Keep your adventure going
like that the Aferiy unit works on 12v and 24v. I also like that it is a 2 wire system, makes the installation easy enough for anyone to install. It’s not proprietary so it can be used on any 48v power station.
Another good thing is that it’s limited to 15a. This reduces the strain on the alternator. I’ve seen 30a and 50a dc to dc chargers for sale stating for use in vehicles. The problem is your alternator likely won’t have the spare amps to run the charger fully. You don’t want to put that type of strain on your alternator and battery. The Aferiy has the protections and technology to keep your car safe, your batteries charged, and your adventure going.
I have tested the AFERIY DC600 DC to DC Charger on 11/26/25 and it does charge my AFERIY P210 Power Station (1st gen no app model) at slightly over 500 watts when driving. When you turn the vehicle on and the Power Station is connected to the DC to DC Charger, the DC to DC Charger turns on automatically, there is a green light around the power button and it starts charging the Power Station since it senses a power station is connected. I believe the fans turn on as soon as the DC to DC Charger turns on.
I provided some detailed unboxing pictures as well as pictures of the AFERIY DC600 DC to DC Charger in use with my AFERIY P210. So hopefully that helps anyone visually.
This DC to DC charger has a long 8 awg (fused) positive and negative cable that goes from the vehicles main 12v battery to the rear of the vehicle where the actual DC to DC Charger is to be mounted. The short adapter with MC4 connectors has 10 awg positive and negative cables for the connection to the Power Station. Like I said, this DC to DC Charger does charge at 500 plus watts and I noticed the wattage will drop if I slowed the vehicle down significantly and obviously when coming to a stop and idling, but when driving down the road/highway it stayed around 500 watts in my case.
Personal concern: #1 is that I feel the unit gets very warm to the touch after being on for a short time. After it was on and charging my Power Station for the first 20 minutes, the DC to DC charger felt very warm to the touch and if I grabbed it firm with my hand over the top, I had to let go after 5 seconds because my hand became hot. Later after 30 minutes, I grabbed the DC to DC Charger with my hand and after 2 seconds I let go since it was too warm/hot for me to keep my hand on it. I ran it for about 50 minutes during this test, all while charging my Power Station at an average of 500 watts during this time. Now the DC to DC Charger does have the fans and it seems like the hot air comes out the side where the main battery cable is plugged in and the cool air seems to be sucked in from the other side where the short adapter with MC4 connectors plugs in. But I personally would be careful what surface the DC to DC Charger is mounted to (no carpet, fabric, plastic for example). I would mount it on a metal surface but also maybe put some standoffs or multiple washers behind it so that there is a gap between the rear of the DC to DC Charger to allow air flow and then put an external fan to keep the DC to DC Charger cooler. This DC to DC Charger says it has protections against heat so maybe the unit is designed to run hot but within limits and would shut off it it reached that temperature limit. I did not drive on a trip for hours so I am not sure yet how it would perform over a long road trip or if it does a shutdown if it gets too hot.
Personal concern: #2 I felt that the 8 awg main positive and negative cable seemed slightly warm during the 50 minute test time. Maybe nothing to be concerned about but for me maybe 6 awg cables should have been used since this main cable usually gets installed under interior molding, carpeting between seats etc.
After the 50 minutes of testing, I shut off the vehicle and the charging stopped on my P210 Power Station but the DC to DC Charger stays on with the fans running full blast to cool it down. The green light around the power button is flashing at this point and I believe there were a few audible beeps as well while the fans are cooling it down. This cool down lasted approximately 18 minutes and the unit seemed to turn off by itself after that since the green light around the power button stopped flashing and turned off. The fans are not quiet so if you are mounting the DC to DC Charger in the interior of the vehicle then the fan noise could be disturbing to driver and passengers.
I do love that this DC to DC Charger provides charging to Power Stations when you are driving and in situations when solar or a direct AC outlet is not available. I give it 5 stars since it does what is says. I can’t deduct anything at this time for my personal concerns. If after time and use, my mind changes about the performance of this AFERIY DC600 580W DC to DC Alternator Charger, I will update my review.
I just received my AFERIY DC to DC charger. I tested mine yesterday. (Still have to find the best way to run one end through the firewall). It comes with the long cables from battery to charger (fused on the positive side) and a pig tail to attach to the output side of the charger. I hooked it up to my P210 and it worked flawlessly. Charging at over 500 watts. My P210 was at 37% when I started the charging with an estimated full charge time of 3 hours. I couldn’t be more pleased!
