Fantastic! Safe, well made, versatile, and really fun - even my 13 year old plays!
I have a space under my stairs that is supposed to be a coat closet. But it keeps going, so I’ve turned it into “Narnia,” complete with lamp post and forest in the back. It’s a reading nook for my kids and a play space for my brother’s kiddos (ages 1-6). I have bean bags, books, lights, and duplos in there. So I was REALLY excited when I saw these to add along the wall for my 1 year old niece. This is a safe space where the kids can go in and play and there are no choke hazards, no electrical outlets – nothing dangerous, just safe play.
I wasn’t sure if I was putting these boards exactly where I wanted them for height and spacing, so in this picture I’ve just used 3M velcro tabs to place them on the wall. But these boards come with sheetrock anchors, screws, and covers to hide the screws on the surface of the board, so when I’m ready, I’ll be able to mount them securely and everything was included.
I appreciate the colors, the soft textures, and the fact that none of this represents a choke hazard. Keeping safety in mind for this room, these were a natural addition. I want to be able to let my SIL rest when she comes over knowing the kids are safe to play relatively unsupervised there.
The play is modular and adaptive – even the “marble run” can be converted to a “lite brite” using all safe wooden pieces and pegs – everything easy for little hands to hold and manipulate, but encourages problem solving, dexterity, manual manipulation, and creativity. I know it’s designed for toddlers 2-7 (according to the description), but I couldn’t keep my 9 and 13 year old away from it long enough to even get them put up on the wall.
Two of the boards arrived a little scratched up and have some cosmetic blemishes on them (pictured), but nothing that would impact usability in anyway – and the kids are about to have at it anyway so it’s only a matter of time til these have crayon on them anyway (IYKYK).
These were such a great find. They’re well-built and will last a long time – hopefully as long as the kids are interested in playing with them – because at the moment there is a line of kids out the door waiting for their turn. And with nine nieces, nephews, and kids of my own, these are a super welcome addition to ‘Narnia.’
Great Quality, Tons of Activities, Just Plan for Installatio
This is such a great activity set. The quality is really solid and everything feels well made and durable. There are so many different elements across the panels, which keeps my toddler engaged much longer than most toys. He’s constantly switching between activities, and it’s nice to have something that holds his attention without needing constant intervention.
I also love that it’s not just for one stage. There’s a good variety of activities that can grow with your child, so it feels like something he’ll continue to use as he gets older rather than outgrowing it quickly.
The only downside is the setup. Since it comes as multiple panels, you do have to take your time installing it if you want it to look clean and lined up properly on the wall. Making sure everything is straight can be a bit of a process. I really wish it came with a template or guide to help with spacing and alignment because that would make installation so much easier.
For now, we’ve actually been using the panels as individual activity boards instead of mounting them, and that’s worked really well too. My toddler can hold them, move them around, and play with each section on his own, which adds some flexibility. The only exception is the peg board. That one works best once it’s hung, depending on how you want to use it.
Overall, it’s a really engaging, well thought out toy that offers a lot of variety and longevity. Great for keeping little ones busy while also supporting learning and fine motor skills.
Engaging Montessori Wall Busy Board
We installed this 5-panel wooden sensory wall busy board in our playroom.
What stands out positively:
Variety across the panels, Each of the five scalloped-edge panels offers something different: musical elements like the mini xylophone with mallet, finger-counting hand with movable digits, locks/zippers/gears for fine motor practice, a shape-matching tangram-style board with colorful pieces, and a pegboard with colorful shapes for patterns and counting. The mix keeps things fresh — my daughter rotates between them naturally.
Quality craftsmanship, Made from smooth, natural wood with rounded edges and no rough spots. Everything feels sturdy and child-safe; the pieces are securely attached or have good friction so they don’t fall off easily during play. The wall-mounting was straightforward with the included hardware.
Promotes independence and focus, She spends 20-40 minutes at a time exploring solo, which is huge for us. It builds fine motor skills (twisting knobs, sliding beads, fitting shapes), problem-solving, and even early music/math concepts without feeling like “learning.”
Space-saving and aesthetic, Mounted at toddler height on the wall, it frees up floor space compared to freestanding busy boards. The natural wood and soft pastel accents look nice in the room — not too cartoonish.
A few minor drawbacks:
– Assembly requires drilling into the wall (studs recommended for security), and while the panels connect nicely side-by-side, measuring for even spacing took a bit of time.
– Some smaller loose pieces (like the tangram shapes or pegs) can end up on the floor if tugged hard — we added a small mat underneath to catch them.
– No lights or sounds beyond the xylophone, which is a pro for us (less overstimulation), but if your child loves flashy elements, this is more classic/tactile.
Overall verdict:
This is one of the best investments we’ve made for independent play. It encourages creativity, concentration, and skill-building in a calm, screen-free way. Perfect for home playrooms. Our toddler asks to “play on the wall” daily!
