Product description

It looks perfect!
This is top quality. Easy to put together. Parts are marked so you can easily follow assembly instructions. All screw holes lined up, and there were a few extra screws for just in case. I hung mine with a chain rather than putting screws into my magnolia tree. Now we wait…
Beautiful squirrel house, might not be completely predator-proof though...
I get a cute trio of squirrel visitors to my back yard so I liked the idea of giving them their own little home to help combat the crazy wind, rain, and most recently, 13 inches of snow that came out of nowhere, that I doubt any of the squirrels had witnessed their entire little lives. My photo shows how it looked when it first arrived – I was impressed with the house itself. The wood quality is nice – it’s the type that smells like genuine wood, and it’s very sturdy and solid.
You can tell that it is designed specifically for squirrels instead of being a generic square wooden house with a hole in it. I like the internal and external climbing ladders, and it’s nice that the roof is angled to allow for rain to not pool. The interior is spacious, but it’s also why I dinged one star off of my review. I agree with what another reviewer said – since the predator guard is curved, I’m not entirely convinced that it’ll really deter some predators. It seems like it’d be very easy for them to reach in and grab.
Overall, it was easy to put together, and looks really nice, and having some sort of shelter is likely better than none with how the weather keeps changing so abruptly. I do believe it is worth the price for the quality of the build, but I do wish the predator guard was better designed.
Easy to assemble and very attractive
It’s the cutest squirrel house. Instructions were great, easy to assemble. We put it up a week ago and just recently I’ve noticed some activity. Just so happy since I worry about our furry friends outside! I’m sure they love it! Looks really great!
I would give this 5 stars, if not for one glaring misstep in design that means life or death. This is a well made, sturdy squirrel box that’s a great value for those that can’t afford the name-brand luxury versions. I have no complaints about construction, materials or anything like that, and it was a breeze to put together. Where’s the danger?
The predator blocker, that is intended to keep raccoons from reaching in and grabbing the poor squirrels or ripping them to shreds. Is cut FAR too high to really do anything at all! They can EASILY REACH IN AND GRAB A SQUIRREL. I would never forgive myself if I provided a home, that resulted in their death. A violent death at that!
If you love squirrels, you MUST add additional wood blocks to the outside, or reduce the opening of the inner blocker. Not sure why they added the curved cutoff to the blocker, which is what makes it useless for its purpose.
Since it’s easy enough to add the required protection, I’m not faulting them more than 1 star since it is a really nice squirrel box otherwise. Just please, please, take the extra step. They’re lives matter too and I’d imagine you care if you’re buying a squirrel box in the first place
Really cute little squirrel house. It’s a nice size, not huge but not tiny. The majority of Squirrels do like to curl up in smaller snug spaces, so it’s better for a house not to be too big. I love love love squirrels & I have many feeders & houses for them in my yard, this one will make a nice addition. I aspire to have an available nest/house for each individual squirrel that visits my feeders & hangs in my yard. The more the merrier! They’re so adorable, I can never get enough squirrelly antics. I really like the squirrel image on the front of this house, that’s a cute little touch. I do add predator guards to all my boxes, as I will to this one. It’s just a few pieces of wood & keeps them safe from predators. I make my guards stick out a decent amount to specifically protect from the raccoons that hang out here at night, as I’ve seen them with their grubby paws reaching into the nest boxes. Definitely not something you want to happen if there’s a mama squirrel with her babies in there. A raccoon, predatory bird & many other animals can pull a squirrel, especially a baby right from the box if the entrance is just flat with an entrance hole. So if you make a square shape out of wood & screw/nail it around the entrance, it keeps long raccoon arms from being able to reach in. Not to mention it provides a cozy porch & rain guard. If you want to draw squirrels in to nest in your boxes, you want to make sure their safe right! Boxes like this are the perfect start though. Just build that predator protection square real quick & rest assures your furry babies are comfy & safe while they sleep. This house was easy to put together, it assembles faster when using a drill too. 5 stars from me! Be kind to nature!
