Good quality 9mm diameter stainless steel replacement grates
Good quality 9mm diameter stainless steel replacement grates
Some of the steel rods are very slightly misaligned. This is a cosmetic issue that is almost not visible except when looking at the grates from the end. The grates are very heavy and feature 9mm diameter stainless steel rods which are substantially thicker than other which are typically 7mm. I don’t know if the thicker rods make any difference in cooking performance, but they certainly look sturdier.
Solid stainless steel grates are fully compatible with Weber Summit 450
These Kalomo grates are the exact replacement for the OEM grates in Weber Summit 450: they have the same thickness, length, width, number of bars, and bar spacing. The two grates nicely cover the entire grill area when placed side by side in Summit 450. The finish is very smooth and shiny and bars have deburred ends. High quality stainless steel that is rust proof: no warp, no wobble, no broken joints, no issues. Each of the two grates measures exactly 17 ” x 11 7/8″, the bar thickness is 9 mm.
The two piece grate system enables me to do two-zone convection grilling. In this technique, I install only one of the two grates and flavorizer bars on the right side burners, nothing on the left side burners (only the right side is used for grilling). After preheat and quick searing, I set the left two burners to HIGH, and the right two burners to MEDIUM or LOW. Basically, the left side is used as high heat for convection, and the right side is used as low heat to retain the moisture in steak. The lid needs to be kept closed, I only open when I flip the steaks.
The grates are already offered at a great price at about half the price of what I have seen at parts stores. If that is not enough, five heavy duty stainless steel flavorizers are also included, which are intended for Spirit models. They are a bit short for Summit 450 although I can still use and place them on flavorizer brackets in Summit. Compared to the OEM flavorizers for Summit, these are a bit wider, taller, and heavier. In the description photos, it appears that there are two small hole on one end of flavorizer bars. The items I received did NOT have holes. Flavorizer bars measure 15 ” long, 2 5/8″ wide, and 2 3/8″ high.
These are very durable parts, and I expect them to last for many years. If you have other Weber models or other brands of grill, measure the existing grates and flavorizer bars to make sure these Kalomo parts will work for your grill. Highly recommended.
Thick grates that look grea
This set of grates is nice because they’re thick. It’s a one sided grate, so you only use the one side to grill (some you can flip). They work great. They distribute the heat evenly for a good sear. The flavorizers fit and performed as expected. The wide grates are easier to clean than the thinner grates, as there’s more surface area for my brush to run across.
My original grates were filthy from years of use and subpar scrubbing. The original flavorizers were literally rusting away. Replacing the old, original parts with these shiny new parts is priceless. It’s made me excited to grill again. I’m glad there’s an affordable (less than $100) option to revamp a rundown grill. It’s brought new life into it. Everything is constructed with sturdy metal pieces. None of the new pieces feel flimsy or cheap. I’m totally pleased with this set.
Nice upgrade to stainless steel
Nice upgrade from the grill grate and flavor bars that came with the grill. Was considering getting a whole new model grill, but this feels just as good and much cheaper.
Really clean look. Includes both grates and diffusers
Well, if I’m quite honest I misread the label and I have a Weber Spirit 2 E-210, which is a slightly smaller and 2-burner grill with different size diffusers and grates.
Fortunately the diffusers fit in well enough, and I was able to cut the grates to size.
These are really high quality, which you can tell as soon as you pick up the box. I can confirm (from having cut it), that the stainless steel grates really are solid stainless steel.
I like the stainless over the iron, I feel like it will be easier to clean and maintain over time. Very pleased with this.
