Strap on back of backpack slides over suitcase handle to keep them attached (see photo)
I wish I had this backpack back in the days when I flew more often. This is a traveler’s backpack. I love that there’s a strap on the back of it that slides over the telescoping handle of a suitcase so that it stays attached while you pull the suitcase through an airport, even if you’re not holding onto the backpack directly. Of course, I would still recommend holding onto the backpack handle while you pull it, even if you have it attached. But at least if someone tried to grab it and yank it away from you, it would be much harder for them since it’s also attached to the suitcase handle itself.

With it being risky to try to charge things at airport charging stations these days, it’s nice that you can carry a charger in your backpack and provide your own power source for charging a phone, tablet or laptop.

The pockets for bottles on the sides are expandable so they should fit a variety of size tumblers, etc. This particular backpack is also expandable so you can tighten it up if you need it to fit in an overhead bin or stick to a particular size, but then loosen it up to make it easier to find things in the backpack, or pack it fuller.

The backpack seems pretty waterproof and has plenty of padding. The shoulders traps are comfortable and there’s a chest strap to help keep it on as well.

I expected it to have a strong chemical odor, being that it is somewhat water resistant and I don’t know what it’s made from. However, the odor wasn’t too strong. As someone with MCS, that was a pleasant surprise.

$62 for an off-brand backpack sounds a little high, but it seems well made and has a lot of nice features, so it’s probably worth the price.

Easily Accessible Compartments with a Well-Organized Desig
Backpacks come in many sizes, with compartments and pockets designed to accommodate contents such as notebook computers and clothing. This backpack strikes a balance that meets the challenge of a daypack or a bag for few days of travel.

    Design:
With an Oxford textile exterior, the backpack blends durability with a clean look. Three compartments are accessible on the front panel of the backpack, one pocket on each side panel, and a dedicated laptop sleeve inside the back panel compartment.

    Front Panel:
An exterior expansion zipper around the main, front compartment opens an expandable gusset that adds about 3 inches of depth on the interior. Expanded, the main compartment is approximately 19 inches long, 12 inches wide, and 7 inches deep. Dual zipper pulls run the full length of the compartment, which gives unobstructed access when loading or removing contents. Inside this main compartment, there’s a mesh pocket for stowing a battery pack. A USB pass-through routes from the interior to external USB-A and USB-C ports on the right side-panel. I checked the charging capability of the setup, and it functioned well. While attaching a USB-C cable to the port, I had an issue with the silicone-like cover partially blocking the port. After I pushed and held the cover aside, the connector plugged in cleanly.

Both front halfzip compartments include interior organizer slots for pens, business cards, or a calculator, while the deeper top pocket has enough room for an iPad. Each of these two compartments has a single zipper pull.

    Back Panel:
Accessible from the back panel is a laptop compartment. It is large enough to accommodate a thin, midsize laptop with sufficient padding to cushion it under normal circumstances. Like the main compartment on the front panel, the back panel has dual zipper pulls running the entire length of the compartment providing full access. In front of the laptop pocket, another pocket has enough space for a tablet or similar sized item. An elastic strap with a Velcro closure secures items in these two pockets. Also, on the left side of the back panel, a single vertically zipped compartment is large enough for passports, vaccination cards, or other thin items.

    Side Pockets:
Two side pockets are available for quick access. Each pocket uses a single elastic band stitched near the top of the pocket to secure the contents. Since these pockets are fabric rather than mesh, they could retain moisture from a damp bottle. The elastic bands on these pockets are tight, so there is the possibility that a thin plastic bottle could compress under the force exerted by the bands. These pockets are better suited for rigid plastic or metal containers.

    Use:
The back panel features two sections of soft, meshcovered padding, and the same padded mesh provides comfortable support on the underside of the shoulder straps. At the base of the shoulder straps, the lower webbing extensions allow quick cinching. A height adjustable sternum strap moves a few inches up or down for a more custom fit, but this strap’s length may be a bit short for people with broader chests. In use, the backpack adjusts well and doesn’t ride too low on the hips, but individual height and build will affect the overall fit and feel. As with most daypacks, there isn’t a hip belt to redistribute weight from the shoulders to the hips.

