Clever design allows both watering and feeding. Plastic is easy to clean.
This top waterer and feeder has a clever design that works well. It took a bit of inspection to figure out how the bees got in and out of the feeding area, but it works. Because of the many perching areas over the water, I anticipate less drowning of bees than with other top waterers.
I think the intention is to use this as BOTH a feeder and waterer at the same time, because otherwise there is a lot of room left over for more watering perches for the bees. Only the areas where bees climb and perch to stay out of the water or syrup are all covered to prevent contamination, but you would undoubtedly put an inner cover or outer cover or both over it to prevent debris from falling or blowing in, so that’s not a huge drawback.
The plastic construction is easy to clean. I expect it will hold up better than wooden feeders, even those made of rot resistant wood.

This NUOMIC 1.2-gallon top feeder is a fantastic tool for supporting bee colonies during buildup or dearth periods. The clear candy board design lets me easily monitor syrup levels without opening the hive, and the 10-frame size fits Langstroth hives perfectly. Bees access the feed cleanly through the screened areas while the deep reservoir holds plenty of 1:1 or 2:1 syrup. It’s well-constructed, easy to fill and clean, and reduces robbing compared to entrance feeders. Such a practical, high-quality feeder that keeps my hives strong with minimal disturbance—highly recommend for hobbyist and small-scale beekeepers!
