Seems to be pretty robus
Holes for tips do not line up with main ripper. Not a huge problem.
If you’re using a tool like this, it’s probably nothing for you to fix the hole misalignment.
Simple but works grea
This hitch-mounted trencher ripper is one of those simple tools that ends up being incredibly useful around a property. If you have an ATV, UTV, or small tractor with a 2″ receiver hitch, this attachment makes digging narrow trenches and breaking up compact soil much easier than doing it by hand.
What I like most:
Fits Standard 2″ Receiver: Slides right into a regular hitch receiver on most ATVs, UTVs, and small tractors, making setup quick and easy.
OEDRO
Great for Trenching and Soil Loosening: Works well for running irrigation lines, burying wire, or loosening compacted ground before planting.
Adjustable Depth: The multiple adjustment holes let you change how deep the ripper tooth runs depending on soil conditions or the job you’re doing.
GARVEE
Heavy Steel Construction: Made from coated alloy or carbon steel so it holds up well under load and resists rust when used outdoors.
OEDRO
Replaceable Ripper Tooth: Nice feature because the tooth is the part that takes the most wear.
Things to know:
It splits the ground rather than throwing soil like a powered trencher, so you may still need to open the trench slightly with a shovel depending on the job.
Roots or large rocks will stop it quickly, which is normal for this type of ripper.
Usage tip:
For the best results, make two or three passes, lowering the depth slightly each time. That lets the tooth break the soil gradually and creates a cleaner trench without putting too much strain on the machine.
Overall:
For the price and simplicity, this is a very effective tool for trenching, running lines, or breaking up hard soil, and it’s a great attachment to keep around if you already have an ATV or UTV with a hitch.
Good HD trenche
This is actually a pretty nice trencher. I really had some doubts about this when I ordered it because at most places (other than Amazon) things like this typically run closer to the 3 digit pricing. While I was doing my inspections however, I didn’t notice any bad welds and the gauge of the metal was actually within reason considering what this was going to be subjected to. Now, this doesn’t mean that you can hook this up to 1000hp tractor or a D9 and try to tear up all the limestone in the Ozarks. But, it should hold up to most residential, DIY tasks. One thing that I really wish this seller offered is a pipe layer that will fit this trencher. From what I can tell so far, most of these from other sellers just won’t fit this trencher without some major modifications. I’ve got several trencher that have pipe layers, but are much bigger than this one – one goes down close to 5′. This is the perfect size for things like invisible fences, irrigation lines, etc. That only need to be down a foot or so. According to the description, this rig is adjustable from 12.5″ to 18.5″, but if you have a 3pt 2″ hitch, it would be much more adjustable, probably from an inch or two to 18.5″ or maybe even a bit more.
I really like that the shank is over 3/4″ thick (20mm) and that this hitch trencher is rated for 3,000lbs of pull strength. The description states this is “…Engineered for quick attachment to your tractor. Easily select the exact trench depth you need from four positions (12.5″-18.5″). With all parts and clear instructions included, you can go from box to job in no time. Conquer demanding tasks—from loosening soil, laying pipes/wires, creating planting furrows, and installing fence posts. The subsoiler is compatible with most ATVs, UTVs, and Category 0 & 1 tractors featuring a standard 2” receiver…”. I have no real reason to doubt these claims; however, I am puzzled as to how a subsoiler would be a good choice for installing fence posts. The included teeth allow for three different trench widths.
When this first arrived I did my typical initial inspection and didn’t find any leftover manufacturing process substances such as oils, sharp edges, blemishes or other major issues or defects that would render this unusable or unsafe to use. At this price point (~$54), I believe this is an average value. However, currently there is a coupon available for $10.75 off bringing the price down to $42.99 and making this a good value. A quick search shows similar items costing between ~$44-65 with a few outliers in the $90-100+ range. Would I order this again? Yes, especially if the coupon was still available.
Hope this helps.
Extremely solid and heavy duty soil ripper!
I’m really impressed with the Cammoo hitch mounted soil ripper! This thing is a beast and will work perfect on the back of my Kubota BX23s using my 3-point, 2 inch hitch receiver! It’s so heavy duty, that this soil ripper is probably the same weight as my 3-point, 2inch receiver attachment. For the main ripper, this is made out of extremely thick metal, so it should easily handle rough and rocky ground. This is perfect for refreshing your larger gardens each year before using a roto-tiller. For those that don’t know, if you roto-till your garden each year before planting, you are actually creating hard pan soil below the tilled soil. So if you till your garden each year at 6 inches deep, the tiller blades actually compact the soil just below that 6″ level. Over the years of tilling, the soil becomes so hard that roots struggle to go any deeper than 6 inches and thus reducing plant growth and yields. By using a soil ripper, you are simply ripping the dirt up along with any hard pan soil and allowing nutrients and water to get down deeper creating a thicker layer of better top soil. This soil ripper allows you to adjust the depth, but you need to remember, the deeper the depth, the more horse power you will need. That’s why this is probably more suited for a tractor versus an ATV or UTV. With a tractor you have more torque and you can put some extra weight in the front end loader bucket to give some counter balance when ripping soil at a deeper level. It also come with 3 different style ripper heads as well. Everything about this ripper is excellent. Solid build, perfect welds, a complete paint job, and nice hardware to put it together. Overall, based on my initial thoughts and price point, I think this is an excellent value for an extremely heavy duty ripper!
