Looks And Feels Good Quality
I must emphasise that this is purely an unboxing and look around the unit, until i can get it fitted, ( Don’t have a car at the moment, it sadly went on to the great scrap heap in the sky ). Now i requested this unit because i own quite a few Fosi home audio units and to be honest they have been fantastic, so i have great expectations of this unit, just looking at the unit, it oozes quality, performance and style. now lets go over what you get, the box itself is really nice and the amp was well protected, in the box there is the CA30 amplifier, two spare 30A fuses, two different sized allen keys, Fixings, 8 pin ribbon cable with connector and instruction booklet in various languages. The amp itself is a heavy, solid feeling unit, at one end you have the 12V power inputs + & – , ( you can use quite a large size cable for the positive and negative terminals ) and four sets of speaker terminals, all the terminals use grub screws to hold the cables in place. On the opposite end you have the RCA inputs, high level inputs for the speakers and a plethora of adjustment controls for frequency, clip etc. all connections etc are covered nicely in the manual, which is very easy to follow. Now i can’t comment on it’s performance or sound quality yet, but as mentioned i own quite a few home audio units from Fosi and they have been fantastic, so i have no doubt in my mind that this will perform just as well, but as with anything i could be wrong, so once i actually get the unit fitted, ( car permitting ) i will revisit this review and update it, till then, watch this space.
Don't Hesitate.
Wow, what an awesome little Amp. Actually has some decent weight to it for its size. I have this thing driving 2 Rockford punch 5.25s. With tweets. And 2 alpine 6x9s set for low pass and this Fosi Amp cranks. I am so impressed with the huge improvement to sound quality. I have an older fosi amp on my home system and that is 4yrs old and hasn’t skipped a beat. These Amps put some of the Big Guys to shame. I will never go back to a class a/b amp. I can’t believe the price point either. I hope they are working on a full auto line. Would like to see some other sizes. Keep it up Fosi. Your a game changer in the Amp industry.
This amp defies logic. Assuming it doesn’t fail prematurely, this amp is as good or better than SQ amps 3-4x this price. Next to no noise floor, well thought out, well built, compact, and it’s got some juice to go with! Things like the angled hex drive set screws for all wire connections and the clip light for setting gains are indicators of a thoughtful design. I got 2 of these, 1 is running 8″ midbass in bridge config, and the other runs my mids and tweets. My speakers will expose any signal noise and these are some of the quietest amps I’ve heard under $1k. Very dynamic as well, even at lower volume. Sine wave at various frequencies comes thru clean clean on a scope. If you’re looking for a 2 or 4 channel amp, unless you are a brand snob just get it. Get 2. I might get a couple more just because I feel like there’s some pricing error and it will be caught sooner than later!
A Fosi First, Audiophile quality car amplifie
Fosi have made a name for themselves by offering good value well built amplifiers that gives more expensive traditional brands a run for their money due to their excellent engineering, flexibility of use and of course their sound quality.
This is their first foray into car audio and I was excited to gety hands on one.
First impressions are excellent, this is compact and weighs a ton figuratively speaking. The case is full anodised metal with fins to dissipate heat.
One great engineering point stands out almost immediately. The power and main speaker cables have angled screw holes which allow for easier cable tightening in constricted areas. Touches like that make this not simply a cheap amplifier.
Four channels at 100w into 2 ohms or two channels bridged to 300w into 4 ohms each channel pair having gain and frequency crossover controls. You also have the option of high level inputs and line level.
Output is great, mine limited by the standard speakers in my car but had plenty of power and didn’t run into clipping or clamping until for my ears deadening levels.
Superb build quality and well thought out amplifier bringing all their hifi know how to your car. Pair with decent speakers and you won’t be disappointed.
I got in the car audio probably around 1986, nothing crazy, aftermarket radio, upgraded door speakers and 6x9s. The early ’90s I did my first full system, spent a little bit of money on it. This is my first time ever listening to a full range class d amplifier, I have only ever had class a b for mids and highs. The amplifier this replaced was an nvx NBA 401 which puts out about 130 watts per 4 channels, and is a large class a/b amplifier. After installing the Fosi ca30, The sound quality is so well I would not have known I changed amplifiers. Not that the NVX is a high-end sound quality amp, it does put out good sound. The amp is extremely small, I don’t know how they get all the components in there. You have 4 gauge inputs for power and ground, and 12 for the speakers and the remote. And since it’s a four channel, there is no bass knob. It does have a clip light for the outgoing signal, makes it really easy to adjust your gains. It does have internal fusing, 2 30 amps fuses, and does come with a replacement set in the box. You do have to remove about 14 screws to get inside though. But from what I found out through all the years, if everything’s tuned correctly, it’s very rare to blow a fuse unless the amplifier gets too hot or you short it somehow. One thing you can do if you do not like where the power or the speakers come out at, you can disassemble the amp, slide the board out, turn it 180, and slide it back in. All the screws line up perfectly. You will have to deal with the thermal paste, do not wipe that off when you put it back together. The highs are crisp and clean, there’s no unwanted sounds coming from the amplifier as far as engine whine or any of that, and there is barely an audible hiss if you have your volume knob all the way up with nothing playing, very clean sounding. If you are looking for a good sounding amplifier at a decent price that is quite small, I can easily recommend this. Very very impressed.
