Perfect for pre-teen!
Bought this for my son. Works really well and is user friendly. He is 11 and picked up using it with no problem. Love how there’s no internet or apps which makes parental monitoring much easier. The interface is easy to figure out and loading music, videos, pictures in multiple formats is super easy. Literally drop and play.
Bought this MP3 player w/ the intention of using my phone less, quitting music subscriptions, and using less data usage. I’m also a musician so listening to music is crucial.
Pros:
1. It functions similar to the iPod Classic. It’s small!
2. It has a speaker! The sound quality is quite crispy once it’s loud. But it sounds great.
3. Very lightweight! I was quite surprised.
4. Very easy to add in your albums, playlists, etc.
5. You can customize your own themes!
6. It is upgradable! You can pry it open to upgrade the storage w/ caution.
7. Bluetooth sound quality is awesome. Some audios may have crackling but I’m assuming that’s due to the audio files.
8. You can use a PC or any device that has connection via USB-C to USB-C to edit your files!
Cons (there might be more as I continue to use it) :
1. Bluetooth connection is “hit or miss”.
I was unsure whether it connected to my AirPods 3 (TikTok videos & Reddit claimed AirPods doesn’t connect or completely didn’t specify which model).
But my AirPods 3 DOES connect to the Y1 Player. The connection wait does get irritating sometimes (30 seconds – 1 minute). You also have to make sure you’re in range.
2. Battery drains QUICK while using Bluetooth. It does drain fast with my AirPods 3 (100 to 95 within 45 minutes – 1 hour). But using the speaker or wired headphones prevents that.
3. The UI does have various slow downs. It is run by Android.
4. Depending on your Bluetooth/Wired Headsets, the max volume may feel too quiet. It could also be your audio files so double check!
Ex. Some classical music may still sound too quiet on MAX volume. But basic pop music would be loud on MAX.
Recommendations:
1. Buy a case branded by Innioasis.
Helps prevent scratches & drops.
2. Buy a tempered glass screen protector branded by Innioasis.
The screen does scratch easily if you’re not careful!
3. Buy a wrist strap.
Improvements:
1. Better Bluetooth Connection
2. Better Battery
3. Better processor for faster input.
Conclusion:
I would say WAIT for their newest model w/ better improvements or find a similar model. I personally like this MP3 player except the Bluetooth & battery issues.

I love the nostalgic feel of this mp3. I also have an original iPod classic 5.5 gen and I got this mp3 for my son. He loves it. We put an Apple theme on it for him so it presents as an Apple device. The Bluetooth works great, sound quality is good. User interface is easy to use. I would recommend this mp3 to anyone who isn’t a stickler for extra high quality audio files. It works for its intended purpose. Its a budget mp3 that meets our needs!

I love my MP3 player. I use it for language learning and e books to keep distractions limited. I like the earphones that come included. The nostalgic build is a huge plus. I know there are software mods to do to the Y1, but I don’t feel the mod is necessary.
It’s plastic, but very good quality. I’ve had it 5 days now, and determined that it’s fairly easy to use, and sounds great. My only complaint is that I’m having the hardest time trying to get rockbox installed. ADDENDUM – TO THIS DAY, STILL NO LUCK WITH ROCKBOX.