    Summary:
Among this bag’s strong points are solid construction, versatility, and a well-organized design. The muted gray lining feels durable and blends well with the exterior. At around 7 inches, the depth of the large front panel compartment on this backpack is one of the most spacious I’ve seen. Both front and back panel compartment access is outstanding, which makes packing and finding items convenient. Multiple pockets in the compartments allow organizing smaller items systematically without searching for them.

I’ve used several bags from this seller, and each has demonstrated consistently high build quality. This model follows suit, combining solid construction and a clean design with the versatility to function as either a daypack or a shorttrip travel bag. Given its durability and understated appearance, it’s a pack I’d confidently go with for upcoming trips.

    Another fantastic backpack from Fenruie
This is the third bag that I have reviewed from Fenruien. On the last backpack that I tested, I had noted that it was the best backpack that I have ever tried. This backpack actually raises the bar a little bit above that bag.

First, let’s talk about the general construction of this bag. The material feels almost like it is coated in some sort of rubbery or plastic like material. This may sound a bit odd, but I find that the material feels really good and appears to be super tough. It also seems to be highly water resistant. I poured a small puddle of water on the bag and just let it sit for ten minutes. Even after ten minutes the water simply wiped off instantly with zero intrusion into the material. While my description may not have sounded very appealing, believe me, it looks and feels great.

Next up is the design of the pockets and compartments. Starting at the front face of the bag, the bottom half has a really generously sized pocket. I was able to put an 8-inch tablet in this pocket with lots of space leftover. At the top of the front face is another zippered compartment. When looking at it from the outside it may look like this compartment goes only halfway down the bag, but it actually extends behind the lower compartment going all the way to the bottom of the bag. In words, this is a large compartment, not a small one.

Behind this is the next compartment that extends all the way from the top of the bag to the bottom and opens a full 180 degrees. This makes packing and unpacking ultra easy. This compartment is also expandable using another zipper that will provide roughly an additional 3 inches of depth should you need the extra space. The great thing about this design is that the bag can be more compact if you don’t need the space, but it can also expand to provide a truly large compartment, although without expansion it already has an impressive amount of space. There is another thing that I noticed about the design of this compartment that I love: While this compartment can open a full 180 degrees, you can simply stand up the main part of the bag. Because the base is so wide, the bad simply stays upright at 90 degrees while the compartment is opened up to lay flat. This is great if you are working in a smaller area where there is not enough room to open the bag a full 180 degrees. Again, this may sound like a small thing but it really makes a difference in everyday usage.

Behind this compartment is the next set of zippers used to expand the depth of the compartment that we just discussed.

Behind that is the laptop compartment. In that compartment I currently have a 13.3-inch notepad in a neoprene sleeve for even more protection, and a portable 13.3-inch monitor in a protective case. Once again, this compartment also opens a full 180 degrees which makes handling of the contents ridiculously easy. Also, I know that sounds like I am repeating myself, but there is plenty of extra space in this compartment.

Did you think this this was all? Not even close! on the back of the back is yet another zippered compartment that is oriented vertically. This compartment is located about mid-way down the back of the backpack, and it extends roughly halfway across the width of the backpack. The compartment slides behind the padding on the back so your back will still be against the soft padding in the back and what you put in this compartment still remains protected.

One of the backpack straps has a small, zippered compartment built right into it. It’s only large enough for some coins and folded bills or a couple of thumb drives; anything very small would be appropriate here. Speaking of the backpack straps, these straps do have a cross-body strap that connects between the two straps across your chest. In past reviews I have noted that my personal preference is to not use such a strap, but for those who like this, this bag does include it.

Both the left and right side have side pockets large enough to hold a water bottle. I particularly like the design for these pockets that Fenruien uses. When not in use these pockets are snug up against the main body of the bag adding to the clean, sleek look of this bag.

I know that there are backpacks out there that cost multiple hundreds of dollars. I admit that I have never tried a bag like that so I cannot make a fair comparison, but in the under $100 price range, I have tried many different bags and brands. This is far and away my absolute favorite.

It is exceptionally rare that I have no negatives to report on a product. There is almost always some little thing that I could be picky about. However, in this case I would literally not change a thing.

In my opinion, this is an exceptionally well-designed backpack made from first class materials, very well assembled, and a great value for the money. I give this a most enthusiastic recommendation!
