerting for the first five minutes or so because there were no subtitles when the Predators were talking and arguing with one another (in their own language).
Do NOT let that put you off the movie.
    1) You can figure out what’s being said, just watch the screen.
    2) Once the fight is over, it changes (I can’t tell you why without causing a “spoiler” issue).
So, not to worry. You WILL know what’s going on in the movie. Honest.
    My actual review is –
I LOVED IT! It’s exactly what I was hoping it would be and I can’t wait for the sequel!
If you like the Predator franchise you’re going to like it.
It’s a great Predator ride with a very unique, younger, predator. For one, I thought he was rather likeable and, oddly, having a rather “likeable” predator WORKED.
There are some new (and amazing) critters in this movie too. They really added to the storyline.
If you like predator/sci-fi/alien movies, you’re going to have a lot of fun watching this one.
An aside: I don’t know how the actor managed to convey the vast number of emotions he expressed during the movie, but he did! He’s wearing lots of makeup, but you can still see what he’s thinking and feeling regardless. I mean, even when he’s speaking in his own language without subtitles, you still have a very good idea what he’s saying because of how expressive he is with his body movement, hands and face (in particular the eyes).
Speaking of makeup, KUDOS to the makeup department! They outdid themselves on this one! So did the special effects people.
All of the actors were great, and the plot was unique and kept me glued to the screen.
I was at home watching it, but at once point I wanted to go get a coke, but I didn’t and I didn’t because I didn’t want to pause the movie. I was having too much fun.
It was an awesome movie, and in my house, a good time was had by all.
