Fun remake of classic Dragon Warrior NES game!!
As a kid I loved Dragon Warrior – spent hours on it and had found memories of it. With the Nintendo online store, I was surprised I couldn’t find this classic to play again. Unbeknownst to me, Dragon Warrior was the US name of Dragon Quest!!!
I was so happy to play this again, the remake is awesome! They did a great job with the graphics/game play, and brought back tons of memories/allowed me to make new ones!
Plus this is both the first and second game! You get many hours of game play with this title! Well worth it!
Best remake of the decade for classic JRPGs
Best classic J-RPG remake in decades. They kept the original turn-based system while still updating it without ruining it by turning it into a hack-and-slash. Tons of new story content, and the whole game is a complete overhaul. Fantastic work bringing it into today’s gaming market!
Highly recommend
This is a great game remake collection and I highly recommend to anyone who is fan of Dragon Quest games. The Switch version will work on Switch 1 and Switch 2 so I bought this version (and the box art is better). I’ve played the original NES game (Dragon Warrior) and the Super Famicom and Game Boy Color versions as well as the cell phone games and this one is a major upgrade. The games are well-made and redesigned to be played for much longer. Dragon Quest I took me over 50 hours and Dragon Quest II is already plenty of fun. Fully recommend picking up. Kudos to Square-Enix.
This game has been something that I can’t put down. I’ve already spent 50 plus hours on it . It’s that good and between both parts, you just want to keep playing. The scenery is beautiful, the story is great and the upgraded mechanics are a vast improvement.
I beat the Dragon Quest 3 HD2D remake and having a save file for that, gives you some items in the beginning of this game that are extremely helpful, especially for part 1 since you’re alone without a party.
Overall it’s an amazing game. I didn’t get to play the original Dragon Warrior games but I can see why they were so loved. 10/10
My first jrpg remade but it has mobile edition sprites
As always I prefer physical copies over digital. But it doesn’t seem that. The switch 1 version plays well and looks good but here and there I see mobile assets. I got to play with someone else’s switch 2 version and never saw a mobile asset until a certain conversation mobile font. It seems square Enix is jumping on the fleecing bandwagon. Even the switch 2 version looks more like dq3 hd remake. Having both games in one package helped me enjoy playing new versions of my favorite games. Sadly switch 1 it looks mobile. That is the only complaint it is a fun nostalgia trip. But I feel like bought an overpriced mobile game. It’s Dragon Quest if you are interested get it. The mobile look is not persistent enough to hurt the experience just adds a why. One is easier than the others because the quality of life turns even draconian difficulty into nothing. Anyone who is a fan of a jrpg from the beginning this will satisfy you just different enough to feel new again. The first one is as faithful as it can be so purest fans will have to find a reason for not liking it and 2 closer to what I’m use to. I had fun.
Two epic and fun adventures in one package, complementing last year’s HD-2D remaster of Dragon Quest III. These are remakes of games from the NES era, but enhanced with more content, spectacular graphics, a full symphonic soundtrack, and gameplay optimized for modern standards, making them a nostalgic yet modern experience.
I bought the Switch 2 version; the game key card works perfectly, and I can easily lend it to a friend or family member, who can then play the game on their own console.
