Great Quality, I Am Impressed And Would Purchase Agai
This is an honest unbiased review. I am a new beekeeper and should get my bees in about a month. I like to have spare parts in case something gets damaged or I need to add an extra hive. I currently have plastic queen excluders that came with my hives. They are so flimsy and I don’t feel they will hold up well long term. I saw these excluders and gave them a try since there was 4 in the pack. Great quality and I am glad I purchased these. They are very thick and heavy with soft edges that are not sharp and they fit my 10 frame hives perfectly. They will also be easier to clean using a heat gun or hair dryer to melt the wax and stuff and then spray them off and back on they go. If you need queen excluders these are the ones to get.
High Quality Metal Queen Excluder With Excellent Fi
This metal queen excluder is a very good replacement for my old plastic one. It fits my 10 frame hive well and works exactly as expected. The workmanship looks high quality and I do not expect to need another replacement for this hive for a long time. Overall it is a very good value for money.
Positives:
Quality: Metal construction feels strong and well made.
Fit: Fits the 10 frame hive properly.
Functionality: Works exactly as expected as a queen excluder.
Durability: Should last much longer than the plastic version.
Value for money: Excellent replacement at a good price.
Negatives:
No negatives observed at this time.
Higher quality, definitely better materials, construction and features.
These are queen excluders of the proper dimensions for a 10 frame Langstroth hive. They are also of the proper dimensions to do their job of excluding the queen while still allowing worker bees to pass through in both directions.
They are all metal without a wooden frame. The galvanized frame is at least crimped and possibly welded at several points on all four frame sides. Unlike some plastic excluders they are strong, stiff and lay flat. There are no sharp edges for your hands and no sharp edges for the worker bees to negotiate or be injured by. They should stand up to prying up out of propolis when the time comes to remove them. These will stand up to cleaning and reuse giving you a good long term investment. This is not a cheap or low quality product, highly recommended. You will not have buyers remorse.
Well-Constructed Queen Bee Exclude
Nicely constructed queen excluder frame. This product fits standard 10-frame hives and the metal feels durable. Granted, I’m new to beekeeping as a hobbyist and picked up this 2-pack. Overall, the metal construction feels sturdy and should last multiple seasons. This will help makes inspections and harvesting easier. Edges are decent but not perfect; definitely check for sharp spots before putting it in your hive. If you’re just starting, you might not even need a queen excluder as some bees can be slow to move through them. This appears to be a solid product although the pricing is a little higher than some others I’ve seen.
This 4 pack of queen excluders is a great way to stock up
I am trying to get stocked up with everything I need for this years beekeeping and this 4 pack of queen excluders was just what I needed, and a good price too. They seem to be very good quality, the gaps in the grating seem like the rights size to allow workers through to fill the honey supers and small enough to keep the queen down in the brood box where she belongs. These excluders fit very nicely on the hive boxes with no gaps or bent areas. They make good contact with the hive box the whole way around. The metal seems to be good quality metal, it looks like stainless although the seller states that its gavanized, but either way it looks like it should not have any corrosion issues for a long time. I am very happy with this 4 pack of queen excluders
Queen bee ‘excluders’ that help keep your honey production clean.
Metal queen excluders are a must (aren’t they?) to prevent the queens movement into the upper honey comb supers.
– now that we’re in the country we’re beginning to assemble our hives. Keeping the queen in the lower section with the brood prevents the formation of eggs, larvae, and pupae in the comb sections. I quote, “Now with these “Queen Excluders”, I continue down below with the Queen with her helpers making mostly new bees in the bottom of the box. When those new bees below grow older, they go right up through this excluder piece above and start making the honey up above it! All the boxes up above are mostly HONEY.”
– also, if she lays eggs in the upper sections they become susceptible to wax discolorations and wax moths.
– these 10 frame excluders are substantial, well made galvanized steel. Set them in place and forget them. They perform as expected. What we have here is enough excluders for 4 boxes.
– price is commensurate with excluders you’ll find anywhere else. Recommended.
Fits right, feels sturdy and just works
These queen excluders are one of those things that you don’t really think about much once they’re in place, and that’s exactly how it should be.
First thing I noticed was that they actually fit the 10-frame hive properly without any fuss. No bending, trimming, or trying to force them into place. Just set them on and done. That alone makes life easier when you’re already juggling smoker, tools, and frames.
The metal feels solid, not flimsy or bendy. I’ve handled some cheaper ones before that flex way too easily, but these feel like they’ll hold up for multiple seasons. The edges are also smooth, which I really appreciate. Nothing worse than catching your glove or finger on a sharp edge while you’re working a hive.
They do exactly what you want a queen excluder to do. Keep the queen where she belongs and let the workers pass through without slowing things down. Since using them, it’s been easier to keep brood where it should be and honey frames cleaner, which makes harvesting less of a headache later on.
Cleaning them looks like it’ll be simple too. Being metal, you can rinse them off and they seem like they’ll handle regular use without falling apart or rusting quickly.
Having two in the pack is nice, especially if you’re running more than one hive or want to have an extra ready to go.
Nothing fancy here, just solid, dependable equipment that fits right and does its job the way it should.
