After extensive usage, the 50mL Adjustable Repeater Syringe proved to be durable enough to withstand intensive work in the farms. I liked its blue syringe body. Good Volume Injector Kit For Larger Livestock
The Xeeloerwaai (aka KSU brand on the unit) injection kit is a durable continuous injector for larger livestock with a heavy duty holster. The injector feels sturdy without being heavy. The trigger design is ideal for repeated measured injections while wearing thick work gloves. The included holster is heavy grade with strong velcro and is fully adjustable to fit . It is designed to hold a thick plastic needle protection tube in which the injector sits. There is a safety strap to keep the injector secure when not in use. It might be suitable for other injectors of similar design.
The injector provides for up to 50 X 1ml injections when full. There is a dosing dial that can be set to between 1 and 5ml per injection. The injections appear very precise based on the movement between graduations of the cylinder. It is possible to deliver in 0.5 ml increments, but the dial does not click those into place, so this is not recommended.
The components of the injector feel like good quality. The amber shaded cylinder is thick medical grade plastic. The solid steel plunger is the heaviest component. Which is good as the graduated teeth will not wear down. The kit comes with four colored indicator knobs that can be placed on the plunger’s back end. Which is great for keeping track if you are handling multiple injectors at one time. The luer lock tip is also steel, and screws on deep to the cylinder. It looks like there is a flat washer in the luer tip, but I plan to put some Teflon tape on the cylinder threads just to be safe. The needles included are 12 gauge, but the standardized luer tip can accommodate other sizes sold separately.
Taking apart the injector for cleaning is straight forward. The “manual” included is a two-sided piece of paper which details how to disassemble. Just a heads-up that when reinserting the plunger arm into the body, it may cause the safety button to literally pop off as it is spring-loaded. I recommend sterilizing all components before the first use.
The Xeeloerwaai injector is a mid-priced syringe that feels like it’s on the higher end. And when coupled with the heavy duty holster, I believe the kit is a very good value.
