A Gaming Mat Nicely Done!
First off, even though this is marketed for mahjong (and truth be told, the handy instructions revealed that I play a different solo-player version — I never knew mahjong was similar to rummikub!), the design allows for it to be used with other games, if you want your table protected. The design on it is beautiful, and the quality of the print is excellent! I can’t vouch for durability, because I’ve only attempted one game on it, but it certainly held fast to the table, that much I truly appreciate! Dice rolling, well, I am okay with it, one of my friends griped. To each their own! Its large size is a big plus, as is the carry case that comes with it!
I am a Mahjong Mat addict. I feel as this gives me some qualification to give us a good evaluation. This is Mat number 10 or 11. I really do have a problem.
The best part about this, Matt actually isn’t the mad itself. It’s the bag that I came in. Most Matt bags are really cheap, fairly poor construction and honestly and afterthought. Honestly, the bag on this one is the nicest I’ve seen out of all the mats I purchased.
The mat itself is OK it’s a good quality but it’s not the greatest or nicest Mat that I have. One thing that I should share is that it has more of a velvet/suede finish instead of a smooth finish. If you’re someone who really likes tiles to glide easily across the plate area this may or may not meet your needs.
Does feature edge stitching which most IRN nicer mats to and is a fairly good thickness. It will provide some quieting of tile noise and protection for the table.
