Lightweight Reversible Eco-Friendly Outdoor Rug
I had an upcoming dinner function at my house and we needed to change out the outdoor carpets where guests would be sitting. I saw this Garvee Outdoor Area Rug and liked its features and design. This area rug was a generous 8’x10′ in size. This outdoor rug is made from 100% recycled plastic (polypropylene). So for the environment conscious people, this is an easy win. This rug weighs an only a mere 6.9 lbs. This makes it super portable. This tightly braided polypropylene straw composition also allows for easy cleaning. This Garvee Outdoor rug is both waterproof and UV resistant thanks to a special coating. The rug is also reversible and this feature is good for those who desire a constant design change. This reversibility also extends life use if one side gets discolored or worn looking. There is an enclosed carrying case if one wants to fold the carpet and move it for storage or take it on the go. This rug is also stain-resistant and easy to clean. You can hose off dirt or deep clean with mild soap. For a designer touch, this outdoor carpet comes in various colors and design to match your decor. There is also 4 corner ties and 4 ground stakes to hold it down. This outdoor mat is perfect for your camping adventures. However, I did deduct one star for a few reasons. I wouldn’t really call this a rug, but its a thin plastic mat that is very lightweight and needs to be anchored down or any bit of a breeze will blow it away. It includes 4 stakes for each corner, so this would work at a camp site where you could put the stakes into the ground. In order for you to use this on your hard surface patio, you will need heavy furniture or planters sitting around the parameter of this mat to prevent it from blowing away. Also, this mat comes folded up so there are many seams showing. However, the main seams can be folded onto each other to help them not show as much. Instruction are in the package on how to do this. But there are non main seams that will still show. I’m sure once the mat is flat and used, the seams will relax and not longer show. I personally will probably just roll it up to prevent the seams again instead of folding up and putting it back in the included carrying bag. I do love the pattern design of this mat. If you have an enclosed sun room, this would work perfect since you wouldn’t have to anchor it down from the wind. Since I’m going to use this on my concrete patio, I need to find some heavy planter boxes or something for each corner to weight this down while my patio chairs and table sit in the middle of the mat. Any breeze seems to lift up the mat easily.
Overall, this mat is water proof and easy to clean. I feel the price point might be a little high for what you get though, so I don’t consider it a very good value for my purposes.
Attractive, versatile, practical, and easy to use outdoor rug
This nice outdoor rug is very easy to use, which makes it handy for many different situations and occasions. It unfolds and folds up very easily. It is thick enough that it covers the ground and provides a sufficient degree of cushioning and separation without being heavy at all. The problem with some outdoor rugs is that they are very heavy and awkward to use and store.
This rug is made from propylene, which is often used in ropes, so it is strong and very flexible. The actual fabric of the rug is made of densely woven tubular straw-like fibers which provide the rug with thickness and cushioning. The rug does not absorb water, is easily washed and dried, and is lightweight for its size. Sand falls right out of the rug by shaking it or gently beating it. Some forms of polypropylene deteriorate in prolonged sunlight, but according to the product page, this rug has a UV coating, making it resistant to sunlight.
The rug is very attractive and does not look cheap or flimsy. I got the Terra-cotta White color rug. I think the color is very attractive and the contrasting geometric pattern gives the rug a lively, three-dimensional appearance without looking garish or out of place in a casual setting outdoors or indoors. The rug can be flipped over to show a reverse pattern of predominant white background with terra-cotta patterning, which is also very handsome.
When first opened, the rug shows quite distinctive creases. However, following the included product instructions by folding the creases backwards and setting the rug out flat makes the creases less noticeable and not a problem. The rug has loops in each corner and comes with four metal stakes, which can be used to help hold the rug down outdoors.
The rug comes with a handy zippered carry bag for storage. The rug folds up very easily and does not take up much space. Folded into its bag, the rug measures a tidy 16″ wide by 12″ high by 9″ deep. A particularly useful feature is that the bag has a transparent window in it so you can see what is inside.
I ordered the 8′ x 10′ outdoor rug, which covers a large area. Even for its size, the rug is not difficult to set-up or move. The rug is suitable for use on an all season porch, or for setting up outdoors on a patio, or on the ground for picnics and get-togethers. It can even be used in a basement or other area where a good durable floor covering is needed which is resistant to dampness and easily dried.
My rug had well stitched seams, and good construction with no manufacturing defects. It is the quality item which I believe will be very durable and should last a long time.
At the cost of $90, I think this rug is a very good value.
