I previously tried neem oil to control fungus gnat larvae in my plant soil, but the gnats kept coming back. After doing some research, I found that BTi was recommended, so I decided to give it a try. I’ve used it a couple of times now, and I’m excited to report that I’m seeing fewer gnats in my living space, in my plugin traps, and in the soil of the affected plants.
Be aware that the instructions and the suggested producttowater ratio are printed in extremely tiny font—definitely get out your readers or a magnifier. I didn’t have a full gallon container, so I mixed half the suggested amount to make a halfgallon batch.
The label recommends a soil drench every six days, but that’s too frequent for my winter watering schedule. My second drench was about 10 days after the first, and that’s when I really noticed the improvement. I also used a wooden skewer to poke holes in the soil so the mixture could penetrate more evenly.
I’m planning to do a third round in the next few days. Fingers crossed—this product is a bit pricey, but it will be worth it if it finally gets rid of the gnats.
Thus stuff works after 3 treatments I replaced my sticky gnat traps and after 2 days no gnats were stuck to traps, compared to numerous gnats before treatment, I will probably do one more treatment just to be sure I broke the fungus gnats lifecycle.
Microbe-Life does a great job. It will take about a week or so before you see actual results but give it 5 to 10 days and you’ll see a huge difference in fungus gnats disappearance.
