Product description

A piece of cookware that has genuinely improved my cooking experience.
I’ve been using this 5QT enameled cast iron Dutch oven for a few weeks now, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite pieces of cookware in the kitchen. I originally bought it to try baking sourdough bread at home, and the results have been amazing—the heat retention is excellent, and it creates that perfect crust while keeping the inside soft and airy. After that, I started using it for stews and braised dishes, and it performs just as well, distributing heat evenly and keeping everything at a steady temperature. The enameled finish is a big plus because it doesn’t require seasoning and is much easier to clean than traditional cast iron. I also like that it doesn’t absorb odors or flavors, so I can switch between different recipes without any issues. The dual handles make it easier to move, even when it’s full, and it feels solid and well-built without being overly cumbersome. I’ve used it on both the stovetop and in the oven, and it handles high temperatures without any problems. The ivory color looks clean and stylish, which is a nice bonus when serving directly from the pot.
For fans of Le Creuset without breaking the bank.
I’ve been on the hunt for a new dutch oven ever since I donated a smaller sized one from the Martha Stewart brand. I needed something that could handle a small chicken or roast, or a generous batch of beef stew or curry. This is an absolutely beautiful and functional enameled cast iron Dutch oven. I ordered the deep green with gold knob on the lid, and it has become a decorative accessory to my stovetop, in addition to being a very useful cooking tool.
The claims about even heat distribution are totally accurate. Once this pot heats up, you can see small, consistent bubbles all across the pot, with no obvious hot spots (versus when I have tried to use my All Clad for stews). We used the dutch oven for the first time to make beef Japanese curry, and the kids pointed out how much more tender the beef tasted.
As far as value, that depends what you’re looking for, but some basic market research suggests that the pricing is fair and comparable to what else is out there. Stylistically and functionally, I’d say this is a solid alternative to Le Creuset. For a fraction of the cost, you get the same 500-degree baking threshold and a near-identical asthetic design. Its weight is also comparable to Le Creuset, which is worth noting as that brand is often regarded for using proprietary materials to make items lighter. Despite this, the product is still quite heavy, which is in part why I just leave it out on my stovetop.
If you’re searching for a beautiful dutch oven with a high-end look, I’d definitely recommend this item, especially if you can snag it on sale.
Quality item at a remarkably low price
Dutch ovens made from enameled cast iron have been around for some time, and are great for making dishes like stews or braised meats; they hold heat very well and can tolerate high oven temperatures. More recently, they have entered something of a renaissance as a means of baking sourdough bread.
A well known TV ‘test kitchen’ recently reviewed Dutch ovens ranging from inexpensive, all the way to the nosebleedingly expensive version made in France that gets universal acclaim. The difference in prices was nearly 8:1, but surely, the functional differences can’t be quite that significant. The test kitchen review cited features like comfortable handles, as well as quality issues like chips or cracks in the enamel, and it appeared to me that the ‘mid-priced’ models would be more than sufficient. Then I saw this Jinchufuri model on Amazon, with it’s very reasonable price, and decided to try it.
I am definitely NOT disappointed. The Jinchufuri Dutch oven appears to be beautifully made, with a thick, smooth enamel overcoat, a sufficiently heavy weight, and features like large comfortable handles on the pot and a generous knob on the lid. I immediately put it to work, making braised boneless short ribs, and the oven’s performance was excellent; the meat came out tender and flavorful, and even though I had seared the meat in the pot to the point of sticking to the bottom, it cleaned up quite easily afterwards. The enamel coating showed no chips or cracks. I got the off-white version, but it’s available in a red or green color, as well… I assume the interiors of all colors are off-white, which makes it easy to assess the development of the fond, as well as making it easier to keep clean.
This product looks like an excellent alternative to the overpriced competition.
