Other than the bold thickness of this chain that will deter many it would be five stars. However, beware of how thick it is when matching it to yourself or your recipient. My husband like it in the photos but seeing it in person and trying it on it was just too much for him.
I really like the Hero line. We have other pieces from them. Their stuff is well made and for a great cause. Always come with a story card which I love. (see photos)
The magnetic clasp works well and there is one extra piece you can take off to make it a little shorter. But you will lose the flag if you remove that link.

We are a military family, so we love supporting veteran-owned businesses with a mission. I ordered this Hero Company Never Retreat Alpha Wolf Black Chain Necklace for Men for my oldest son. He loves wolves, and while it is subtle on this necklace, the messaging is still there.
This necklace comes with a black, soft pouch. It has the word “hero” printed on it together with a small American flag underneath. There is also a card with a message included about leadership and service, making this also a potential gift for someone about to start in a leadership position or if you want to show gratitude to someone who has done a great job in such a position.
This necklace is quite heavy and the links are also quite big. It’s definitely a statement piece. It’s easy to put on and take off by yourself. It’s the same system this company uses on their bracelets. There are 3 magnetic links that slide into each other. They do bend a bit to fit the curvature of your neck, so you can’t wear them upside down. I think that’s probably the only negative I can see about this necklace. On the outside, you can only see the wolf head and the words “never retreat.” On the inside, one link has the American flag with the word “hero,” another has “alpha” with the Greek letter for it included as well, and the third has the shield with the crossed swords. Nobody can see that though, so it’s just for you to know. I don’t see a way to put one in differently to change what shows on the outside.
Overall, I am quite happy with this necklace. It’s well-made and very sturdy. I think it makes for a wonderful gift for the hero in your life.
