Perfect for those of us with just a hood/microwave combo
One of the several must-haves when we build or buy again is an actual range hood in the kitchen instead of the practically useless and overly loud microwave/hood combo. It would have been too cost prohibitive to add to our kitchen remodel a few years ago due to the placement of our range and with running ductwork to vent.

Until then, we’ve been relegated to using the worthless combo or moving an air purifier into the living room next to the kitchen. When I saw this neat portable range hood by AMZRVSTUDIO, I had to give it a try.

I went heavy out of the gate by cooking one of our favorite light lunches – tuna kimchijjigae. As much as we enjoy it, and it’s fairly quick and easy, it leaves the entire downstairs reeking of the pungency, and the smell manages to also make it upstairs to at least the rooms close to the stairs.

I’m pleased to write that this portable range hood exceeded my expectations for performance. After lunch, I went outside to complete some chores, and when returning in the front door, the smell from cooking was only faintly discernable – and that was most likely due to having some leftovers still on the stove. I went upstairs, and the scent of tuna and kimchi was not present. Usually, the aroma lasts all day and evening.

Based on the performance I’ve experienced, I would ascertain that for those of us with the weak microwave/hood combo and no readily available way to install an actual range hood, this is as good as one could possibly expect.

Setup is easy – unbox, make sure the filter is on the aluminum mesh cap/cover, install the cover, and plug in next to where you are cooking. I ran at the lowest or next to lowest setting and it is MUCH quieter than the microwave hood as well, which is another plus. The only drawback for me is height for storage. I did manage to get it into my peninsula storage area, but perhaps a future design could somehow incorporate collapsable stand for those of us with limited kitchen space and storage.

This unit is a solid 4.5 stars, and with more use, I can see me revising it to 5 stars.

    Works as described
While the fan takes up more room on my counter than I would have liked, it works great along with my existing range hood to pull the smoke from the air at times when I’m grilling indoors. The noise level is very low compared to the hood built into the bottom of my microwave (just over my stove). If you live in an apartment without a range hood, this is a great value for the money and will keep your kitchen from becoming too smoky or too oily. It looks fine on the counter and matches my other appliances. It does remove some odor from the air. Keep in mind that it needs to draw power from an outlet so plan out where you are going to place it so it can reach the power source.

    Effective and easy to use
his range fan is so much better than our built in under-the-microwave stove fan. For one, it actually sucks up the oily smoke from cooking and it puts it through an air filter. The device is plug and play, easy to use, and you can really see the smoke getting sucked into the device. Very impressed with the overall quality and function.

Surprisingly quiet. Works well as additional portable extracto
I wasn’t expecting much from a portable range hood, but this one really impressed me. It runs quietly but still manages to pull a good amount of smoke and odors out of the air. It is budget friendly and very easy to replace filters. Good table top size alternative.

    Modern looking
This portable desktop range hood is a fantastic addition to any small kitchen setup. The 5-layer filter does an impressive job capturing smoke, grease, and odors, making indoor cooking and BBQ much more enjoyable. Despite its compact size, the suction power is surprisingly strong, and the three speed settings allow you to adjust it easily depending on what you’re cooking.

    Powerful
I am quite pleased with the quality, strong suction power. I like how it is not too heavy, easy to move around. I didn’t expect it has a container for oil, make it lot easier to clean.

    So far so good
So far so good. Was a bit confused about the filter, but realized the other filters in the box should be the replacements. Wasn’t too clear in the assembly instructions
