Hitch Mounted Ripper Trencher for ATV UTV Tractor, 3 Point

Hitch Mounted Ripper Trencher for ATV UTV Tractor

Hitch Mounted Ripper Trencher for ATV UTV Tractor, 3 Point Subsoiler Plow fits 2″ Receiver, Reinforced Middle Buster with Replaceable Teeth for Garden Trenching and Digging

  • REINFORCED 19LBS MONOLITHIC BUILD: Engineered for heavy-duty tasks, our upgraded tractor attachment mainframe is forged from thickened carbon steel, weighing approx. 19 lbs. This solid construction minimizes the risk of bending or shank snapping often seen in standard lightweight rippers
  • PRECISION-ENGINEERED TIGHT FIT: Unlike loose standard designs, our upgraded subsoiler shank features a tight-tolerance interface with the teeth. This flush fit connection minimizes wobbling and rattling, ensuring high stability and reducing stress on shear bolts for a longer lifespan
  • OPTIMIZED CUTTING GEOMETRY: The 2 replaceable teeth (V-shape and Flat) feature a redesigned force-bearing area and entry angle. This aerodynamic improvement is designed to reduce soil drag by up to 30%, allowing smoother, faster trenching in compacted clay or rocky ground
  • UNIVERSAL & ADJUSTABLE DESIGN: Fits standard 2-inch receivers on ATVs, UTVs, Lawn Mowers, and Cat 0/1 Tractors. Features 12.5" to 17.5" adjustable depth settings. Includes premium mounting hardware (M14/M10 bolts) for a secure, ready-to-work setup out of the box
  • EFFICIENCY FOR TOUGH JOBS: A professional garden plow and digger built to bury wires, pipes, or install dog fences with ease. The improved structural integrity ensures stable, straight lines even in hard soil, making it the ultimate landscaping tool for spring preparation

Fairly strong material, but required some filing and sawing to get to fi
The material seems pretty robust (though not as thick as trenchers I have on say my box-blade). It says 19 lbs in the photos, but then lists it as 16 lbs item weight? In either case, it seems fairly durable as long as you go slow for potential roots or stumps. Having the multiple attachment types for the endpoint is a handy feature.

I think this is overpriced, given that it has issues that lower-tier products tend to have: alignment, fit and finishing issues. It does dig as I tested it on the tractor, but it took more than it should to make it work. Thus only 4 stars.

In my case, I have to workaround these problems to get the product even assembled. These types of issues would be more something you might expect on a budget version of this, but given the price point on this one, these things aren’t supposed to happen. Depending on when you got this, it’s $10-20 more than some competitive models I found where people point out similar alignment and fitting issues.

These should be easy to catch in QA when boxing it up: Do the holes line up, can you put a test bolt through the holes, do the washers sit flush against the surface? I looked for washers in the description pictures and they aren’t shown, which seems odd, but they are in the instructions and I think are necessary to secure this properly.

See photos for more info on these:

For the narrower, flat blade attachment:
I had to file down a burr in the mounting hole. Without removing, the bolt couldn’t freely travel all the way through both sides. I used a small hand file to remove it. Note: this was not merely paint – it took more than a few passes with the file to remove it.

For the broader angled blade attachment:
The washer would not sit flush (on either side I tried it) due to welding artifacts not being cleaned up/ground down before painting/finishing. The fix here was I used a hacksaw to take some material off the washer (a couple mm) so it’d ride above the raised welding areas. I chose to alter the cheapest/most easy to replace part (the washer) vs. grinding away at the welding or boring a larger hole so it could ride higher. Both of those options seemed more destructive and probably more likely I’d mess something else up.

The main problem here is the product can’t set itself apart as a better option with these kinds of issues. It takes what is a pretty straightforward assembly (~5 min) into 20-30 min territory, because you have to first figure out why it’s not aligned, if it can be fixed/worked around or if you have the tools to do it, then find those tools, assemble a proper workspace to do this, take the pictures so people know what happened, report all the problems in the review, etc.

Some might not care about having to do this, but would expect to pay less for it, and others would just look elsewhere due to having to ‘fix’ anything on it just to make it work.

works well with 3pt hitch and a receive
so I have one of these but with the wide wings on it (we call it a potato plow) but the trench is too wide sometimes. I wanted this to be able to dig a smaller trench for things like water or electrical pipe/wire. This worked just fine on my tractor. I’m not sure how you would use it on anything without a 3pt hitch since I’m not sure how you would raise and lower it. I do have a 2″ receiver that hooks up to the 3 point on the tractor so it was just a matter of sliding the hitch pin out, pulling the ball, sliding this in and re-pinning it. The pictures did lead me to believe it would come with 2 extra blades, but mine didn’t, so I took off a star for that.

solid trencher for use on a small tractor, ATV/UTV use maybe
I picked up this trencher to dig a line to bury some electrical cable (direct bury wire) to run power to my pond.
I have a 25 HP tractor with a 3 point attachment on the rear as well as a gator UTV. I put the trencher together using the provided hardware and chose the more angled tip.
I can use the trencher on the tractor as I can raise and lower the blade on the Cat 1 hitch. I don’t see how this would work on an ATV. Maybe you are smarter than me and can figure it out. First rip at my trench i ran the trencher about 1-2 inches deep and made the 250 foot trench, then returned with it digging a little deeper each time. It is a little awkward getting the same hole each time and making it deeper each pass, but much easier then other methods.
I tried to come back afterwards with my pallet fork on the front and clean the trench with it, as I can better control what I am seeing. That seemed to work ok, and clean the trench up better.
Construction of the trencher is solid. I don’t know about carbon steel or not, but it is solid enough to dig up my softer topsoil just fine. I don’t have rocks or roots or anything difficult to trench through.
Advertisement says it weighs 19 pounds, it is closer to 16 pounds.
For a single use trencher it is more than worth the price point for me. I’ll save it and try to use it again in the future too.

Awesome tool for narrow trenching. Moves rocks without no issues.
Amazing tool and just what I needed for burying a low voltage wire. Simple to use and adjust to required depth. I added this plow to my tractor’s 3 point hitch. I had to cut a 6″ deep trench to bury a 525 foot low voltage cable. I was shocked when I lowered the plow and slowly moved forward. It cut a perfect trench for me. We live where the ground has lots of rocks. This plow handled rocks without an issue moving the larger, baseball sized rocks, to either side. This left the trench open for me to easily bury my cable about 6″ underground. I’m so glad I got this tool. What would have taken me a week or so to dig by hand, I finished in about an hour! Heavy steel with solid welds makes this the perfect tool for shallow trenching.

    Trencher 3 point hitch
I recently received a hitch-mounted ripper trencher and was very impressed. It easily mounted to my New Holland tractor’s 3-point hitch and ballast box, showcasing great versatility for various applications.
The trencher is built with high-quality materials and excellent welds, ensuring durability for heavy use. Its performance makes it a worthwhile investment. Overall, this trencher is a reliable and efficient addition to my equipment, and I highly recommend it for anyone needing a quick trenching solution.
