    Trying a new craft!
First of all I have to say I know absolutely nothing about this craft! I love trying new things though, and this looked like a really creative and fun project for me to try.

There’s a very nice handwritten note from the company and that’s always appreciated by customers…that personal touch.

I’ve been watching video tutorials to see what it’s all about and also reading the instructions but have not yet attempted to do one.

All the materials included look like quality. It says you can start right away because everything you need is included in the box (you will have to provide your own eggs though).

I really appreciate the included patterns and the explanations of the designs. This is going to be a real learning experience.

I don’t think I’ll be making anything as elaborate as those pictured but I want to make it nice. Hopefully, I will succeed and update this review!

Your Childhood Easter Egg Kit Got A Glow-Up!
I’ve been interested in Pysanky eggs ever since I saw them at the State Fair last year. I had never heard of them until then, and I couldn’t stop thinking about how beautiful they are. The Ukrainian Easter Egg Decorating Kit helped make my Pysanky dreams come true. The kit comes with the pens, wax blocks, dye, a tube to sit the egg on while decorating or displaying, a candle, and traditional decorating ideas. The kit is very easy to use, think of the childhood style of drawing on eggs with white crayons, but fancier. This takes time as multiple layers of wax are applied with the stylus and removed to get a multicolored design. For the current asking price of $44.99, I think this is a great value for the quality of dyes and materials included in the kit. This is definitely nicer than the simple tablets and vinegar mix we grew up using. I can’t wait to make some exciting eggs this Easter!

Exquisite Tools for Unique Easter Egg Crafting
The Ukrainian Easter Egg Decorating Kit includes a well crafted set of tools and dyes to make unique designs on eggs. This set comes beautifully packaged. The tools look to be artisan with notches at the real wood handle ends to indicate how much wax will flow from the kistka metal applicator (they look to be brass). Each applicator will apply a different flow of wax. There are three wax disks – two lighter and one dark. There is a candle to heat the kistka in order to scoop the wax and then apply it to the egg. There is a holder for the egg. There are instructions and samples of designs typically used for decorating the eggs. There are instructions for preparing the dyes.

Everything you need to get started with Pysanky egg dying is included (except the eggs/egg shells of course).

Because this is new to me, I have looked at several videos. This is a long process I look forward to trying. In addition to many hours of working on one egg, one first needs to prepare the egg shells. This is not like using dyes from the grocery store for a typical US easter egg. I understand these special dyes will last for several days if not weeks when stored properly. There are 10 colors of dyes to choose from. I plan on trying them all.

This kit is a great value and would make a beautiful gift for someone who enjoys creating art and exploring different mediums – or someone who likes decorating eggs.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersGreat dyes & nice kistkas!
I’m a pysanky artist who has worked up quite a following, selling my creations to people all over the world. I have a ton of supplies yet am always curious to see what’s available and add to my toolbox. So I thought it would be fun to check out this set of tools and dyes to see how they perform.

I REALLY wanted to wait to post my review until I had a finished a pysanka to share but I didn’t feel that was quite fair since a) it takes me several days to finish an egg and b) I’ll be away for a few days and that means at least another week before I can sit down and dedicate the time. I absolutely plan to come back and add more photos to my review though to give people a really good idea of what the kistkas in this set can do. Now, of course I ripped everything open the minute it arrived though and started playing around with the set and I’m quite pleased.

So first off, the packaging here is just lovely!! The box is decorative and makes a great first impression absolutely worthy of gifting. I also loved the information included. There’s a note of thanks, a sheet of basic instructions and a page of design instructions elements and their meanings. It’s all very thoughtful and adds a personal touch.

As for the tools! The kit really does supply you with just about everything you’d need to create a Ukrainian Easter Egg. You get 10 packets of dye and a nice assortment of colors. This right here is a great value since I’ve seen a 10 set of this brand of dye sell for $15 plus shipping. You also get 3 kistkas in this set. Nice kistkas! And I’m very familiar with the price of these as well. Basically, the dyes and 3 kistkas make the price of this set reasonable and they’ve added a few extras as well. Like the kistkas cleaning wires. These right here are fantastic. Oftentimes you’ll find just bare wire sold or wire with a little sticker on the end so they aren’t lost as easily. These have a little wooden top that makes them easier to hold and so much easier to find. My study is littered with cleaning wires I’ve dropped and have never been able to find so I really appreciate the 3 in this set.

A little more about the kistkas. The handles are wooden and marked so you know the size of each. The “pot” is made of brass which heats easily and gives a better wax line. I was surprised by the fine lines they make. Although you get a fine,
medium and heavy kistka they make a more delicate line than many others I’ve purchased. The brass eventually wears down after repeated use so in time the line widths will change some but these will offer a nice variety in size allowing for the ability to make detailed designs.

You also get 3 rounds of wax, 2 that melt clear and are best used for “filling” and a black wax which is best used for line work as it makes it easier to see your design as you write. They’ve also included a little wooden egg stand so you can display your pysanka.

One more thing about the dyes! They’re quality. I only mixed up 2 of the colors but was able to get a really solid result which them. And I was using an old and manhandled egg that I hadn’t even prepped which is a sign of the strength of the dyes.

So yeah, for a starter kit this seems really complete to me and everything provided is of good quality, plus the price is quite fair and it offers the convenience of getting everything at once.

I’lll be back again to share my finished pysanka
