    Great speakers for the price
These Saiyin Powered Bluetooth Bookshelf Speakers are great for the price. I’m an A/V enthusiast, but far from an audiophile. Even so, many smaller speakers I’ve used tend to have a tinny sound with little to no bass response. These actually seem very bass forward, and produce a fuller sound than expected for their size.

They have a nice appearance from a distance. The sides have sort of a cherry-stained wood appearance with a high gloss finish. Unfortunately, that finish reveals an orange peel texture in certain light. One of mine also has what looks like a couple distinct dimples on one side of it. If they are on a bookshelf or against a wall somewhere, it will probably go unnoticed. I just happened to have them sitting out in our house surrounded by windows and lots of natural light shining on them, making imperfections visible.

The description makes it sound like these speakers are from Saiyin. The name listed on the speakers, remote, and Bluetooth is SineAudio. I am not familiar with either company, but if SineAudio is the manufacturer, I thought it should be mentioned.

Volume can be controlled from both the speaker and the remote, which is handy. Unlike many other Bluetooth devices, changing volume through the speaker doesn’t adjust volume levels on the device. So, for maximum volume, you would need to max out the volume on both the device and the speakers. I don’t know if this would depend on the Bluetooth version of the device, but noticed it operates differently than most of my other Bluetooth speakers/headphones in that regard.

Again, these speakers seem like a great deal for the money. They have many options for connectivity. Depending on the intended usage, the remote can be very convenient. At the current price of ~$60, they seem like a bargain.

    Smaller Speakers, Big Sound!
This is a decent set of speakers with multiple use potential. The speakers themselves are compact and quite nicely finished with a leatherette top and front and “piano” lacquer sides. The lacquer finish is not the best I’ve seen and maybe a little lumpy to the touch and feel but, given the context of the price, it’s fine. The speaker cones themselves don’t have any kind of grille protection so that might be an issue in the case of pets or prying fingers.

I wanted to test the speakers as alternatives to a TV’s built-in speakers and also to see how much I would miss my usual Dolby Atmos surround system when watching movie and TV content.

I connected the speakers via the ARC input direct to my TV’s E-ARC HDMI socket. At first there was no sound and I was a little disappointed. However, a quick scan of the manual indicated that I needed to set the E-ARC output to PCM rather than Auto or Bitstream. This is because the speakers are not equipped with Dolby Digital or DTS decoders. That could be an issue if these were part of a 5.1 surround set but as a 2.0 or 2.1 set-up, it really makes no difference. Incidentally that 2.1 reference is because the speakers do have the capability to send a subwoofer out signal so you could pair them with one if required.

In use I didn’t miss a subwoofer at all. I placed the speakers each on the front top of my regular left/right speaker towers. Set-up was easy, requiring just a plug in of the AC adapter, the aforementioned HDMI hookup and a single speaker cable from the active (left) speaker to the passive right.

My first audition was an old Sci-Fi movie from the seventies. I was surprised how good the speakers sounded. Cave scenes had a real sense of depth and reverb which extended way beyond the placement of the speakers. Bass depth was palpable, maybe even a little excessive in the context of the mix. I did notice a bit of sibilance in the upper midrange which could make dialog sound a little “hissy”. The more I think about it, the more I think that extra bass and brightness may be built-in to make the speakers sound bigger and clearer than they actually are. Again, given the value I’m not going to complain about that. They certainly sound way better than the speakers found in most flatscreen TVs. I had the speakers quite far out from the wall. Closer placement may make the speakers excessively boomy. In that case two port plugs are included in the accessories as are a thin optical cable and also a 3.5 mm Aux connecter cable.

The speakers also allow for different inputs in the form of 3.5mm Aux, optical and Bluetooth pairing; each selected from the included, slender remote. There are three different sound modes: “News”, “Movie” and “Music”. I preferred “Movie” in my listening tests with mostly TV material.

Overall, I think these represent a great value proposition and would be ideal in a computer and or mixed media setting able to enhance the enjoyment of all manner of content and programming. They’d also work great in a bedroom TV system mated with a smaller flatscreen TV or monitor.

    Recommended.

Compact, Versatile Speakers with Clear Sound and Solid Bass for the Price
I purchased these speakers primarily to use as external speakers for my laptop, but I was also interested in the flexibility of having TV-ARC, Optical, AUX, and Bluetooth inputs for future use with a TV or turntable setup. I’ve used several small desktop speakers over the years, so I was looking for something compact but noticeably better than built-in laptop audio.

First impression: they arrived very well packaged, with everything securely protected. The instruction manual is clearly written and easy to follow, which made setup straightforward. The included accessories (cables for different connection types) make it easy to configure them for a variety of setups without needing to buy extras.

I’m currently using them as extended computer speakers. Pairing via Bluetooth with both my laptop and phone was quick and hassle-free. They also offer wired connection options if you prefer a direct connection.

Aesthetically, the exterior appears to be a plastic imitation of wood grain. It’s not real wood, but it’s a convincing and attractive finish that looks good on a desk or shelf. The speakers have a solid weight to them, which gives a more substantial feel than many lightweight budget speakers. They don’t feel flimsy or hollow.

Sound quality is impressive for the size and price point. They are significantly clearer and fuller than built-in computer speakers. Vocals come through crisp, and there’s a surprising amount of bass presence for compact units. They won’t replace a full surround sound system, but for desktop listening, streaming, video calls, and casual music listening, they perform very well. The subwoofer line-out is a nice bonus if you want to upgrade the low end later.

The controls are clearly labeled and easy to access, which makes adjusting volume or switching inputs simple.

Overall, these are well-made, versatile small speakers that deliver strong value for the price. If you want compact speakers with multiple connection options and noticeably improved sound over built-in TV or computer speakers, these are a solid option.
